John 6:70
Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?"

of all the denominations of christianity would the above verse indicate profeticly that one of the denominations is a devil?

if so which one and why?

Well Gary, Jesus Christ was the saviour of the flesh, Emmanuel was the saviour of the Spirit. Jesus Christ, as an earthly King of kings, rules over twelve apostles and one of them was a devil, Judas. Emmanuel, as the heavenly commander, rules over twelve tribes and one is lost, the tribe of Judah. Judah, Judas, Judea, Jews, the Pope, Catholic. That's something how that can be done. That is also a rediculous question. Catholic means universal. It consists of denominations. Lets see, Protestant, Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist; then there is the quakers and the Morovians, and the Saducees, and the Pharisees, and the Essenes . . . Islam and Buddhism and . . . you got me interested now. . . which one is it? laugh.gif

Well Gregg if you start the ball rolling looking for 1 you might end up finding a few more, but being lead to use the tool of decernment one gets better at decerning

if we are lead to understand what the differant groups beleive and we learn what truth they have, by knowledge understanding and wisdom we can sow the right seed that will add to the truth they have

as we learn to diecern what truth they have we learn truth for ourselves by seeking there good we do good for both parties

Just to put thing strait as an example there are many who are Christlike here but lets say for example they have become 49 persent Jesus, and that would be a Good thing if it were True

and then youve got old Joe Bloggs who is only 1 persent in the Likeness of Christ. How should we treat old Joe?

God Is a Wise old God and what He has done is made old Joe a Key man in the sceem of things because no one else has the same one persent Joe has, and the one persent old Joe Has will open the door to be able to become 100 persent like Christ.

so i would say that we all need to mindfull that we need all the help we can get
and what you do to the least of my brothers you do to me so we can all see that we need to respect even the least of people cos it could have a major efect on our own wellbeing

I see this as a rhetorical question which has abstracts of thought which pretty much fail to transcend the true riches of Christ. He chose all of His disciples from the baser level of society. Publicans, sinners, tax collectors, fishermen. He knew who He chose and called and He was perfectly in tune with the father in so doing. It was simply a part of the plan of God in order to complete the reason He was sent. To be offered up as a sacrifice. How could the plan have worked without a Judas? I see no reason to extrapolate that over into a denominational idiom. I think it can easily be ascertained that the denominations we now see are themselves (one and all) extrapolations of, and therefore a mere suggestion of the first century church. That bothers me...to know we are entombed in a controversial and partly acknowledged version of truth. For there can be only one body.

................A word from the Lord in the form of a sign

...........................A man sets a Church on fire

To me the Holy Spirit is pointing out Gods intentions with the Laodecean Church some may read it one way some may read it another way

but if you see both veiws and put them into the right perspective you end up being able to see that which is unseen from just the one perspective

What is important for us all to understand is that the Holy Spirit reveals differant aspects of Christ to differant people

Preist Prophet Son Father King

so we all have a limited veiw and the compleatness of all the fulness of Christ and what He represents Grows out of the Little talent the Holy Spirit Gives to each of us

a good example is the Jehovahs witness they have only been Given by the Holy Spirit the Sight and understanding that Jesus is the Son of Jehovah

The Holy Spirit has not yet made it possible for them to have the reverlation that Jesus is also Jehovah in human form

i know this so when i speak with JWs i regard them as Children the Holy Spirit is revealing more of the Fulness of Christ

Just as He is doing with us all

the JWs are not enemys they are fellow workers the Holy Spirit Has begun a work in them and He will compleat the task

Those of us who understand the Truth of this will refine there approach
and be more effective in counseling JWs into a fuller knowledge

and we need decerment like this with others

if we take the plank out we will see more clearly to minister the right word to the right people

Rom 15:14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

1Co 1:5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
1Co 1:6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
1Co 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1Co 1:8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Co 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
1Co 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Paul seems to be full, but if he does not walk in love it is all for nothing, which is what I believe you are getting at.

1Co 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

We were given the five fold ministry gifts to perfect us.

Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Eph 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Part of a powerful prayer by paul.

Eph 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Phi 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
Phi 1:10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
Phi 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

more........

Col 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Col 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Col 1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

mooooorrrrrreeeeee........

Col 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Col 2:4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
Col 2:5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
Col 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Col 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Col 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Col 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Col 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
Col 2:19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
Col 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
Col 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
Col 2:22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
Col 2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2Pe 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
2Pe 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
2Pe 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
2Pe 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
