Administration OK With UAE Running Six Major U.S. Ports

WASHINGTON — A company in the United Arab Emirates is poised to take over significant operations at six American ports as part of a corporate sale, leaving a country with ties to the Sept. 11 hijackers with influence over a maritime industry considered vulnerable to terrorism.
The Bush administration considers the UAE an important ally in the fight against terrorism since the suicide hijackings and is not objecting to Dubai Ports World's purchase of London-based Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co.
The $6.8 billion sale is expected to be approved Monday. The British company is the fourth largest ports company in the world and its sale would affect commercial U.S. port operations in New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, New Orleans, Miami and Philadelphia.
DP World said it won approval from a secretive U.S. government panel that considers security risks of foreign companies buying or investing in American industry.
The U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States "thoroughly reviewed the potential transaction and concluded they had no objection," the company said in a statement to The Associated Press.
The committee earlier agreed to consider concerns about the deal as expressed by a Miami-based company, Eller & Co., according to Eller's lawyer, Michael Kreitzer. Eller is a business partner with the British shipping giant but was not in the running to buy the ports company.
The committee, which could have recommended that President Bush block the purchase, includes representatives from the departments of Treasury, Defense, Justice, Commerce, State and Homeland Security.
The State Department describes the UAE as a vital partner in the fight against terrorism. But the UAE, a loose federation of seven emirates on the Saudi peninsula, was an important operational and financial base for the hijackers who carried out the attacks against New York and Washington, the FBI concluded.
Sen. Charles Schumer, a Democrat whose district includes the New York port, urged the administration to consider the sale carefully.
"America's busiest ports are vital to our economy and to the international economy, and that is why they remain top terrorist targets," Schumer said. "Just as we would not outsource military operations or law enforcement duties, we should be very careful before we outsource such sensitive homeland security duties."
Last month, the White House appointed a senior DP World executive, David C. Sanborn of Virginia, to be the new administrator of the Maritime Administration of the Transportation Department. Sanborn worked as DP World's director of operations for Europe and Latin America.
Critics of the proposed purchase said a port operator complicit in smuggling or terrorism could manipulate manifests and other records to frustrate Homeland Security's already limited scrutiny of shipping containers and slip contraband past U.S. Customs inspectors.
"When you have a foreign government involved, you are injecting foreign national interests," Kreitzer said. "A country that may be a friend of ours today may not be on the same side tomorrow. You don't know in advance what the politics of that country will be in the future."
Shipping experts noted that many of the world's largest port companies are not based in the U.S., and they pointed to DP World's strong economic interest in operating ports securely and efficiently.
"Does this pose a national security risk? I think that's pushing the envelope," said Stephen E. Flynn, who studies maritime security at the New York-based Council on Foreign Relations. "It's not impossible to imagine one could develop an internal conspiracy, but I'd have to assign it a very low probability."
Changing management over the U.S. ports "doesn't offer Al Qaeda any opportunities it doesn't have now," said James Lewis, who worked with the U.S. committee at the State and Commerce departments. "It's in Dubai's interest to make sure this runs well. There is strong economic incentive to be sure these worries never materialize."
Flynn and others said even under foreign control, U.S. ports will continue to be run by unionized American employees. "You're not going have a bunch of UAE citizens working the docks," Flynn said. "They're longshoremen, vested in high-paying jobs. Most of them are Archie Bunker-kind of Americans."
Peninsular and Oriental and DP World set approval by the U.S. security committee as a condition for the sale. In regulatory papers, the companies said either the committee must agree not to formally investigate the purchase or Bush must not move to block the sale for national security purposes.
Since the Sept. 11 attacks, the FBI has said the money for the strikes was transferred to the hijackers primarily through the UAE's banking system, and much of the operational planning for the attacks took place inside the UAE.
Many of the hijackers traveled to the U.S. through the UAE. Also, the hijacker who steered United Airlines flight into the World Trade Center's south tower, Marwan al-Shehhi, was born in the UAE.
After the attacks, U.S. Treasury Department officials complained about a lack of cooperation by the UAE and other Arab countries trying to track Usama bin Laden's bank accounts.

Presidential press secretary Scott McClellan stressed today that several national security agencies approved a deal that will turn six major U.S. ports over to a firm run by the government of the United Arab Emirates – an agreement that's been roundly criticized by federal lawmakers.
As WorldNetDaily reported, a merger deal approved by the government's Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States has the company currently running the ports, London-based Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, getting acquired by the Emirati firm, Dubai Ports World. UAE has known ties to terrorists and 9-11 hijackers, raising concerns about security issues at the ports involved: New York, Baltimore, New Jersey, New Orleans, Miami and Philadelphia.
WND asked McClellan at today's press briefing: "Knowing, as we do, that the Arab Emirate was tied in many ways to the 9-11 hijackers and their deeds, and knowing the critical nature of port security and protecting the nation, will the president step in and stop this deal from going into effect March 2nd?"
Responded the spokesman: "Well, my understanding, Les, is that this went through the national security review process under [the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States], at the Department of Treasury. That is the agency that is responsible for overseeing such matters. And this includes a number of national security agencies – the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, the Justice, among others, and there is a rigorous review that goes on for proposed foreign investments for national security concerns."
McClellan then referred the matter to the Treasury Deparment, saying, "In terms of specifics relating to this, Treasury is the chair of this and you should direct those questions to Treasury."
WND also asked McClellan about a column by Michelle Malkin in which she described White House reporters' criticism of the spokesman's handling of the shooting incident involving Vice President Cheney as "'circus antics of clown journalism 101' [with] one print reporter is going on television wearing an orange hat and vest, and a TV reporter yelling at you (McClellan) that you're a jerk.
"And my question: Do you honestly believe Michelle is wrong, or will you evade?"
The spokesman responded:
"Let me point out a couple things. One, we talked about this earlier in the week – there have been some legitimate questions and legitimate issues that have been raised. At the same time, I think that those questions and those issues have been addressed. They've been addressed in a very thorough way. I went out of my way to be as responsive as I could be earlier in this week. The vice president thoroughly addressed all the questions that came up yesterday in his nearly 30-minute interview with Brit Hume. Brit Hume is a very respected journalist, and I think that I'll leave it to others to make judgments, or get into that kind of analysis. I'll leave that to others."

