What's So Special About Tomorrow?



Tommorow, the 17th of Tammuz is a fast day commemorating the fall of Jerusalem, about three weeks prior to the destruction of the Holy Temple. This also marks the beginning of a 3-week national period of mourning, leading up to Tisha B'Av. The 17th of Tammuz is the first of four fast days mentioned in the prophets. The purpose of a fast day is to awaken our sense of loss over the destroyed Temple - and the subsequent Jewish journey into exile.

Reflecting and mourning over these events is meant to help us conquer those spiritual deficiencies which brought about these tragic events in the first place. Through the process of "Teshuva" - employing the unique human gift of free will to repent and commit ourselves to improve - Hashem has given us the tools to positively effect change in our lives and in our society. In fact, the Talmud says that after the future redemption of Israel and the rebuilding of the Temple, these fast days will be re-dedicated as days of rejoicing and festivity. For as the prophet Zechariah says: the 17th of Tammuz will become a day of "joy to the House of Judah, and gladness and cheerful feasts."

What do we remember as we fast tomorrow? Five great catastrophes occurred in Jewish history on the 17th of Tammuz:



Moses broke the tablets at Mount Sinai - in response to the sin of the Golden Calf.
The daily offerings in the First Temple were suspended during the siege of Jerusalem, after the Kohanim could no longer obtain animals.
Jerusalem's walls were breached, prior to the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE.
Prior to the Great Revolt, the Roman general Apostamos burned a Torah scroll - setting a precedent for the horrifying burning of Jewish books throughout the centuries.
An idolatrous image wsa placed in the sanctuary of the Holy Temple, a brazen act of blasphemy and desecration


We will fast from dawn to dusk tomorrow, setting aside what time we can in our schedules to reflect on the tragedies that occurred on this day and the sins that brought about those tragedies about. We will search our own hearts regarding those particular sins, repent as needed and choose to follow Hashem's ways rather than our own.

Disobedience and 'loshon hora' (speaking evil of others) are two major sins which brought tragedy and hardship to the people of Israel. Let us examine our hearts particularly in these two areas and humble ourselves before our Father.

EMERGENCY PRAYER REQUEST FOR ISRAEL


At approximately 9:05 am this morning the Islamist terror group Hezbollah opened up a massive katyusha rocket and mortar attack on Israel's northern farms in the western Galilee. Eight Israeli were injured according to initial reports.


Evidently the attack was a cover ruse to kidnap Israeli soldiers. Two IDF soldiers engaged in a routine Hummer patrol on the Israeli side close to the international border were kidnapped by Hezbollah during the attack. Within an hour Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV announced the kidnap, and within an hour later the Israel Defense Forces spokesman acknowledged the strong probability that a kidnap had occurred.


At this moment, Hezbollah mortars are falling on Israeli kibbutzim and moshavim. IDF jets have blown up a bridge in south Lebanon in an attempt to slow down the terrorists from fleeing deeper into Lebanon, and are shelling Hezbollah positions along the border in that area.


Victory celebrations are breaking out at this moment in towns throughout south Lebanon over the kidnapping.


This kidnapping comes in the wake of the kidnapping of Corporal Gilad Shalit two weeks ago, also within Israel's internationally recognized borders beside the Gaza Strip. That kidnapping prompted a re-entry of IDF forces into Gaza, as well as shelling of Kassam rocket launchers and targeted assassinations of Hamas terrorists and their commanders.


Hezbollah receives its military equipment and encouragement from Iran, and all weapons flow to Hezbollah through Syria. Both countries are involved in strategic advice, influence and support for Hezbollah. Hamas is headquartered in Damascus and also receives much military help from Iran, smuggled in through Egypt.


The IDF will probably respond by striking in three areas:


1. There are 13,000 long-range Hezbollah rockets on the border with Israel. These can reach Haifa, Tiberias and Hadera with fair accuracy. Chances are that the upset of the military status quo will force Israel to at least weaken and at most destroy Hezbollah's missile ability to hurt Israel. It is probable that a military incursion into Lebanon to destroy Hezbollah's infrastructure is in the offing.


2. It is highly likely that Lebanon will pay a price for not controlling its own sovereign territory and for allowing it to be used to attack Israel, a country which has pulled back to the internationally recognized border years ago. This might involve bombing of Lebanese infrastructure, power stations, etc.


3. It is pretty likely that Syria's support for Hezbollah and Hamas means that there may be IDF strikes into Syria generally, and on Damascus specifically.

According to the Jewish calendar, the period beginning tonight marks the "Dire Straits" season, from the 17th of Tammuz to the 9th of Av. This is a season of increased danger for Israel. "War" on 17 Tammus

Dear friends:

Today is 17 Tammus on the Jewish calendar, or July 13, 2006. On this day, news headlines read: "It's war, says Israel as troops are kidnapped."

Historically, the 21 days between the 17th of Tammuz and Tisha B'Av (9th of Av), have been fraught with trials and tribulation for the Jews. In 2006, 9 Ave goes from sunset, August 2, to nightfall, August 3.

From a Jewish source:

In Jewish tradition, the 17th of the month of Tammuz is a fast day which commemorates the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar (586 BC) and Titus (AD 70).

