veronique,
"Anyone of you please respond
I am asking the LORD
WHY and What HE means from Ezekiel 38:4 and Ez 39:2
"I will TURN YOU AROUND"............both times then He says He'll bring them into ISRAEL
SO,,,,,,,,,,
Before GOD TURNS GOG around and leads them into Israel.......
where are they? where are they being TURNED FROM????
Another land?"
There is a broad perspective that needs to be understood regarding Ezekiel's visions in chapters 38 & 39. Once one knows this it then becomes easier to understand the visions.
Gog is an individual (not a nation) who is addressed by the Lord in Ezekiel and in Revelation 20. The time span between this first invasion and resultant battle of Armageddon in Ezekiel, and another invasion, is 1,000 plus years. The Lord is addressing Satan in both cases, so Gog is not human in this encounter. Satan is a fallen angelic who rebelled against the Lord in the ancient past. Angelics do not die and this allows for Satan to be involved over extended periods of time. The Lord calles him Gog because of his involvement with the post flood inhabitants who first settled in the northern sector of the Fertile Crescent. Also because this is where Satan's human agent, the little horn, king of the north, will appear at the time of the end. This is how the Lord tells us where he will rise to power and then envade Israel.
Ezekiel 38:17 tells us that the Lord has revealed this same event to the other prophets of the O.T. If one studies the other visions you will not find the name "Gog" used in any, but you will find other Id's refering to the same entity ... the Assyrian, the prince of Babylon, the little horn, etc. Satan is the influence and fallen angelic power behind all of Israel's human enemies like the Assyrians, the Babylonians, the Persians, and the Greeks who ruled the Middle East in ancient times.
The Lord is obviously against Satan because of his rebellion long ago and will call him out to deal with him at the time of the end of this present age and will eventually destroy him in the lake of fire. So the "turning back" is actually the Lord's way of ending Satan's stray (rebellion) from his first estate ( an angelic created in perfection in the beginning and also the influence behind the human king of Tyre - Ezk 28:13-19 ) and drawing him out against the nation of Israel to confront him and defeat him. When the Lord returns He will come to the Land of Israel.
Ezekiel is also told to set his face against the "Land" of Magog. This is a place and it is the same geographical area that was inhabited by Magog and his brothers (Mesheck and tubal) just after the flood. This area today is mainly centered in northwestern Iraq. Satan does his intransigent acts through human agents so it is a human king of the north (Satan's pawn if you will) and his followers that are the subject of Ezekiel's vision. The many that are "with thee" will be the followers of the human king of the north, and the ancient geographical areas settled by those after the flood are primarily most of the Middle East which is inhabited by Israel's ancient enemies who have a common religion today which is Islam.
The "little horn" in Daniel's visions is this same human king of the north and his conquering of the Middle East and Israel, and his ultimate defeat, is described in Daniel 11:36-46. Who will this little horn be ? There are many points of view. Three are the most probable. A European dictator, a Russian dictator, or an Islamic Mahdi (the 12th Imam).
The Lord addresses Satan and will draw him (his human agent) from his place out of the north (anything is north with respect to the Land of Israel, and specifically Jerusalem, in visionary prophecy for invasions of Israel). For example, the Assyrians and the neo-Babylonians invaded Israel from the north in ancient times and their principal centers of government were located in what we call Iraq today.
Daniel's visions have this same king coming out of, or appearing in, the northern geographical division of ALexander's ancient empire. The northern Greeks rule this area just before the first century. The area was Syrio-Babylonia which today would include primarily modern Syria and Iraq.
I believe this is where he will appear. His make up will be extraordinary. He will not be just a human king, but will be the combination of a human and a fallen angelic who is the first beast of Revelation (Abaddon, king of the abyss) [Rev:9:11]. He will receive his power and authority fron Satan (Gog). We are told that his followers will worship him as a god which he will claim to be. He will succeed in everything he sets out to accomplish including conquering the Middle East and Israel, and much more.
He will have 10 other kings subordinated to him and they will destroy MBG's "great city" in one hour. He will rule from the Middle East for 1,260 days (42 months) and will cause much destruction to the rest of the world. But he will come to his end at the hand of the Lord (the battle Armageddon). Ezekiel details his defeat and the ultimate victory of Israel and the Lord.
The human component of this northern king will be killed and buried in Israel along with all of his followers (armies). The beast, and the false prophet who will lead his religious cult, will be destroyed in the lake of fire. Satan (Gog) will be sent to the abyss for 1,000 years during the Lord's millennial Kingdom. Israel will be the center of the Lord's earthly Kingdom. Satan (Gog)will be released after the 1,000 years to deceive the nations once again (symbolically Magog), and the venture will end up with his destruction in the lake of fire.