Good old Ann Compton, the long-time voice on ABC radio and TV news, showed just how single-minded and out of touch the Old Media are.
She's part of it.
She's also out of it, was made the fool, and did it to herself.
With perhaps the most important news story of the day sitting out there, just waiting to be reported, she didn't have a clue and admitted it on radio for all to hear.
It was beautiful!
Compton was a guest of John Gambling on New York's WABC Radio last Thursday. They talked about Dick Cheney's hunting accident and Compton was intense about the news coverage.
Then Gambling asked what else was news at the White House?
"Absolutely nothing," she responded.
She expounded further how all-encompassing the Cheney story was, that it "dominated everything else." She added, it was "fascinating" and that ABC reported it "very, very vigorously at the ground level and I think very responsibly."
What exactly is "fascinating" about a hunting accident and why does it need such reporting vigor that everything else fades in the dust? Why is that "responsible reporting"?
Gambling's next question burst that balloon: "Is anybody talking about ... the Dubai Ports World Corporation running our major ports in the United States? You know anything about that?"
Compton's response along with nervous laughter: Whoops.
Gambling said reporters should get that story.
Compton: "Well, send me a quick e-mail, John. It sounds like something I need to see."
Uh, yes Ann. It is, but she'll depend on a radio host sending an e-mail about a $6.8 billion dollar deal that affects the security of the United States. In fact, ABC radio had nothing on it even two days later.
Good grief, Ann, you could at least have said you'd check into it and follow the tip. Your response shows that you and virtually every ABC reporter is a drone of the assignment desks. Those editors and producers decide what is news and the reporter is simply the means of getting it packaged to put on the air or in the paper.
What was the story they missed in their frantic coverage of Dick Cheney?
Oh, only that the Bush administration has approved the sale of the British owned, London based Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation to Dubai Ports World, a company owned by the government of the United Arab Emirates.
P&O has run commercial operations at the American ports of New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore Miami and New Orleans. (Bet you didn't know that.)
Once British shareholders approved the sale (they did) and the United States gave the nod (it did), the result is that those American ports will be under the control of the United Arab Emirates – a country with human and financial terrorism ties.
One wonders when we'll outsource our airport security? Then again, maybe we already have and the media missed that story, too. How would we know?
And that's the real issue.
Why didn't we know?
Why was such an important issue discussed and decided behind the scenes?
Why were the decisions made and approved by the Treasury Department's virtually unknown, 12-member "Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States," as well as by varied officials from the Defense, Justice, Commerce, State and Homeland Security departments and our intelligence agencies?
Why did they all agree that the sale and the impending control over shipping in and out of those ports, including security, would not present any national security problems?
How can that be when it's known that the UAE has ties to terrorists, the 9-11 hijackers and financial dealings of al-Qaida?
How can that be when the Treasury Department is monitoring whether money going through Dubai might be supporting proliferation of WMD in such countries as Iran and Libya?
That's the same Treasury Department that approved the port deal.
Where were those intrepid reporters eager to dig out real news? Was this a cover-up because the administration felt making it public knowledge would create an uproar? Why wasn't Congress privy to the negotiations to say nothing of the American public? Why were such important decisions concerning the security of our ports and ship traffic in and out left to a group of unidentified and unelected people?
I have a better question: With all of the "leaks" we have endured recently, how could something like this happen without being leaked?
Actually, the answer to that could be more ominous than I will address here, but for those enamored of conspiracy theories, consider my question a chunk of red meat. Chew on it.
I knew about the deal the weekend of Feb. 4 and 5 and mentioned it on my radio program. It wasn't until midweek that other conservative media picked up on it, and by week's end some congressional members on both sides of the aisle were calling for the approval to be reconsidered.
But Old Media still ignored it. Why didn't the assignment editors at every radio and TV network and every local station and every newspaper send their reporters to cover that story instead of wasting time on a hunting accident?
If you've ever wondered how national media can miss a major story or come to it so late that it's "old" news, what happened last week is a perfect example. The terrible part is that this missed story has major security consequences for our nation. Ann Compton wasn't alone in her ignorance, but for the first time, the public had a chance to see firsthand how out of touch the news media really are and how the public is shortchanged if it depends on the old, "mainstream" media and the cable channels that march in lockstep with them.

Uh, yes Ann. It is, but she'll depend on a radio host sending an e-mail about a $6.8 billion dollar deal that affects the security of the United States. In fact, ABC radio had nothing on it even two days later.
Good grief, Ann, you could at least have said you'd check into it and follow the tip. Your response shows that you and virtually every ABC reporter is a drone of the assignment desks. Those editors and producers decide what is news and the reporter is simply the means of getting it packaged to put on the air or in the paper.
What was the story they missed in their frantic coverage of Dick Cheney?
Oh, only that the Bush administration has approved the sale of the British owned, London based Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation to Dubai Ports World, a company owned by the government of the United Arab Emirates.
P&O has run commercial operations at the American ports of New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore Miami and New Orleans. (Bet you didn't know that.)
Once British shareholders approved the sale (they did) and the United States gave the nod (it did), the result is that those American ports will be under the control of the United Arab Emirates – a country with human and financial terrorism ties.
One wonders when we'll outsource our airport security? Then again, maybe we already have and the media missed that story, too. How would we know?
And that's the real issue.
Why didn't we know?
Why was such an important issue discussed and decided behind the scenes?
Why were the decisions made and approved by the Treasury Department's virtually unknown, 12-member "Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States," as well as by varied officials from the Defense, Justice, Commerce, State and Homeland Security departments and our intelligence agencies?
Why did they all agree that the sale and the impending control over shipping in and out of those ports, including security, would not present any national security problems?
How can that be when it's known that the UAE has ties to terrorists, the 9-11 hijackers and financial dealings of al-Qaida?
How can that be when the Treasury Department is monitoring whether money going through Dubai might be supporting proliferation of WMD in such countries as Iran and Libya?
That's the same Treasury Department that approved the port deal.
Where were those intrepid reporters eager to dig out real news? Was this a cover-up because the administration felt making it public knowledge would create an uproar? Why wasn't Congress privy to the negotiations to say nothing of the American public? Why were such important decisions concerning the security of our ports and ship traffic in and out left to a group of unidentified and unelected people?
I have a better question: With all of the "leaks" we have endured recently, how could something like this happen without being leaked?
Actually, the answer to that could be more ominous than I will address here, but for those enamored of conspiracy theories, consider my question a chunk of red meat. Chew on it.
I knew about the deal the weekend of Feb. 4 and 5 and mentioned it on my radio program. It wasn't until midweek that other conservative media picked up on it, and by week's end some congressional members on both sides of the aisle were calling for the approval to be reconsidered.
But Old Media still ignored it. Why didn't the assignment editors at every radio and TV network and every local station and every newspaper send their reporters to cover that story instead of wasting time on a hunting accident?
If you've ever wondered how national media can miss a major story or come to it so late that it's "old" news, what happened last week is a perfect example. The terrible part is that this missed story has major security consequences for our nation. Ann Compton wasn't alone in her ignorance, but for the first time, the public had a chance to see firsthand how out of touch the news media really are and how the public is shortchanged if it depends on the old, "mainstream" media and the cable channels that march in lockstep with them.

