TEHRAN, Iran — Iran said it successfully tested another new torpedo Monday, the latest weapon unveiled during war games in the Gulf.

The torpedo can target submarines at any depth and is powerful enough to "break a heavy warship" in two, a spokesman for Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Gen. Mohammad Ebrahim Dehghani, told state television. He did not announce the name of the new torpedo or give details on its speed or range.

On Sunday, Iran announced it had tested a different torpedo, the new high-speed "Hoot," which means "whale." It moves at up to 223 mph, and Iran said it was too fast for any enemy ship to elude.

On Friday, Iran tested the Fjr-3, a missile that can avoid radar and hit several targets simultaneously using multiple warheads.

The Revolutionary Guards, the elite force of Iran's military, have been holding their maneuvers — code-named "Great Prophet" — since Friday, touting what they call domestically built technological advances in their armed forces.

The Pentagon said on Monday it is possible Iran has produced missiles capable of evading radar and sonar as Tehran has stated in recent days, but added that the Iranians have been known to "boast and exaggerate."

"We know that the Iranians are always trying to improve their weapons systems by both foreign and indigenous measures. It's possible that they are increasing their capability and making strides in radar-absorbing materials and targeting," said Bryan Whitman, a senior Pentagon spokesman.

"However, the Iranians have been known also to boast and exaggerate their statements about great technical and tactical capabilities," Whitman added.

"Iran's military developments have centred on its ballistic missile program, which Tehren views as its primary deterrent. It has the largest inventory of ballistic missiles in the Middle East," Whitman said. "Over the past year, Iran has continued testing its medium-range ballistic missiles, and has also tested anti-ship missiles," Whitman added.

This isn't the surface to air missle that hits multiple targets. This is another new weapon, that they supposedly have video footage of. It is a torpedo(underwater missle) that is so fast no ship can prevent its strike. There is supposedly only one other in the world that is as fast and its Russian. Go figure!

hope so cause right now the counter measures are toooo slow. But who knows with our military they might already have some we don't know about.