No one knows exactly who this little horn King of the north is at present. This character will be the "man of lawlessness" ... the "antichrist" as some would call him. He will be the instrument of Satan and his beast from the abyss. He will have a fierce countenance, will attempt to destroy any who will not worship him as a god, will use peace as the rational for doing this, and will attempt to rule the world from the Middle East.
My speculation is that he will be an Islamic from the Middle East. The population of the core of Islam in the Middle East is approximately 280 million. There are over 1.2 billion worldwide adherants and this number is growing. I think they would worship him as a god. I don't think that the world would worship a western leader as a god. Will he a Russian ? Possible, but unless he is an adherant of Islam, I doubt it. Putin has his own problems with the fundamental Islamic terrorists and I doubt that the Middle Eastern Islamics would follow him.
A careful examination of Daniel 11:26-45 indicates that military forces from the "far" north and "far" east .... outside of the Middle East .... will alarm the king of the north in the Middle East and he will go forth with great fury to destroy those forces and possibly their nations. He will destroy and utterly sweep them away. This gives us an idea of his power to destroy and rule unopposed. The name Abaddon is Hebrew means "the destroyer". No nation will be able to make war against him. It will take the return of the Lord himself to defeat Satan and his agents at Armageddon. Satan (Gog) is coming to the earth at the beginning of time of the end and his angels (the fallen ones) will be with him. [Revelation 12:9-12] The Lord will bait him with Israel and will then defeat him in the resultant battle of Armageddon. Only 1/6 of his human followers will survive the confrontation.
So the Lord will turn Satan back from his rebellion and steer (like a horse is controlled with bridle and bit) him to defeat on the earth. He has brused the Lord's heel (at the cross), but the Lord will bruse his head ..... ultimately destroy him.

Well anyway, here's another view............................................The quiet whisperings about a secret plan between the US, Egypt, Syria and possibly Iran to achieve an end to the infiltration of terrorist fighters from Syria into Iraq and also begin a 12 month cease fire between Israel and the Palestinians (to facilitate Israel's disengagement from the Gaza Strip) first surfaced in October 2004. This plan, championed by Egyptian President Mubarak, would have also allowed the US and Syria to decide the ultimate disposition of the Golan Heights without Israel's direct involvement.
On paper it sounded great. Israel and the Palestinians would see an end to their hostilities along with a peaceful disengagement from the Gaza Strip, Syria would get to settle the Golan question, the US would get a halt to the unfettered movement of foreign combatants into Iraq, and Iran would get some of the opposition to its nuclear program removed. Seemed like everybody would win.
Please understand that there's a small mountain of details that have to be resolved first and so this plan may never see fruition. So far, all we've seen is the withdrawal from Gaza and a an agreement by Palestinian terror groups for a "truce" that theoretically ended at the beginning of 2006. But if it does succeed, we will suddenly see a major shift toward the circumstances set forth in Ezekiel 38 for a Moslem invasion of Israel.
Just as no one could have predicted the speed with which the Berlin Wall came down and the Soviet Union collapsed, this dramatic change in the Middle East situation, if it comes to pass, will also take the world by surprise. Never in their fifty year history has Israel seen even one day of official peace, and so prophecy students have wondered long and loud about how this war torn country could ever be persuaded to believe that they're at peace with their neighbors, a clear pre-condition for Ezekiel's prophecy. A legitimate cease-fire with the Palestinians, peaceful evacuation of the Gaza Strip, and resolution of the Golan Heights dispute with Syria could suddenly change all that.
What Time Is It?
First of all, lets' get some kind of time frame started. Falling between Israel's modern re-birth, prophesied in Ezekiel 36-37, and the Millennium to which Ezekiel devotes chapters 40-48, means that the battle of chapters 38-39 has to take place after 1948 but before the 2nd coming, and all agree it hasn't happened yet. This has led some to see the passage as a description of Armageddon, but as we'll see there are many prominent nations missing from this battle whereas Zechariah 14:2 prophecies that every nation will join the battle on that day. If so, the time frame narrows to sometime between 1948 and the beginning of the Great Tribulation, when no place in the world will be at peace, especially Israel.