And with that said I will remain in denial for a while longer. I want to be triply sure...and then some.

He, the eternal YHVH, the set apart one of Israel, the Father of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, opened Revelations wisdom of chapter 17:9 for a reason that today i don’t even understand, however it is imperative for such a time as this.

Bush Administration Won't Reconsider Ports Deal

WASHINGTON — The Bush administration said Friday it won't reconsider its approval for a United Arab Emirates company to take over significant operations at 21 U.S. ports. The former head of the Sept. 11 commission said the deal "never should have happened."
Opponents, including the agency that runs New York and New Jersey ports, took their case to court, while the company, Dubai Ports World, stepped up efforts to change the minds of congressional critics.
The president's national security adviser said the White House would keep trying to persuade lawmakers — there's more time since the company offered to delay its takeover — but the administration wouldn't reconsider its approval.
"There are questions raised in the Congress, and what this delay allows is for those questions to be addressed on the Hill," Stephen Hadley said. "There's nothing to reopen."
Thomas Kean, a former Republican governor of New Jersey who led the bipartisan probe of the Sept. 11 attacks, said the deal was a big mistake because of past connections between the 2001 hijackers and the UAE.
"It shouldn't have happened, it never should have happened," Kean said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.
The quicker the Bush administration can get out of the deal, the better, he said. "There's no question that two of the 9/11 hijackers came from there and money was laundered through there," Kean said.
Kean acknowledged the UAE is now being helpful by allowing the United States to dock ships in its country's waters, and helping the U.S. with intelligence.
"From our point of view, we don't want foreigners controlling our ports," Kean said. "From their point of view, this is a legitimate company that had a legitimate bid and won, and here are all these congressmen saying all these things about not wanting this company. It looks to them like it's anti-Arab."
"I think this deal is going to be killed," Kean said. "The question is how much damage is this going to do to us before it's killed."
Kean's comments threatened to overshadow moves by the company and the White House to appease critics by delaying the takeover.
"Governor Kean knows as much as anyone how risky it is to deal with the United Arab Emirates," said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and a leading opponent.
"This just proves that no real investigation was ever conducted, and it's unfortunate that he and the other 9/11 commissioners were not contacted before the government approved this."
The former head of the CIA's Usama bin Laden unit joined in the criticism.
"The fact that you are putting a company in place that could already be infiltrated by Al Qaeda is a silly thing to do," said Mike Scheuer, who headed the CIA unit until 1999.
The U.S. operations generating the protests represent about 10 percent of a global $6.8 billion acquisition by the state-run company.
Republicans and Democrats in Congress have denounced the Bush administration for approving the deal through a secretive review process designed to protect national security in big corporate mergers.
Lawmakers led by King and Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., plan to introduce legislation next week that would put the deal on hold while the government conducts further investigation.

"We are at war against terrorists, not any religion or ethnicity. Some politicians seem to have forgotten that. ... Such alarm, verging almost on hysteria, harms our efforts to have the broadest coalition possible against worldwide terrorism," Domenici said.
House GOP leaders plan to meet Tuesday to decide whether they will still support immediate legislation to hold up the sale.
Rep. Thomas Reynolds, R-N.Y., a member of the leadership, said he is "beginning to get what I want, which is to slow down this process so we can take a look at it."
Lobbyists for Dubai Ports went to Capitol Hill Friday to brief staffers. Lawmakers said the company's delay was a positive step, but not a solution.
"I think the onus still remains with the company and for those who approved it, to justify how this is consistent with our national security concerns," said Rep. Vito Fossella, R-N.Y.
In New Jersey, the agency in charge of area ports sued to try to block Dubai Ports from taking over operations there.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey argued in court papers that Dubai Ports World was violating its lease by not getting consent for its pending acquisition of the current port operator, London-based Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co.
New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, who is also suing over the sale, urged other governors to join the case.
Governors of Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania have expressed concerns about the takeover; Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has said he trusts his brother the president on such security issues.

"There are questions raised in the Congress, and what this delay allows is for those questions to be addressed on the Hill," Stephen Hadley said. "There's nothing to reopen."
Thomas Kean, a former Republican governor of New Jersey who led the bipartisan probe of the Sept. 11 attacks, said the deal was a big mistake because of past connections between the 2001 hijackers and the UAE.
"It shouldn't have happened, it never should have happened," Kean said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.
The quicker the Bush administration can get out of the deal, the better, he said. "There's no question that two of the 9/11 hijackers came from there and money was laundered through there," Kean said.
Kean acknowledged the UAE is now being helpful by allowing the United States to dock ships in its country's waters, and helping the U.S. with intelligence.
"From our point of view, we don't want foreigners controlling our ports," Kean said. "From their point of view, this is a legitimate company that had a legitimate bid and won, and here are all these congressmen saying all these things about not wanting this company. It looks to them like it's anti-Arab."
"I think this deal is going to be killed," Kean said. "The question is how much damage is this going to do to us before it's killed."
Kean's comments threatened to overshadow moves by the company and the White House to appease critics by delaying the takeover.
"Governor Kean knows as much as anyone how risky it is to deal with the United Arab Emirates," said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and a leading opponent.
"This just proves that no real investigation was ever conducted, and it's unfortunate that he and the other 9/11 commissioners were not contacted before the government approved this."
The former head of the CIA's Usama bin Laden unit joined in the criticism.
"The fact that you are putting a company in place that could already be infiltrated by Al Qaeda is a silly thing to do," said Mike Scheuer, who headed the CIA unit until 1999.
The U.S. operations generating the protests represent about 10 percent of a global $6.8 billion acquisition by the state-run company.