It should be recalled that these breaches in the walls of the Holy City came after many months of siege in which the city's residents suffered extreme hardships, sickness and hunger.

Four Reasons to Mourn:

In addition to the breaching of the City Walls, the Mishnah (Ta'anit 4:6) recounts four other tragedies that occurred on this day, 17th of Tammuz:

1. Ten Commandments Smashed
After Matan Torah, the giving of the Torah, Moses went back up Mount Sinai for forty days in order to learn both the general principles and details of the Law and to receive the 10 Commandments.
But Bnei Yisrael miscalculated the amount of time that Moses was meant to be on the mount, and on the 39th day of his absence (17th of Tammuz) fearing that he would not return, they built an idol - the golden calf.
When Moshe (Moses) saw that the nation, who had just made a covenant with God, had built an idol, he was overcome by anger and he threw the 10 commandments to the floor, smashing them to pieces.
2. Daily Offerings Ceased
During the days of the destruction of the first Temple, the walls of Jerusalem were breached on the 9th of Tammuz. Although the enemies entered the city and spread desolation, they were unable to enter the Sanctuary because the Cohanim (priests) had fortified themselves and continued to perform the daily offerings.
On the 13th of Tammuz, the Cohanim had no more sheep for the daily offering, so they bribed the besieging soldiers for gold and silver in return for sheep. On the 17th of Tammuz, the soldiers stopped sending up sheep and for the first time, the daily offerings ceased.
3. Burning of the Torah Scroll
On the 17th of Tammuz, a number of years before the destruction of the Second Temple, during the time of the Roman Procurator Comenus, there was great tension between the Romans and the Jews. Josephus Flavious tells of the burning of the Torah Scroll by Comenus and his forces:
"On the royal road, near Beit Horon, robbers befell the cortege of Stephanus, a royal official, and they thoroughly plundered it. Comenus sent an armed force to the nearby villages and ordered the arrest of their inhabitants, who were then to be brought before him.
One of the soldiers seized a scroll of the Holy Torah in one of the villages; he tore it and cast it into the fire...From all sides the Jews gathered in trembling, as if their entire land had been given over into the flames..."
It was their sin that they had failed to pursue and capture the robbers.
4. Idol Placed in Second Temple
Many are of the belief that Apustumus, a royal Roman official, placed an idol in the Second Temple on the 17th of Tammuz.
THE THREE WEEKS of Trial...

Historically, the 21 days between the 17th of Tammuz and Tisha B'Av (9th of Av), have been fraught with trials and tribulation for the Jews.

The Scroll of Lamentations (Megilat Eicha 1), composed after the destruction of the second temple, becries of the Jewish people that all her pursuers caught her "between the fences."

The sages tell us that "between the fences" or "Bein HaMeitzarim" represents the 21 days between the 17th of Tammuz and Tisha B'Av.

On these days much affliction and calamity has troubled the Jewish people throughout the generations.

From the fast of the 17th of Tammuz, various customs of mourning begin, intensifying on Rosh Chodesh Av, with the mourning reaching a peak on the fast of Tisha B'Av.

THE THREE WEEKS of Mourning...

During the Three Weeks from 17th Tammuz until the 9th Av, the Jewish nation undergoes a collective period of mourning.

Historically, the period between the 17th of Tammuz and the 9th Av, has witnessed a series of calamities and disastrous events for the world's Jewish population.

During the mourning period, Jews focus on the the destruction of the First and Second Temples, signifying the cessation of the national, social and political life of the Jewish state.

The prophets have promised that there will be a future time when Zion will be comforted from all the troubles that have befallen her since the destruction of the Second Temple.

Until then, the Three Weeks is a period of mourning and reflection which intensifies in the 9 days that count down to a dramatic close with the fast of Tisha B'Av.

This particular 21 days of tragedy and mourning truly began with tragedy and mourning.

Let us watch and pray as history and Bible prophecy unfold before our eyes.

"Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Day of Fasting Marked by War in Israel

Jews around the world mark the beginning of a three-week commemoration of the destruction of Jerusalem and the Holy Temples with a day of fasting today.

The "Three Weeks" begin on the 17th of Tammuz, and end on the 9th of Av - both of which are days of fasting, according to Jewish Law and custom. Both Holy Temples were destroyed on the 9th of Av, some 2000 and 2500 years ago, respectively.

The 17th of Tammuz is a day of mourning because it marks the day the Romans broke down Jerusalem's walls, shortly before they laid waste to the city. In addition, it was the day that:
* Moses broke the tablets at Mount Sinai following the sin of the Golden Calf;
* the Priests were forced to suspend the First Temple's daily offerings, for lack of lambs;
* at some point during the Second Temple, a Roman general named Apustamos burned a Torah scroll;
* and an idolatrous image was brazenly placed in the Holy Temple.

"The purpose of a fast day," writes Rabbi Shraga Simmons for Aish HaTorah , "is to awaken our sense of loss over the destroyed Temple - and the subsequent Jewish journey into exile." Eating and drinking is not permitted until evening today, while some of the laws of mourning - such as no joyous public events or haircuts - are observed with increasing severity as the Three Weeks proceed.