Ezekiel prophesied that the Lord would use this battle to turn Israel back to Him and to complete the return of Jews from all over the world to Israel, not leaving any behind. This leads us to believe that the battle of Ezekiel 38-39 is the event that re-starts the clock on the 490-year period of time spoken of by Daniel, the famous 70 weeks of Daniel 9. 69 of those weeks (483 years) had come when the Messiah was crucified and the Temple destroyed, stopping the clock one week (seven years) short of fulfillment. I believe the dramatic victory the Lord wins over Israel's enemies in this battle convinces them to officially re-instate their Old Covenant relationship and demand a Temple for worship. It's this Temple that's later desecrated by the antichrist, kicking off the Great Tribulation.
With all this in mind, let's begin a careful study of Ezekiel 38-39, to prepare us for these events should they become reality soon.
The word of the LORD came to me: "Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal; prophesy against him and say: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army-your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. Persia, Cush and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets, also Gomer with all its troops and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops-the many nations with you. (Ezek. 38:1-6)
In a recent article, Finding Gog , I made the claim that Gog is a supernatural figure (perhaps Satan's counterpart to the Archangel Michael) and the behind the scenes commander of this event, while Magog is listed in Genesis 10 as one of Noah's grandsons, a son of Japeth. Over 130 historical references demonstrate that Magog is the father of today's Russian people. (For a more detailed treatment on the modern names of all the nations mentioned in this passage, read the related article I've included below.)
In our Mid East Prophecy Update Sept 2004 I also explained that the "hooks in the jaw" phrase indicates Russia's reluctance to participate, and that the treaty Russia has with the Central Asian Republics may be invoked to assure that God's will is done and Russia is involved. Persia is the ancient name for Iran, Cush and Put represent the North African nations, Gomer was Magog's brother and settled along the Danube River in what would become Eastern Europe, and Togarmah, a son of Gomer's, inhabited what's now known as Armenia and Turkey. The characteristic all these nations have in common is their religion, they're all Moslem.
"Get ready; be prepared, you and all the hordes gathered about you, and take command of them. After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety. You and all your troops and the many nations with you will go up, advancing like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land. (Ezek. 38:7-9)
The fact that Israel is the target in this passage is self evident, but a controversy rages around the Heberew word betach translated "in safety" in verse 8. A secondary meaning, "carelessly" could mean that they're not really safe but just think they are and so their guard is down. It would take a truly miraculous change in Israel's current situation to achieve either of the conditions this word implies. As far as I know, the prospective agreement I revealed above is only being reported in mid-east intelligence services, but its progress certainly bears watching as it could be just the miraculous change that's needed. If it comes to pass, it would mark the first time in modern Israel's 50-year history that it's enjoyed even one day of official peace with it's neighbors.
Next time we'll look at the nations that are not involved in this battle and you'll see why it can't be referring to Armageddon. We'll also see how the Lord chooses to reveal Himself to the nations. See you then.
More to come, stay tuned!.............................................benny

Last time we announced an Egyptian initiative for peace in the Middle East that also involves the US, Syria, and Iran. Its goals are to achieve a 12 month cease fire between Israel and the Palestinians to permit the orderly evacuation of the Gaza Strip, stop the influx of foreign fighters across the border between Syria and Iraq, grant Iran some wiggle room in fulfilling its nuclear aspirations and resolve the dispute between Syria and Israel over the Golan Heights.
In early October 2004 the Arabic language newspaper Al-Hayat, published in England, revealed that Egyptian Intelligence had assisted Israel in pulling off the assassination of a senior Hamas operative in Damascus. According to Al-Hayat, Egypt's purpose in helping Israel was to stimulate Syria's cooperation by demonstrating the consequences of not actively supporting Egypt's peace plan.
Achieving even a perceived state of peace in the Middle East seems to be the last remaining precondition to fulfilling Ezekiel 38-39 and so Egypt's peace initiative bears close watching.
" 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil scheme. You will say, "I will invade a land of unwalled villages; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people-all of them living without walls and without gates and bars. I will plunder and loot and turn my hand against the resettled ruins and the people gathered from the nations, rich in livestock and goods, living at the center of the land." Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages will say to you, "Have you come to plunder? Have you gathered your hordes to loot, to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods and to seize much plunder?" ' (Ezek. 38:10-13)
Israel is described here as a country at peace in the idiom of Ezekiel's day, a land of unwalled villages, when this enemy coalition attacks, and other countries not mentioned before take notice. Sheba and Dedan are first mentioned as grandsons of Cush in Genesis 10:7. Later, in Genesis 25:3, we read of grandsons of Abraham named Sheba and Dedan as well, born to Jokshan, a son of Abraham and his 2nd wife, Keturah. From the passage it's not clear which pair of grandsons is being referenced, but commentaries none-the-less identify these two as representing the nations of the Arabian Peninsula, notably Saudi Arabia. According to archaeologists W. F. Albright and Wendell Phillips, Sheba was on the southwestern edge of the Arabian Peninsula across the Red Sea from present-day Ethiopia. Sheba is known in history as Saba in Southern Arabia, the Sabaeans of classical geography, who carried on the trade in spices with the other peoples of the ancient world. Dedan was probably the habitat of the Arabs in the northern part of the Arabian Desert, which is modern-day Saudi Arabia. The ancient capital of Saudi Arabia is still called Dedan on many maps today.