We have all used the term it’s as plain as the nose on your face, well folks George W. Bush made a deal with the entire Islamic Arab world and by the way 99.9% of the Arab world is Islamic. This isn’t the first time I’ve said this, in fact I said it right before the US attacked Iraq and hundreds unsubscribed from the Golden Report and called me anti-American, among other names, not so nice. I love America but that doesn’t make me want to hide from the truth. Before he attacked Iraq, he put Israel on the table promising to deliver Israel into the hands of his friends the Saudis and others. For this promise the Arab Governments have set still while America took over Iraq. But even the take over of Iraq has backfired in his face and the Terrorist have killed over 2000 American soldiers and 100 British soldiers and will kill a lot more if Bush doesn’t get those boys out of there. The death toll of the Iraqis now goes over 200,000. With the threat of nuclear war with Iran and US troops scattered all over the globe playing global policemen he finds himself unable to take on Iran, which might have been part of the plan all along, and the country he planned to give to the Arab’s (Israel) will most likely have to come to the rescue in order to stop this Terrorist supporting country from obtaining a large arsenal of nuclear weapons in their Jihad to take over the world by Islamic terrorism. The term I’ve heard the most is George Bush is a wonderful Christian man. Well George Bush belongs to the Skull and Bones like His father, a member of the CFR and attends Illuminati meetings. You simply can’t be a good Christian and belong to the Skull and Bones and go to those meetings as a new world order leader. To use another frequent saying, something is not Kosher in Denmark and the Lord allowed me and others to see it right away, but the main stream Christians have rejected the truth and believed what they wanted to believe other than accepting the truth. Many now see Bush for what and who he really is and if this give away of the eastern costal ports don’t open their eyes something has happened to their brains.
With Saudi Arabia supplying nearly all the Terrorist of 9/11 and the UAE supplying two, and within days having the US Government secretly shipped members of the Royal Family out of the US and back to Saudi Arabia and all of this coming out within days, and still the US citizens refused to believe something is rotten in this Government. When you consider the fact that Wahhabi Islam is centered in Saudi Arabia and closely connected the Moslem Brotherhood you don’t have to be real smart to come to the conclusion that the core of the Islamic terrorist problem is centered in Saudi Arabia.

What is amazing is how the Bush Administration has protected the Saudis and it is now becoming obvious that he wants to do that and even more for the UAE (United Arab Emirate). It is also known that the UAE has donated $1million to the Bush Library. He keeps using the term company, but this is a company owned by the UAE, it is in fact an arm of the UAE Government and not just another company. And when Pakistani wanted to ship nuclear technology to Iran they went through the UAE and their nuclear brains Abdul Qadeer was welcomed to use the UAE ports and offices to get this equipment and knowledge into Iran. Now the Bush wants to give these same people control of 6 US Ports, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Miami and New Orleans. That about covers the US eastern coast and when you consider that the west coast has already been taken over by China, Singapore, Denmark and Japan. I am sure you know as I do that the most dangerous of that list is of course China a communist enemy of the US.
But one thing is certain, over the next few days and weeks the Bush spin-doctors will go to work and Bush and his allies with all their money (Arabs) will sell a bill of garbage to the American people once again. The fact that now the US is surrounded on both the Atlantic and the Pacific with not only foreigners but also enemies who want to destroy her and with the help of a US President who belongs to the New World Order.
This is a very complicated issue and one far beyond our ability to fully grasp, but we can get bits and pieces of the truth if we will open our minds. Sure some will call you as they have me, crazy, conspiracy nut and so forth. But when the truth is right in your face, you have to at least consider it.
Back to Israel, with the completion of the ripping of over 9,000 Jews from their homes in Gaza order by George W. Bush and carried out by Ariel Sharon, we now see Hamas taking over and declaring openly that they will destroy Israel. The Kassam rockets are still being fired at us daily and now even our major cities, Ashkelon and Ashdod are being threatened by Hamas, with an acting prime minister who is being promoted by the Bush spin doctors here in Israel as the next Prime Minister.
Not only were Jews made homeless, lost their livelihood, their kids have been traumatized and now will never trust another Israeli government. Still the majority are living in tents and hotel rooms around the country and Ehud Olmert has not only turned his back on them, but sent troops into another settlement, Amona on horse back with clubs and whips to beat young Jews who love their country and don’t want to give it to the enemy Arabs who call themselves “Palestinians”. His orders to the IDF were to deal with them severely, in other words beat them and teach them a lesson. Making it clear that he too is under the orders of one George W. Bush who is still obligated to deliver his promise to destroy Israel for his Arab friends. But in so doing he has brought the wrath of God down on the United States and now the days of the US as you know it are numbered. You will now see storms far worse than what destroyed New Orleans as a direct result of the Gaza Disengagement. The ecology will go from bad to worse, and we all know the Islamic terrorist are just waiting for a time of their choosing to bring to the US some major terrorist attacks that will make 9/11 look pale in comparison. But the final blow will be to the economy that will destroy a country that is materialistic and greedy. A country that has kicked God out of its schools and allowed filth to come into its homes by TV and other medias. But even worse a country that has kicked the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob out of its Churches and replaced Him with a god of convenience and easy believeism. And replaced God’s called men from behind the pulpits with Hirelings who will preach what they are paid to preach and nothing more. Preaching man made doctrines that make a mockery out of the Word of God.
There is one thing this Messenger can promise you, Israel will not be destroyed, a terrible price will be paid for the sins of the people but God will always keep His Word and the Jews will be re-gathered to the Land He promised our Forefathers as an EVERLASTING COVENANT (Israel), for God cannot lie nor will He be mocked.