Special prayers known as S'lichot are recited on the Fast of the 17 of Tammuz; on Tisha B'Av, they are known as Kinot and are much more numerous. Most of today's S'lichot recall the suffering of the Jewish People during the First Temple periods of conquest and destruction. Some of the passages have taken on timely significance in light of the latest war forced upon Israel:

"I was ill and trembling when... the viper of the north overran me...

"Rebuild the Temple, and bring us back within the borders of Carmel and Bashan, open Your eyes and take vengeance... Judge the cause of the mute, so that the destroyer shall pay for the day when the enemy prevailed and the city was breached...

"We rebelled against Him Who dwells in Heaven, therefore we were scattered in all directions, and our dancing was turned into lamentations.

"Let truth and peace cause the Fasts to be erased and turned into days of joy and gladness and festive occasions."

I just noticed the date of Tammuz 17th for the war myself. I was kind of slow on this one! I was surprised to find out that onetigerroo was ahead of me! (As was one other who emailed me). Interestingly, July 12-15 on the 360 calendar is Av 7-10, which are the anniversaries of the fall of Jerusalem according to Jeremiah, 2Kings, and Jewish tradition (for Av 9).

Notice what was also said on July 2 (10 days before the kidnapping) that (as quoting back to the Mene, Tekel, Peres, Bible Code::

"Peres:
"...He perished, he refused the banner/flag!
(Israel 'perishes' by continuing to "refuse the flag" of the snake on the cross, which symbolizes the Messiah who suffered the 'curse' in their stead, )
O' accursed day! The day that He was inflicted with curses, having been numbered.
They put God to the test!..."

If you go back to the source of the quote on July 2, this is what it says:

("Peres" can mean 'divided' or a coin called a 'half-mina,' worth 30 [or 25 shekels]---the price of Jesus' betrayal by Judas Iscariot. Or it can mean "Persia," the kingdom of the east that sacked Babylon.)

It is interesting to me that "Peres" can mean Persia, which is modern Iran, the nation financing the Hezbollah in this current war/skirmish with Israel. Thus, the picture bible code names both major parties in this war.

Moreover, the tet-nun-flag bible code had much to do with "the serpent changed into a rod", which happened to Moses at his call and then again before Pharaoh half-a-year later. The actual dates were 1447 and 1446 BC. However, in Jewish tradition they date these rather (incorrectly) as 1314 and 1313 BC.

(1313 BC), July 13, 2006 of the war equals "The Accursed Day!"

I wrote an article on the internet concerning the significance of these traditional dates many years ago. Anyway --- getting to the point --- for those familiar with my sites, each day also represents a symbolic year of time { http://www.1260-1290-days-bible-prophecy.o...le-prophecy.htm }, and so it happens that July 12, 2006 (when the skirmish began) represented the year 1314 (or 2707), and thus July 13 (when the war began), as 1313 BC (or 2708).

Notice the emphasis on the number "13" in July 13 and 1313. 1313 BC was the year Israel was given the law, and Tammuz 17 is when it was literally broken by Moses against the Mountain. The number 13 is the number of curse: "Cursed is he who does not obey everything written in the law to do it."

The code read:

"O Peres, (Persia/Iran) "...He perished, he refused the banner/flag!
(Israel 'perishes' by continuing to "refuse the flag" of the snake on the cross, which symbolizes the Messiah who suffered the 'curse' in their stead, )

O' accursed day! The day that He was inflicted with curses, having been numbered.

They put God to the test!..."


Speaking of "numbered", can you think of a better day ("O accursed day!") to represent this phrase: "O' accursed day! The day that He was inflicted with curses, having been numbered," other than on Tammuz 17 (July 13, 2006), on a day (July 13, 2006 only) that symbolically represents the year 1313 BC, the traditional year when the law was broken, coincidentally, on Tammuz 17th! (Thus, the literal day and the symbolic year overlap each other. An amazing coincidence/providence! Both the day and its symbolic year point to each other. Even the actual date of 1446 BC is 1150 x 3 years ago exactly as per Daniel 8. "1150" is half 2300. The Mene-tekel-code is all about the giving of the law as well, written with the finger of God. Remember that the above about "the accursed day" was quoted on the net 11 days before "the accursed day!" Moreover, the code itself reads, "I will give them a sign!"

And, as said, 1313 (and 1312) is when Moses' snake swallowed up those of Pharaoh's in accord with the nun-tet (flag) bible code wherein I said, (by the Spirit): (And this code is not to my glory, but to His. I mention these things so that others may believe His signs and give Him glory and take His warnings seriously.)

"The first flag reads: "We will besiege a banner/flag and their innocent One!" Moreover, the name of the military operation against the Hezbollah is, "A Just Reward." I find this interesting given what the rest of the code reads. Both "justice" and "reward" are fitting words for this code of a flag with money on it that speaks about injustice toward Christ that man might be made just.

The title reads:

His execution!

The pole with its flag of a cross within a coin, reads:

"A banner (or, flag/wonder/pole) and their innocent One will we besiege!"
(or, '...we will go around.')

Reading around the 'coin' in both directions:

"A dieing man redeemed them!
You will purchase them!
You have declared them exempt from punishment!"

