Priest dies after trying to walk on water
A priest has died after trying to demonstrate how Jesus walked on water.
Evangelist preacher Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation he could repeat the biblical miracle.
But he drowned after walking out to sea from a beach in the capital Libreville in Gabon, west Africa.
One eyewitness said: "He told churchgoers he'd had a revelation that if he had enough faith, he could walk on water like Jesus.
"He took his congregation to the beach saying he would walk across the Komo estuary, which takes 20 minutes by boat.
"He walked into the water, which soon passed over his head and he never came back."

Obviously he didn't have enough faith to walk on water, but he also obviously had enough faith to die practicing what he believed in. Another one dies in order to teach us something.
May Christ bless him!

There is a difference between faith, foolishness and presumption.
Luk 4:9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: Luk 4:10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: Luk 4:11 And in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Luk 4:12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

You know St. Peter is looking at him as he approaches the pearly gates saying...
"What were you thinking?"

Sounds more like a case of presumption and testing God rather than faith. Kind of like those that pick up poisonous snakes because Jesus said believers would do this. This is not faith it is testing God and foolishness.
Not what he meant at all...

seems to me that a little bit of personal ego was involved here too!

Oh boy....
Peter doubted with Jesus walking on water right in front of him...
What a foolish man.
I'm with you laurel... thank You Lord for Your mercy in my foolishness.

reminds of the preacher in the news a few years ago that went to the zoo and climbed over barricades into the lion's enclosure to preach to the lion, and the lion killed him...it was not sucide, people said, because he was not sucidal at all...everyone sure liked and had only good things to say about him so this left everyone in the dark as why he did this...especially when people said he was a really clear headed good guy...