We have all used the term it’s as plain as the nose on your face, well folks George W. Bush made a deal with the entire Islamic Arab world and by the way 99.9% of the Arab world is Islamic. This isn’t the first time I’ve said this, in fact I said it right before the US attacked Iraq and hundreds unsubscribed from the Golden Report and called me anti-American, among other names, not so nice. I love America but that doesn’t make me want to hide from the truth. Before he attacked Iraq, he put Israel on the table promising to deliver Israel into the hands of his friends the Saudis and others. For this promise the Arab Governments have set still while America took over Iraq. But even the take over of Iraq has backfired in his face and the Terrorist have killed over 2000 American soldiers and 100 British soldiers and will kill a lot more if Bush doesn’t get those boys out of there. The death toll of the Iraqis now goes over 200,000. With the threat of nuclear war with Iran and US troops scattered all over the globe playing global policemen he finds himself unable to take on Iran, which might have been part of the plan all along, and the country he planned to give to the Arab’s (Israel) will most likely have to come to the rescue in order to stop this Terrorist supporting country from obtaining a large arsenal of nuclear weapons in their Jihad to take over the world by Islamic terrorism. The term I’ve heard the most is George Bush is a wonderful Christian man. Well George Bush belongs to the Skull and Bones like His father, a member of the CFR and attends Illuminati meetings. You simply can’t be a good Christian and belong to the Skull and Bones and go to those meetings as a new world order leader. With Saudi Arabia supplying nearly all the Terrorist of 9/11 and the UAE supplying two, and within days having the US Government secretly shipped members of the Royal Family out of the US and back to Saudi Arabia and all of this coming out within days, and still the US citizens refused to believe something is rotten in this Government. When you consider the fact that Wahhabi Islam is centered in Saudi Arabia and closely connected the Moslem Brotherhood you don’t have to be real smart to come to the conclusion that the core of the Islamic terrorist problem is centered in Saudi Arabia.

What is amazing is how the Bush Administration has protected the Saudis and it is now becoming obvious that he wants to do that and even more for the UAE (United Arab Emirate). It is also known that the UAE has donated $1million to the Bush Library. He keeps using the term company, but this is a company owned by the UAE, it is in fact an arm of the UAE Government and not just another company. And when Pakistani wanted to ship nuclear technology to Iran they went through the UAE and their nuclear brains Abdul Qadeer was welcomed to use the UAE ports and offices to get this equipment and knowledge into Iran. Now the Bush wants to give these same people control of 6 US Ports, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Miami and New Orleans. That about covers the US eastern coast and when you consider that the west coast has already been taken over by China, Singapore, Denmark and Japan. I am sure you know as I do that the most dangerous of that list is of course China a communist enemy of the US.
But one thing is certain, over the next few days and weeks the Bush spin-doctors will go to work and Bush and his allies with all their money (Arabs) will sell a bill of garbage to the American people once again. Not only were Jews made homeless, lost their livelihood, their kids have been traumatized and now will never trust another Israeli government. Still the majority are living in tents and hotel rooms around the country and Ehud Olmert has not only turned his back on them, but sent troops into another settlement, Amona on horse back with clubs and whips to beat young Jews who love their country and don’t want to give it to the enemy Arabs who call themselves “Palestinians”. His orders to the IDF were to deal with them severely, in other words beat them and teach them a lesson. Making it clear that he too is under the orders of one George W. Bush who is still obligated to deliver his promise to destroy Israel for his Arab friends. But in so doing he has brought the wrath of God down on the United States and now the days of the US as you know it are numbered. You will now see storms far worse than what destroyed New Orleans as a direct result of the Gaza Disengagement. The ecology will go from bad to worse, and we all know the Islamic terrorist are just waiting for a time of their choosing to bring to the US some major terrorist attacks that will make 9/11 look pale in comparison. But the final blow will be to the economy that will destroy a country that is materialistic and greedy. A country that has kicked God out of its schools and allowed filth to come into its homes by TV and other medias. But even worse a country that has kicked the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob out of its Churches and replaced Him with a god of convenience and easy believeism. And replaced God’s called men from behind the pulpits with Hirelings who will preach what they are paid to preach and nothing more. Preaching man made doctrines that make a mockery out of the Word of God.
There is one thing this Messenger can promise you, Israel will not be destroyed, a terrible price will be paid for the sins of the people but God will always keep His Word and the Jews will be re-gathered to the Land He promised our Forefathers as an EVERLASTING COVENANT (Israel), for God cannot lie nor will He be mocked.

With all the controversy over the United Arab Emirates company approved to run port operations, one man with a lot of experience and expertise in the area says it really doesn't matter who gets the contract – though he is sure it should be an American company.
Robert Pfriender, president of Allied International Development, says everyone is really missing the point on port security.
"The real concern," he tells Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin, "is that if a weapon of mass destruction arrives at one of mainland ports, it will be much too late for any possible security measure to have any effect."
A 12-kiloton nuclear device (small by today's standards, and similar in size to that used on Japan) detonated at the Brooklyn Redhook Terminal would likely kill 2 million people or more as the radioactive fallout rains downwind on the completely unprotected citizens of Long Island, his company estimates.
"Such an event which is unfortunately entirely plausible at the current time would change the nature of our free society in profoundly negative ways and would likely ruin the national economy aside from the great human tragedy of immeasurable proportions," he adds.
And that's why Allied International Development put together a comprehensive plan for Customs and Border Protection to develop three offshore cargo container security inspection ports to inspect each and every container prior to it being cleared for entry to the U.S. mainland. The ports would be located 25 miles offshore to mitigate the effects of a detonation and so any fallout (which is minimal over water) would not pass over land.
"We offered to develop these ports with private financing and at no cost to the government," he said. "The operation of the ports would generate revenue from a small inspection fee for each container. The fully automated robotic process would add only a slight delay to the container delivery time."
Not only did Pfriender ensure the proposal was seen by Customs officials as far back as August 2002, less than a year after the Sept. 11 attacks, he also took the time to see that virtually every member of Congress received this proposal – along with officials in the White House, the Department of Defense, the Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security.
Interestingly, the only response he received from Customs was a letter signed by Jason Ahern, the administration's point man on pushing the UAE deal through.
"Obviously, Mr. Ahern and his superiors have either no idea of what security should be or they purposely choose to not implement a security protocol that will prevent the demise of our country," says Pfriender. "This is now the same department [Homeland Security] that dropped the ball on Katrina relief and has 11,000 mobile homes sitting unused in mud, has left our borders completely unsecured, fail to provide fallout shelters to our citizens despite serious nuclear threats, have reversed their policy on allowing sharp and dangerous items on airliners, have never implemented any screening of checked airline luggage or freight and the list just goes on and on."
Pfriender says Customs chooses to rely on the "Container Security Initiative," which is a virtual (as opposed to a reliable physical) "inspection" of containers. In reality, less than 4 percent of containers are targeted for this "inspection" which is really only a screening, with less than 1 percent of the 4 percent of containers which are screened being actually inspected.
Further, these "inspections" are carried out by foreigners at foreign ports and Customs can only rely upon the honesty of the foreign inspectors. Worse, there are only a few dozen ports enrolled in this program out of thousands of ports worldwide. None of these ports are located in countries which are the most serious threats to U.S. national security.