What does it all mean?

The sign of the flag-code and this current conflict is a warning of a much greater war that is to come. This may be the beginning of that one, or (more likely) it is a warning to Israel of the big war to come between Russia/Iran (Ezekiel 38), etc., against Israel "for rejecting the banner of the cross!" All are brought into judgement over the enormity of this one crime, including Israel, and God is warning of the "just reward" for rejecting the snake on the pole, that is, the message of the cross, of one who became a curse (recall '13' and 'snake') for us!

I've had the shakes the last two days.
I am not in fear and I asked God why am I shaking-is this a test.
No this is a warning-I hear loud and clear.

Then I read Shekels post and have the shakes again-especially after reading
the part warning. This to me is a warning to us all.

things are definitely happening way fast. It as if the devil is deceiving the nations and drawing them into war. I think the devil was locked up a while ago and set free last century, which to me means a 1000 years reign already gone by.

Think about, if this war goes hot and I mean nuclear hot, a lot of folks will need to rethink their understanding of endtime prophecy...

we may feel called to prostrate ourselves before an awesome God...

Isn't this just something to shout to the LORD about! As always, I am in awe of the HAND of GOD moving! Praise the LORD! For HE alone is worthy!

I thought afterward that I used the word "i" too much in my article, but I did not know how else to write it. This is not about me, but about the Lord's sign. I even forgot what I felt the Lord saying to me at the time. So much was happening you just forget. I am a messanger, and a poor one at that. God is watching over His word to do it, and only mine as long as I state what He speaks to my heart to say, or shows me. Truly, God is awesome! But we don't know how all this will turn out. This all may be simply a warning to Israel and the world (that is, those who have ears to hear) about what is to come. And this is what I am thinking, but I could be wrong. This all could well blow up into a very major event. Not that I want that to happen, exactly, but I do want men to awake and Jesus to come.

Come Come, Shekel. You can't mess up God's word. That would be a boisterous claim as the Lord is always in control. Just understand that all can be deceived and pray that you do not deceive nor be deceived. It's what I pray for

The sing most people have not looked at which is in reality the true sign of the 17th and the following mourning is the "sins of Israel"

MAny are pointing to the enemies of Isreal but in fact, when the nation does NOT have God's blessing upon it becaseu of THEIR SINS, as bible history proved, God allowed their enemies to rise up against her and conquer her. The destrouction of the temple in the days of NEbuchadnezzar... the cause? the sins of ISrael so NEbuchadnezzar came in and conquered... The mourning is ove the sin , their sin moreso thantheir enemies.

AS long as we focus in on their enemies, we fail to see the real enemy within Israel herself....

If we want to use biblical signs to point to future prophetic things, then we must first look at what is this sign telling us? it is telling us there is a nation called israel who is in SIN right now, has FORSAKEN GOD, believes in her own power of military and her own forces, (God of forces) and stand up against her enemies proud, strong and GODLESS....

the end of this , in time, the end of this resolution is in fact, God handing israel over to her enemies, to destroy the sin within her FIRST!...

the destruction of the 2nd temple in the days of the Romans also occured because of the rejection of the son, her sin.... Those who hwere humbled accepted the son, those who did not, were beat down by roman catapults and died crushed or burned or by the sword....

The final resolution is always and still continues to be about this STIFF NECKED PEOPLE! it's not about enemies surrounding, enemies doing this or that... THAT is what God brings around to punish her for a nation under God's blessing does NOT have enemies surround her unless by the will of God....

In hte days of jehoshaphat and Ahab, Jehoshaphat believed on God and the remnant did not follow into war. Ahab and his military army went out to meet the Assyrian armies. In the end, both armies were destroyed by God for in God's eyes, BOTH were an EVIL to be purged from hte land........

this will occur at the valley of decision sa it did in that day.........

The resolution of all this is about cleansing the land of it's filth, a land in desecration do to the sin of it's inhabitants......... and the enemy armies are sent to israel, their evil is visited upon Israel by direct command and will of GOD.

What is being played out in israel is on many ways, a refulfillment of the words guiven Moses... the curses of the law. Additionally, God bring around, back to israel, all her previous lovers to burn her.... HEr wealth, her armament is going to be made worthless as pharoah's armies were made worthless. There is a purpose to signs that re-appear on hte horizon from the past. the destruction date of the temples for instance, the fast and what it symbolizes. the "look upon Him whom they pirced", (this was fulfilled at the cross) as the gospel of John tells us specifically but it will be played out in type and shadow again for those who had blinders before...

The sword Chrsit comes with is the "WORD" It i the sword of the spirit. nowhere do we see any other kind represented in scripture.. He comes with a two edged sword in His mouth... the rest, God takes care of by pointing to previous examples in bible history and how they were fulfilled, the valley of Jehoshaphat, the valley of decision, the type of Cyrus, the contigency of jews who left BAbylon for the promised land PRIOR to the exodus from BAbylon when Cyrus came, (these jews were all destroyed for they sought the saf3ety of Egypt, (military might).. yet, when the true exodus did occur, only a small remnant of approx 50 K left for the promised land, most remained in BAbylon, having made their lives and "grave" AS it wsa in the days of Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah, only a handful escaped judgement, in the days of Noah, only 8 people of the godily line of seth remained, the rest perished.....