Tarshish was a son of Javan, who settled the area of Southern Greece. Some see his name as a reference to ancient Tartessus, a seaport in southern Spain, near Gibraltar. Others recall the sea going navies of the Phoenicians who sailed "the Ships of Tarshish" out of nearby Cadiz as far north as England for tin, a metal used in the making of bronze and other alloys, which they mined in Cornwall. Some believe that the name Britannia is actually derived from a Phoenician word meaning "source of tin." If so, since the ships of Tarshish brought tin to the ancient world, this reference could be to Great Britain making the "lions" (KJV) or "villages"(NIV) of Tarshish Great Britain's colonies, of which the US is the most prominent today. The fact that the Lion is a symbol of the British Empire lends support to this view.
All that being said, the most provocative point here is that the very coalition of western nations that freed Kuwait and deposed Saddam Hussein are not engaged here, but instead question the invaders' intentions from the sidelines. This is the main reason I don't believe this battle is the Armageddon of Revelation fame. There are too many countries that aren't involved, when according to Zechariah 14:2 all the nations of the world will be gathered for the final battle.
"Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: In that day, when my people Israel are living in safety, will you not take notice of it? You will come from your place in the far north, you and many nations with you, all of them riding on horses, a great horde, a mighty army. You will advance against my people Israel like a cloud that covers the land. In days to come, O Gog, I will bring you against my land, so that the nations may know me when I show myself holy through you before their eyes. (Ezek. 38:14-16)
Here the Lord makes His intent unmistakably clear. He's orchestrating this event to reveal Himself to the world once again. The years and years of debate over God's existence, begun with the German School of Higher Criticism in the 1800's and continued in the modern rationalism of the 1950's will be put to naught as God uses this battle to poke His head through the fabric of the sky and shout, "I'm still here!"
" 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Are you not the one I spoke of in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel? At that time they prophesied for years that I would bring you against them. This is what will happen in that day: When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign LORD. In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. The fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground. I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign LORD . Every man's sword will be against his brother. I will execute judgment upon him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.' (Ezek. 38:17-23)
With signs reminiscent of all the Heaven fought wars of the past, the Lord is aroused in anger to execute judgment against the invaders of His land and enemies of His people. And as He has done before, He sews confusion in the hearts of Israel's enemies so that they commence attacking themselves while He unleashes the classic tools of divine intervention. Earthquakes, plagues, bloodshed, rain, hailstones, and burning sulfur; these are His signature signs. Neither Israel, nor the enemy coalition, nor those watching from afar will fail to interpret them correctly.
So ends chapter 38. Next time we'll see why some think this battle goes nuclear and get another good reason why it's not the last battle of the Age of Man. See you then.

Another sign that we are living the last moments as we know it ,is that when russia attacks Israel, is that one of the nations that joins russia in this attack .....is turkey.......Back in 1979, I had wondered what was turkey doing in attacking Israel, when at that time and of coarse....still is, a member of n.a.t.o..............Turkey has for a long time , been trying to join the E.U......but to no avail...........I think she has become frustrated and is looking for other allianeces...........but anyway....here's an article that I came across........................Iranian president calls for strengthening relations with Turkey
Tehran, June 24 (KUNA) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on Saturday for the strengthening of Iranian-Turkish relations in all fields.
The presidential office said in a statement that Ahmadinejad described in a telephone call to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the two countries were tied through culture, history and religion.
Furthermore, he said that two countries played an important role on the regional and international levels, and stressed that they had to increase deliberations in order to consolidate international peace and security.
For his part, Erdogan expressed content with developments on the Iranian nuclear issue, noting that relations between the two countries would be further strengthened in the upcoming visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul to Tehran.
The Turkish Foreign Minister is expected to arrive in Tehran later tonight and is to hold talks with Iranian officials on issues of mutual concern. (end) mw.