With the threat of nuclear war with Iran and US troops scattered all over the globe playing global policemen he finds himself unable to take on Iran, which might have been part of the plan all along, and the country he planned to give to the Arab’s (Israel) will most likely have to come to the rescue in order to stop this Terrorist supporting country from obtaining a large arsenal of nuclear weapons in their Jihad to take over the world by Islamic terrorism. The term I’ve heard the most is George Bush is a wonderful Christian man. Well George Bush belongs to the Skull and Bones like His father, a member of the CFR and attends Illuminati meetings. You simply can’t be a good Christian and belong to the Skull and Bones and go to those meetings as a new world order leader. To use another frequent saying, something is not Kosher in Denmark and the Lord allowed me and others to see it right away, but the main stream Christians have rejected the truth and believed what they wanted to believe other than accepting the truth. Many now see Bush for what and who he really is and if this give away of the eastern costal ports don’t open their eyes something has happened to their brains.
With Saudi Arabia supplying nearly all the Terrorist of 9/11 and the UAE supplying two, and within days having the US Government secretly shipped members of the Royal Family out of the US and back to Saudi Arabia and all of this coming out within days, and still the US citizens refused to believe something is rotten in this Government. When you consider the fact that Wahhabi Islam is centered in Saudi Arabia and closely connected the Moslem Brotherhood you don’t have to be real smart to come to the conclusion that the core of the Islamic terrorist problem is centered in Saudi Arabia.

What is amazing is how the Bush Administration has protected the Saudis and it is now becoming obvious that he wants to do that and even more for the UAE (United Arab Emirate). It is also known that the UAE has donated $1million to the Bush Library. He keeps using the term company, but this is a company owned by the UAE, it is in fact an arm of the UAE Government and not just another company. And when Pakistani wanted to ship nuclear technology to Iran they went through the UAE and their nuclear brains Abdul Qadeer was welcomed to use the UAE ports and offices to get this equipment and knowledge into Iran. Now the Bush wants to give these same people control of 6 US Ports, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Miami and New Orleans. That about covers the US eastern coast and when you consider that the west coast has already been taken over by China, Singapore, Denmark and Japan. I am sure you know as I do that the most dangerous of that list is of course China a communist enemy of the US.
But one thing is certain, over the next few days and weeks the Bush spin-doctors will go to work and Bush and his allies with all their money (Arabs) will sell a bill of garbage to the American people once again. The fact that now the US is surrounded on both the Atlantic and the Pacific with not only foreigners but also enemies who want to destroy her and with the help of a US President who belongs to the New World Order.
This is a very complicated issue and one far beyond our ability to fully grasp, but we can get bits and pieces of the truth if we will open our minds. Sure some will call you as they have me, crazy, conspiracy nut and so forth. But when the truth is right in your face, you have to at least consider it.

Still the majority are living in tents and hotel rooms around the country and Ehud Olmert has not only turned his back on them, but sent troops into another settlement, Amona on horse back with clubs and whips to beat young Jews who love their country and don’t want to give it to the enemy Arabs who call themselves “Palestinians”. His orders to the IDF were to deal with them severely, in other words beat them and teach them a lesson. Making it clear that he too is under the orders of one George W. Bush who is still obligated to deliver his promise to destroy Israel for his Arab friends. But in so doing he has brought the wrath of God down on the United States and now the days of the US as you know it are numbered. You will now see storms far worse than what destroyed New Orleans as a direct result of the Gaza Disengagement. The ecology will go from bad to worse, and we all know the Islamic terrorist are just waiting for a time of their choosing to bring to the US some major terrorist attacks that will make 9/11 look pale in comparison. But the final blow will be to the economy that will destroy a country that is materialistic and greedy. A country that has kicked God out of its schools and allowed filth to come into its homes by TV and other medias. But even worse a country that has kicked the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob out of its Churches and replaced Him with a god of convenience and easy believeism. And replaced God’s called men from behind the pulpits with Hirelings who will preach what they are paid to preach and nothing more. Preaching man made doctrines that make a mockery out of the Word of God.
There is one thing this Messenger can promise you, Israel will not be destroyed, a terrible price will be paid for the sins of the people but God will always keep His Word and the Jews will be re-gathered to the Land He promised our Forefathers as an EVERLASTING COVENANT (Israel), for God cannot lie nor will He be mocked.
God has called those who He would to prepare for the coming mass Aliyah out of Europe and He has called others to assist those Jews in the US and elsewhere. For the time is near when all the world will be turned against us Jews as it is written in Zech. 14:2. The Jews of France are buying up homes in Israel to be sure they have a place to run, and Jewish men in France having to remove their Kippah for fear of being recognized as a Jew on the street and being beaten or even killed.
One large Islamic terrorist attack could start the mass Aliyah from Europe, and if it happens in the US first the Europeans will say we must get rid of the Jews in order to save ourselves. ADL to U.S.: Freeze seaport contract with UAE due to Israel boycott