Thanks Shekel for that info on the 13 of Tammuz. I did not make the connect here! Since the Katrina event I was getting dreams and visions of Israel, of samaria and judah as sisters. Judah takes a stance. The wildest dream sequence being a 'card' sequence dream. Also in the timeframe was getting ezek 38-39 and 'Hamon-Gog' in rhema. Lots of little phrases of rhema. Latest is 'protracted war'.

Back to the 'card' dream, the card were the symbols of revelations. This dream got pretty cryptic and happened just before the Gaza event. I will only state the first 4 cards I saw, yes there are more tho.... the 'TIME' card, the black dragon ( revs speaks of the red dragon aka ha satan but it is easy to know what the black dragon signifies.) A card with 'the sands of time running out', lastly 'the cross on the mount'. Timestamp of 'card' dream....from my dream journal...june 6,2006...vision.....time 4:14 am...re Ezekiel 16 to 18. I was told in rhema to read.

This is an odd question, but who are you? God has been calling me "mommy" regarding the new house I am building and then will not take no for an answer to painting the only room in the house that will be a different color (the dining room) a sage green. He is very....what is the word.....loud about the word "sage" and "mommy".

WASHINGTON -- The Hezbollah military machine that has been attacking Israel draws much of its strength from two shadowy sources that are proving difficult to cut off: Syria and Iran.

The two countries, which President Bush blames for fomenting terrorism and destabilizing the Middle East, provide Hezbollah with training, weapons and financing, according to Western intelligence officials who are working to stem the flow of aid.

Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., a House Intelligence Committee member who was briefed on the Middle East situation during a recent trip to Iraq, said Syria has more than 1,000 agents in southern Lebanon, working either directly for Syrian intelligence or compensated by Syria for information. He says they are there "to cause trouble" and help prop up Hezbollah militarily.

Lebanon is two-thirds the size of Connecticut. In a country that small, Rogers said, "a thousand intelligence agents is unbelievable. It's huge."

Along with Syria's agents, Iran's well-trained Revolutionary Guard is believed to be providing military advisers to Hezbollah, with some level of coordination with Syria, according to U.S. officials and Anthony Cordesman, a Middle East expert with the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the subject's sensitivity.

Cordesman said the Iranian role has evolved over time. Earlier, significant numbers of Iranians could be seen operating at terrorist training camps in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley. Syria provided them safe haven in the region. "Now, what you have is people who are less visible," he said.

Israel has been disparaged by both the E.U. Finnish Presidency and the international media at large, for its actions in sealing off Lebanon's sea and air space and targeting Hezbollah's infrastructure throughout Lebanon.

Israel's military actions have been deemed "disproportionate" by some E.U. member states, with demands being made for them to cease at once.

Israel thinks carefully about every action it takes with the utmost seriousness, calculating each operation very carefully in order to avert unwanted civilian casualties.

It is grossly unfair and wrong to consider these measures as being "disproportionate" or as part of the "cycle of violence," when reviewing the situation as a whole.

Israel's actions must be interpreted through the rubric of the tangible threat Hezbollah poses towards more than a million civilians throughout northern Israel, as well as the seven Israeli soldiers killed and the two abducted by Hezbollah terrorists in a totally unprovoked attack.

Israel has already stated to the international community that it views the attack as an act of war by Hezbollah. The Israeli government links Hezbollah with the government of Lebanon, a country which has technically been at war with Israel since 1948.

How can the international community and the media deem any Israeli response to such a gross provocation as disproportionate and as a continuation of the so-called cycle of violence?

The Central Council of Jewish Communities in Finland recently released a statement that correctly notes:

"Now, when Israel is finally exercising its legitimate right of self-defence against these perpetrators, the labeling of this action by the Presidency as a vicious circle of violence is as accurate as labeling the fight between arsonists and the fire brigade analogously."

Disproportionate could be defined as:

"a Hamas demand for Israel to release over a thousand Arab prisoners convicted of terrorism...for one Israeli soldier."

11 of theirs killed because of one little misdeed.. They wanted a prisoner exchange then too.

I rented that movei by Spielberg. It's out in the video stores now. It was the same in the movie. They went out of their way to protect civilians in their trail of vengence...Can anything good come out of vengence? Or is it vengence? Not in their eyes. It was justice and justified. I came away from the movie feeling really discouraged and low.

So did the leader of their group who went in head first. He refused to do the horrid deeds again.

Emergency prayer request for Israel - Day Nine


This is a short report of details of today's fighting, followed by a brief analysis, and then specific prayer requests.

Today (Thursday July 20) is the ninth day of the "bein hameitzarim" or "dire straits" period (see www.davidstent.org under the "words" section, Feb 21 2005 newsletter, also www.bobjones.org/articles/Basilisk%202002.htm), a period of extreme spiritual danger for Israel. This period lasts up to the 9th of Av (Thursday August 3). It is a time of urgent heightened prayer for Israel and her survival.

Our last prayer request came out just before midnight Israeli time Tuesday July 8. This report sums up the past 48 hours of the war.

