Are you a person who wants to be a Christian, perhaps attends the church meetings, but doesn’t have any "oil in his lamp", in other words there is no spiritual life in his heart? Are you in other words only a nominal Christian, who has external Christian habits in his life, but hasn’t really been born again and experienced a living faith?

It really is possible, that if God hasn’t had the chance to awaken us, we are just these kinds of people. We can have all the external signs of Christianity, we may have turned away from certain sins and we might think that we are on the way to heaven, even though we are in fact going in just the opposite direction. This is possible, if we have not yet seen our true condition and the need for salvation in the light of God.

I kinda think I'm the opposite. I am very strong in my faith and do my best to live like a Christian but I fail miserably. I counciously think about God and doing right continuously but I'm still stuck in this sinful body. Thankfully I am forgiven. I used to be a REAL heavy drinker, I used to have a lot of anger problems, I had no purpose in life and I was basically a butthole.

I knew I couldn't change a bit without his help so I laid it at Christ's feet and told him to change me. He has but my sinful spirit fights him every step of the way but it will lose in the end. The change in me in just over a year has been unbelieveable. I have cut my drinking down considerably, my anger has given way to forgiveness and I now have a purpose.

Please don't think I am bragging on myself. All I did was unload my problems on another man. Luckily that man was Jesus. I just can't believe the change that has happened in me.

Nothing wrong with that DTH smile.gif I think the Lord had you done good.

...it sounds as if you speak of the "spiritually dead," Petri (maybe the spiritually comatosed?). Well, I take heart that the resurrection also speaks of the spiritually dead, so pray to the Lord and also take heart. Maybe he'll show you the same wub.gif