The Anti-Defamation League is demanding the American administration prevent a Dubai-owned corporation from operating seaports in the United States until the United Arab Emirates issues an official statement indicating it has abandoned the boycott of Israel.
"Dubai continues to be an active partner in the economic boycott of Israel," ADL Director Abraham Foxman told Haaretz on Tuesday.
"This fact alone is reason enough to suspend or even cancel the implementation of the contract [for the operation of the seaports]," Foxman said.
In a letter addressed to Treasury Secretary John Snow, Foxman wrote:
"According to the Department of Commerce, as recently as 2005, the government of Dubai was alleged to be asking U.S. companies to certify that goods shipped to Dubai were 'neither of Israeli origin nor do they contain Israeli materials, nor are being exported from Israel.'
"For decades, the United States has been a leader in the fight against the economic boycott of Israel... Dubai, an adherent to this boycott, should not benefit from America's open trade policy.
"There are many complex issues involved in this deal and many serious debates are going on around the country regarding port security and process. Aside from these considerations, if Dubai continues its anti-Israel activity, it must be grounds for the cancellation of the deal."
U.S. President George Bush said Tuesday he remains supportive of a UAE-based company's takeover of some U.S. port operations, even though a new, more intensive investigation of the deal's potential security risks has yet to begin.
Bush is the final arbiter of that second review. Yet, he said after an Oval Office meeting with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi that "my position hasn't changed" on support for transferring control of management of some major U.S. port facilities from a British company to Dubai-owned DP World.
The administration's approval of the deal has caused an uproar from Republicans and Democrats in Congress that it could open the country to terrorist dangers. Lawmakers criticized the deal anew Tuesday, despite Republican leaders' hopes that the furor had diminished.
Foxman said that "even if solutions are found for the other problems, the administration and Congress must demand Dubai formally renounce its participation in the boycott of Israel in order to be worthy of a contract with the American government."
Foxman noted that, when the U.S. was negotiating trade relations it Bahrain, it had demanded the Gulf nation abandon its participation in the boycott of Israel.
Hoping to quell the bipartisan rebellion and prevent a potentially embarrassing clash over legislation, the Bush administration agreed Sunday to DP World's request for a 45-day investigation of deal's potential security risks, a second review that was not done before the administration's January 17 approval.
The investigation will result in a report submitted to the president, who will have 15 days to decide whether to approve it.
Bush suggested there was no reason to think the second investigation would produce any different outcome than the first.
"I look forward to a good, consistent review," he said as he and Berlusconi alternated in taking questions from reporters in the Oval Office.
He urged Congress to "please, look at the facts."
"What kind of signal does it send throughout the world if its okay for a British company to mange the ports but not a company that has been secured - that has been cleared for security purposes from the Arab world?" he said. After his remarks on port security, Bush told the translator not to translate his answer into Italian, unlike his other responses.
On Capitol Hill, where lawmakers returned after a weeklong break, Republicans joined Democrats in criticizing the deal, claiming that the government's initial approval of it was flawed.
They offered as proof Monday's disclosure that the U.S. Coast Guard had raised concerns weeks ago that, because of U.S. intelligence gaps, it could not determine whether the UAE company, DP World, might support terrorist operations.
Bush administration officials say those concerns were addressed and resolved.
But House Homeland Security Committee chairman Peter King, R-N.Y., called the Coast Guard assessment "just another example of many unanswered questions."
Countering that at a Senate appropriations hearing, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff called the Coast Guard documents "an early report" that ultimately concluded that DP World's acquisition of P&O "in and of itself, does not pose a significant threat to U.S. assets in U.S. ports."
Pressed by Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., Chertoff said he saw the Coast Guard memo "about a week ago," but disagreed that it represented a warning. "I don't see it as a flashing light," Chertoff said.
Elsewhere in Washington, former president Bill Clinton told reporters at a meeting of the nation's governors that the process by which a multi-agency panel approved the deal was "too secretive, too low-level."
"The second thing and the larger problem is that everybody in America knows we don't do enough on port security," Clinton said.
In an interview with The Associated Press, King said he was concerned by Bush administration comments that the 45-day delay would merely be an opportunity to educate Congress.
"It is for them to conduct an investigation that they never conducted in the first place," King said. "There's concerns among Republicans that I've spoken to that the administration has not taken the investigation seriously. They want to have a real investigation - a very intense investigation."
King said he planned to introduce legislation Tuesday that could give Congress an opportunity to block the deal if lawmakers are dissatisfied with the results of an investigation but he suggested he's unlikely to push for an immediate vote. "It has to be a weapon held in reserve to assure there is a real investigation," King said.
A bipartisan group of senators have introduced the same measure in the Senate. Some Senate Republicans said the fresh investigation - brokered by congressional GOP leaders to quell the political outcry - wasn't sufficient.
Sen. John Warner, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said during that panel's hearing on threats to national security that he found "flaws" in the Bush administration's earlier consideration of the ports deal.
But Warner, R-Va., expressed optimism the government will approve the transaction after a lengthier investigation and he praised the "high degree of mutual trust" between the United Arab Emirates and United States.
On Monday, Sen. Susan Collins, the chairwoman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, disclosed the Coast Guard document during a hearing and said she was "more convinced than ever that the process was truly flawed."

This I find amuzing as well. Saddam has been held all this time, and no one would come forward to testify against him. His lawyers where being killed, and evidently the witnesses against him threatened. Can anyone say WHY ALL OF THE SUDDEN are they coming FORWARD, who is watching their BACKS????????????????????????????????????????????I watched a brief part of the news yesterday and Bush announced that it would probably be pretty soon that Bin Laden would be captured.
Then the next news clip I see is witnesses coming forward to testify against the atrocities Saddam and his army commited.
You see the sequence of these things unfolding, and it seems so evident to notice that there is much more going on that is being revealed in a timely manner...and quickly.

With all the controversy over the United Arab Emirates company approved to run port operations, one man with a lot of experience and expertise in the area says it really doesn't matter who gets the contract – though he is sure it should be an American company.
Robert Pfriender, president of Allied International Development, says everyone is really missing the point on port security.
"The real concern," he tells Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin, "is that if a weapon of mass destruction arrives at one of mainland ports, it will be much too late for any possible security measure to have any effect.
A 12-kiloton nuclear device (small by today's standards, and similar in size to that used on Japan) detonated at the Brooklyn Redhook Terminal would likely kill 2 million people or more as the radioactive fallout rains downwind on the completely unprotected citizens of Long Island, his company estimates.
"Such an event which is unfortunately entirely plausible at the current time would change the nature of our free society in profoundly negative ways and would likely ruin the national economy aside from the great human tragedy of immeasurable proportions," he adds.
And that's why Allied International Development put together a comprehensive plan for Customs and Border Protection to develop three offshore cargo container security inspection ports to inspect each and every container prior to it being cleared for entry to the U.S. mainland. The ports would be located 25 miles offshore to mitigate the effects of a detonation and so any fallout (which is minimal over water) would not pass over land.
"We offered to develop these ports with private financing and at no cost to the government," he said. "The operation of the ports would generate revenue from a small inspection fee for each container. The fully automated robotic process would add only a slight delay to the container delivery time."
Not only did Pfriender ensure the proposal was seen by Customs officials as far back as August 2002, less than a year after the Sept. 11 attacks, he also took the time to see that virtually every member of Congress received this proposal – along with officials in the White House, the Department of Defense, the Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security.
Interestingly, the only response he received from Customs was a letter signed by Jason Ahern, the administration's point man on pushing the UAE deal through.
"Obviously, Mr. Ahern and his superiors have either no idea of what security should be or they purposely choose to not implement a security protocol that will prevent the demise of our country," says Pfriender. "This is now the same department [Homeland Security] that dropped the ball on Katrina relief and has 11,000 mobile homes sitting unused in mud, has left our borders completely unsecured, fail to provide fallout shelters to our citizens despite serious nuclear threats, have reversed their policy on allowing sharp and dangerous items on airliners, have never implemented any screening of checked airline luggage or freight and the list just goes on and on."
Pfriender says Customs chooses to rely on the "Container Security Initiative," which is a virtual (as opposed to a reliable physical) "inspection" of containers. In reality, less than 4 percent of containers are targeted for this "inspection" which is really only a screening, with less than 1 percent of the 4 percent of containers which are screened being actually inspected.
Further, these "inspections" are carried out by foreigners at foreign ports and Customs can only rely upon the honesty of the foreign inspectors. Worse, there are only a few dozen ports enrolled in this program out of thousands of ports worldwide. None of these ports are located in countries which are the most serious threats to U.S. national security.