1. Today 50 Hezbollah katyushas fell in Israel (yesterday 116 fell; 125 fell on Tuesday). There were 76 Israelis wounded by rocket fire today. Since the start of the war, 592 Israelis have been wounded by 261 rocket attacks. Another 600 rocket attacks landed without hitting people. So far 27 people have been killed (including soldiers).

2. In Nazareth a rocket fell a few hundred meters away from the biggest church building in the Middle East, the Church of the Annunciation. Two Israeli Muslim Arab brothers Muhammad (age 7) and Rabia (age 3) were killed . Their father justified Hezbollah's rocket attacks, saying that they are due to Israel not giving back territory to Hezbollah (though the UN has ruled that Israel is no longer occupying any Lebanese territory).

3. Focus today was on three elite reconnaissance groups (Paratroopers, Duvdevan [counter-terrorism special forces] and Maglan [LRRP laser-painting target recons who guide missiles to target]) who crossed into Lebanon to confront and remove Hezbollah terrorists and bunkers within one kilometer of the Israeli border at Aita e-Sha'ab and Maroun a-Ras. Each team suffered some casualties, 2 Maglan special ops were cut down (ages 20 and 21) as well as two other Israeli special ops. Fighting continues at this hour in at least two locations. Many Hezbollah forts and frontlines have been destroyed in the past 3 days abutting the border with Israel. These skirmishes are not a ground forces invasion, but a pinpoint insertion and extraction of special forces at this stage of combat.

4. Hezbollah is engaging in a tunnel and bunker strategy similar to that of the Viet Cong - mass networks of honeycombed warrens, passages and ammunition bunkers (some are 40 meters deep). In most cases bombings will not take out these sites, while katyusha long range rockets are stored and fired from them.

5. Attempted suicide bombers were intercepted in Jerusalem and Hod Hasharon (north of Tel Aviv). A huge upsurge in red alert warnings of terror attacks has caused Israel to close off the West Bank areas from the rest of Israel until Saturday night .

6. The IAF bombed the suspected HQ of Sheikh Nasrallah in the Burj al-Barajneh suburb of Beirut. Twelve F-16s each carrying 2 one ton bombs leveled the underground structure, but Nasrallah was uninjured. So far the Israel Air Force has flown 3,000 sorties, has hit 1,200 targets and today alone carried out 150 sorties.

7. In Beirut the blockade has been relaxed by Israel to allow tourists to depart and humanitarian aid to enter. Voices such as Maronite Christian leaders and Druze leader Walid Jumbalat have come out with carefully worded rebukes of Hezbollah. Jumbalat also revealed that a round table of most of Lebanon's leaders had recently agreed to disarm Hezbollah. But before this could be carried out, Hezbollah's attacks and kidnapping of Israeli soldiers froze that option.


Analysis of events

1. It is hard to come by accurate figures of the situation in Lebanon. A comparison of major media numbers and even official Lebanese government sources gives greatly differing figures. Examples: fatalities (216, 300, 350); wounded (600, 1,000); refugees (500,000 - 750,000). It is certain that number of Hezbollah terrorists killed is much higher than the 4 to 7 figure that they have offered.

2. Christiane Amanpour of CNN stated today that when there is a 10 to one casualty ratio between Lebanese and Israelis, something is wrong. There is a presupposition here that war is like a video game where casualties must be balanced for the sake of fairness . The term 'disproportionate' has been used by the UN and the EU, indicating that it is not 'balanced' for Israel to remove Hezbollah's forces which are entrenched in civilian areas. The assumption is that Israel should allow itself to keep enduring terrorism, and that continuing Israeli casualties are a preferable option to pushing Hezbollah out of southern Lebanon. It might be instructive to remember some divine mathematics in Leviticus 26:8, where God prophesies to Israel that "five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you". Though death in battle is not to be desired, war does happen; Israel is being attacked; and it is destroying its enemies. Let us pray for God's protection and salvation to visit all, and for the IDF to have even better accuracy.

3. Much of the world media is focusing on the suffering of tourists and injured civilians in Lebanon without explaining the context. Pictures of civilians casualties stir the heart and bring tears to our eyes. Yet the reasons behind Israel's determination to remove Hezbollah from attacking and killing Israelis must be kept in front of our vision during this time. The world ignored Israel's pleas for intervention, refused to get involved when Israelis were being slaughtered and did nothing to enforce UN resolution 1559 calling for Hezbollah's disarmament and disbanding. No IDF sorties would be happening tonight had Lebanon disarmed Hezbollah two years ago.

4. There are parallels between Hezbollah tunnels and Viet Cong tunnels, though there are some differences too. One big difference is that Israelis are defending their homes and families which are less than a kilometer away. That makes the battle more personal and the determination to win that much stronger for us Israelis.

5. There are parallels between Arafat's 'Fatah-land' terror colony in southern Lebanon between 1975-1982 and 'Hezbollah-stan' in today's Lebanon. For nearly 8 years Arafat terrorized Israel from southern Lebanon with katyusha rockets and cross-border terror attacks. His forces catalyzed the Lebanese civil war in which 100,000 Lebanese died. Today Hezbollah's maverick terror tactics are boomeranging on Lebanon and many lives are being lost again in order to crush this jihadi terror group. Israel invaded Lebanon in1982 to remove Arafat, and perhaps another land invasion may again happen.

6. There are parallels between the 1962 Cuban missile crisis and this war. The USSR was developing ICBMs to threaten the USA, but in the meantime began to preposition shorter-range nuclear missiles in Cuba, within striking range of America. Iran is using the same strategy using Hezbollah's missiles to attack America's friend Israel in order to distract the world from Iran's nuclear bomb program.

7. There are parallels between the London Blitz of 1940-41 and this war. Then Londoners were subjected to day and night attacks. They had to seek shelter in underground shelters. Hitler's goal was to destroy the will of ordinary people, but the British people's will did not crumble. When it came England's turn to counter-strike, the German people suffered a much more extensive bombing campaign, and the morale of the German people collapsed. Hezbollah can be compared to Nazi Germany, and the Israeli victims of the katyushas can be compared to the determined Londoners under the Blitz.

What next?

The war seems to be developing into three distinct stages.

The first stage has been primarily an air war, during which time Hezbollah infrastructure, weaponry, command and control centers, and resupply routes are being destroyed.

The second stage (which continues in tandem with the first) involves pinpoint insertions of special forces to locate ('paint') enemy forces and bunkers. These forces then call in pinpoint air attacks or accurate shelling.

The third stage will need to address the honeycombs and rat's nests of Hezbollah tunnels, warrens and bunkers. This will involve land combat by special land forces backed up by air support.

How to pray?

1. Pray for God's angels to continue to push off course the katyusha rockets being fired against Israel (see Isaiah 54:7)

2. Pray for safety for Israeli soldiers fighting, and especially for those Messianic Jewish believers presently involved in the war (see Psalm 91).

3. Pray that Israel would fulfill the promise of Leviticus 26:8, where one soldier will put a hundred enemies to flight, and five would chase 10,000.

4. Pray that Lebanon's leaders would come to the same understanding that the citizens of Abel Beth Maacah (right near the Lebanese border) did in 2 Samuel 20:13-22. Job gave them the choice of total destruction or handing over the head of Sheba ben Bichri the rebel.

5. Pray that Lebanon's leadership will move to end the suffering of its own people by working with Israel to change southern Lebanon from a terrorist nest into a good neighbour.

6. Pray for Israel's leadership to receive guidance from the God of Israel on how to prosecute this war with the minimum of suffering and death for both Israeli and Lebanese peoples, and to deal with Hezbollah according to Genesis 12:3.

7. Pray for the revelation of Yeshua and His salvation to come to many Israelis and Lebanese and even to some among Hezbollah at this crucial season.


We thank you for your prayers for Israel, for Messianic believers and for our family. Our two oldest sons are soldiers in the IDF. Our oldest son is presently stationed in the Jerusalem area. Our second son is working as a medic at one of the flash points on the Lebanese border. We ask for your prayers for his safety, protection and for opportunities to be a light in a difficult place. Also, we ask for a family of 6 believers in Kibbutz Nahal Oz (and all the kibbutz members as well), who are being shelled with Kassam rockets by Hamas terrorists from the Gaza Strip. Yes, the day represents the symbolic date of 1273 BC, when, according to Jewish tradition Joshua entered the Promised land and the the walls of Jericho fell. The conquest began.

All this does not mean that something definitely is going to happen. It does show that the day is marked for a possible event however. God can and likely will block this from happening. We should pray to that end.

I'm not sure that I got that much out of your post. I wanted to find out something about the future. Apparently, there's going to be a much greater war, but I could have told you that. Afterall, why does Russia want to invade Israel at some point in the future? Clearly, Israel must do something really big and bad at some point in the future. I'm thinking that Israel must nuke Damascus, Syria. But what about the current war? Tell me something about the future related to this war.

My husband and someone else made a comment about things happening in Israel at the moment. I couldn't say what - or how I knew - but I did say that there was more to come before 'something' can happen. There is something significant yet to happen in Israel - Jerusalem in particular before things change and it has nothing to do with Temple Mount either. Whether it's the final death of Ariel Sharon - I'm not sure. But there is something.

I remember years ago when Barbara Thierring ( is that her name?) was talking about the Dead Sea Scrolls and about hidden levels and meanings in the words of what was written - I think she called it something like the Pesha meanings - and people ( IE the church )were saying it was all a load of codswallop.

So even though this code was admittedly difficult to understand, yet I still felt it right to put it out. I would rather obey orders from above then to lean to my own understanding and thereby fail to stir God's people to prayer and thereby indirectly be partly responsible for some tragedy.

Shekel, your focus on the mene-tekel-peres bible code is interesting. Actually, I have been focusing on this for the last few years. But I haven't looked at from a secret Bible code perspective. I've looked at it for meaning that is relevant for today. Here is my interpretation:

1. The fact that a hand appears out of thin air to write this message is very interesting, but not all that helpful to King Belshazzar. The warning came too late to be of much use. So why give the warning? The answer is that this warning is for more than King Belshazzar. It is for us today. To God the warning came yesterday even though it is thousands of years for us.