Al Qaeda bragged of infiltrating the United Arab Emirates government, according to a 2002 letter posted on a U.S. military site and discovered by ThinkProgress.

In the letter, dated in May or June of 2002 and translated by the U.S., al Qaeda declares that the Emirates is "committing acts of injustice" in order to "appease the Americans' wishes which include: spying, persecution and detainment." In return, the group says they have infiltrated the Emirate government. The letter can be seen here.
"You are well aware that we have infiltrated your security, censorship and monetary agencies along with other agencies that should not be mentioned," the authors write. "Therefore, we warn of the continuation of practicing such policies, which do not serve your interests and will only cost you many problems that will place you in an embarrassing state before your citizens."
"Our policies are not to operate in your homeland and/or tamper with your security because we are occupied with others which we consider are enemies of this nation," they continue. "If you compel us to do so, we are prepared to postpone our program for a short period and allocate some time for you."
It concludes by asking that the Emirates release all detainees "since [the] September incidents."
The claim that al Qaeda had infiltrated the UAE government seems to raise serious concern as to whether a U.S.-backed plan to turn over 21 ports to a company owned by the country's governing monarchs is sound.
During the initial 30-day review of the port deal, the Coast Guard warned of gaps in intelligence as regards the Arab firm, saying, "There are many intelligence gaps, concerning the potential for DPW or P&O assets to support terrorist operations, that precludes an overall threat assessment" of the potential merger.
"The breadth of the intelligence gaps also infer potential unknown threats against a large number of potential vulnerabilities," the half-page assessment added.
Another assessment by the General Accountability Office -- which has received scant attention -- concluded that the Committee for Foreign Investment, the arm of the Treasury Department that approves such deals, could not possibly conduct a thorough intelligence review in 30 days. It adds that the U.S. has put pressure for the reviews to be conducted faster.
“In complex cases in which national security concerns have been raised ... case documentation we reviewed revealed the significant pressures some agencies face to complete analysis within 23 days,” the GAO said in a 2005 report, noting that the Justice Department “shared our concern with respect to the time constraints imposed by the current process. Specifically, Justice stated that ‘gathering timely and fully vetted input from the intelligence community is critical to a thorough and comprehensive national security assessment. Any potential extension of the time available to the participants for the collection and analysis of that information would be helpful.'"

During the initial 30-day review of the port deal, the Coast Guard warned of gaps in intelligence as regards the Arab firm, saying, "There are many intelligence gaps, concerning the potential for DPW or P&O assets to support terrorist operations, that precludes an overall threat assessment" of the potential merger.
"The breadth of the intelligence gaps also infer potential unknown threats against a large number of potential vulnerabilities," the half-page assessment added.
Another assessment by the General Accountability Office -- which has received scant attention -- concluded that the Committee for Foreign Investment, the arm of the Treasury Department that approves such deals, could not possibly conduct a thorough intelligence review in 30 days. It adds that the U.S. has put pressure for the reviews to be conducted faster.
“In complex cases in which national security concerns have been raised ... case documentation we reviewed revealed the significant pressures some agencies face to complete analysis within 23 days,” the GAO said in a 2005 report, noting that the Justice Department “shared our concern with respect to the time constraints imposed by the current process. Specifically, Justice stated that ‘gathering timely and fully vetted input from the intelligence community is critical to a thorough and comprehensive national security assessment. Any potential extension of the time available to the participants for the collection and analysis of that information would be helpful.'"

Al Qaeda bragged of infiltrating the United Arab Emirates government, according to a 2002 letter posted on a U.S. military site and discovered by ThinkProgress.

In the letter, dated in May or June of 2002 and translated by the U.S., al Qaeda declares that the Emirates is "committing acts of injustice" in order to "appease the Americans' wishes which include: spying, persecution and detainment." WASHINGTON — The United Arab Emirates intends to operate U.S. military factories.
The Bush administration has informed Congress of a review of the UAE acquisition of a British manufacturer of engine components for U.S.military aircraft and main battle tanks. The British firm operates nine factories, including military production facilities in Connecticut and Georgia.
Officials said Dubai International Capital has acquired the London-based Doncasters Group for $1.2 billion. Doncasters produces engine components and turbine blades for military platforms, and its clients include Boeing, General Electric, Honeywell and Pratt and Whitney, Middle East Newsline reported.
"It's a standard business deal by a consortium that seeks
opportunities," an official said. "But it also fits in well with Dubai's plans to create an aerospace industry."
The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States completed a standard 30-day review and last week decided to extend the investigation for another 45 days. Dubai International is part of Dubai Holding, the third-largest shareholder in DaimlerChrysler.
The latest reviews by CFIUS came amid sharp opposition in Congress to the panel's decision to approve the UAE takeover of operations of six U.S. ports. In January, CFIUS approved the $6.8 billion takeover of Dubai Port World of a British company that has long operated the American ports.
Congressional sources said the Senate Banking Committee was informed of the CFIUS investigation of Dubai International on Feb. 27. The committee was also informed that the Treasury panel has ordered a 45-day review of a proposed Israeli takeover of a U.S. contractor for the American intelligence community.
On Thursday, Deputy Treasury Secretary Robert Kimmitt said the
additional review of Dubai International stemmed from what he termed unresolved security questions. He would not elaborate.
Officials acknowledged that CFIUS has reduced security reviews of
foreign companies that aim to establish a presence in the United States.
In 2005, 65 foreign companies were investigated, compared to 204 in 1989.
"We clearly have to do some things inside the departments, and we
clearly have to do quite a bit in finding ways to provide you more promptly with the information you need," Kimmitt told the Senate Banking Committee.