2. The warning is one of the keys to understanding the 3rd Seal. The 3rd Seal is actually a warning too.

You have been weighed (scales) and measured (wheat and barley). You have been found deficient (a penny). A judgement from God is coming. Remember wheat (survived) and barley(destroyed) from Exodus as one of God's judgments (hail) against Egypt . 3/4 will be destroyed and 1/4 will survive. Do not harm Israel.

3. So the warning is against a great kingdom at the end-time. That's us. So we get a warning just like King Belshazzar before we are destroyed. We get the warning when Israel does something really bad. My best guess is that Israel nukes Damasus, Syria.

4. So when Israel nukes Damascus, Syria, the United States will be attacked and destroyed a short while later (1 or 2 years). This will make way for a later attack on Israel.

5. When the dust settles Russia will attempt to attack Israel.

Peace in the Middle East?
According to my personal estimate very soon the border to Lebanon in the north of Israel will be secured. Security is naturally relative; but Israel took precautions militarily:
Important infrastructure like numerous bridges in Lebanon were destroyed.

For me the safety device is the north border of Israel only ONE stage in a longer war and re-organization plan of the Near East – thought from the actual secular guidance of the world.
"The axle of the bad" Iran and Syria become in this agenda - after my personal evaluation of the state of affairs - which next roles have to take over.
Israel needs thus the safety device of its north border, since from the east over Jordanian ones and the south of Egypt no current danger seems to threaten.

Late Syria or if Iran wants to attack the country Israel, then this is possible only over the south of Lebanon. This is however only very with difficulty feasible - who fights already against 15.000 blue helmets?

Primarily the options various missile attacks on Israel remain starting as reaction for Syria and Iran.
Now - the Patriot defense rockets positioned Israel - some days ago in fact.

Naturally I wish that I err with this sketchy estimate, but am this momentary the explanation of my understanding.

This is a very interesting Bible Code! The date "21rst June" is in this matrix with one code of "21rst day." As a reminder June 21rst this year is the 5th of Tamuz. This is the date which is in the Bible Code "Summer War" which I sent yesterday. I am anxious to see if these Bible Codes are valid or not? We don't have long to find out!

June 17th , 2007 is the "First of Tamuz." I will be watching closely the events in the middle east starting from the opening of the Jewish month of Tamuz in order to see if events begin to heat up in Israel and the Gaza strip?

I'm not sure how I feel about the legitimacy of Bible Codes for prophecy but I have read some interesting arguments for the validity. Either way, less than a couple weeks to go to find out. Even if nothing occurs, I'll be partying on the 5th of Tamuz which happens to fall on my birthday this year. Woo hoo!

My message yesterday contained some typos/mistakes, but the numbers were good, if they could be understood in the sentences I wrote. I found Bob Ware's post most interesting in that the solstice was at 11:06am PDT since I am also on the west coast and this was the exact time I crunched yesterday's numbers (eating lunch). That 1776 is 444 x 4 is most provocative. That 11 x 21 equals 231 years (1776-2007)(thanks Calvin) is even more provocative since the 4th of July 1776 was the 17th of Tammuz. This is because the 17th of Tammuz begins the 3 weeks (21 again) of mourning to the 9th of Av for the Jews. July 3rd is the 17th of Tammuz this year, and maybe fitting for the beginning of mourning. Hopefully a warning for some.

Also of interest is that if the Decree of Artaxerxes Longimanus was in 445 BC and Christ was born in 1 BC, this is also 444 years. And since 1776 is based off of 1 BC, the total is 5 x 444 (2220 years). Amazing.


Yesterdays corrected post (hopefully):

I was examining the numbers from July 4, 1776 to July 3, 2007 and found some things that were remarkable. Is it all coincidence?

From 7/4/1776 to 7/3/2007 inclusive equals 231 years or 84,370 days. At 360 day years this is 234+ years (Ted porter mentioned this being the number given to Vincent Tan).

234 360-day years equals 84,240 days. This time would cover from 7/4/1776 to 2/23/2007 inclusive. It happens that my birthday is 2/22/1967, but it is in the evening, so technically, it is in the Hebrew way, on the next day. This makes my 40th birthday on day 84,240. It is also interesting that Washington's birthday was on 2/22 as well, but I don't know the time, if it could have been evening.

It is also interesting that from 7/4/1776 to 2/23/1967 is 69,630 inclusive days. This is 10 times the days of 5/14/1948 to 6/7/1967 (inclusive), for this is 6,963 days. The balance of days comes to 7,000 when one counts the 37 days from Pentecost 2007 to 7/3/2007 (See website).

So this is all interesting, but if I count the days from my birthday to 6/7/1967 (104 days) and from my 40th to 7/3/2007 (130 days), it comes to 234 days. Coincidence?

My fortieth year then is also one-tenth of 400 years--Jamestown (May 14, 1607) to 2007.

I just numbered my days and I am not trying to be egocentric in any way. Just plugged in and followed the numbers.

I cannot remember the day I calculated 60 360 days from May 14, 1948 to July 3, 2007, but it was five years ago this month.

What will happen July 3rd? The theme seems to be America and Israel, and probably not good. All we can do is watch. If nothing happens on this day, the message still seems to be clear as things are currently falling apart at record speed for both countries.
