I just got done with the last of the Chronicles of Narnia...

The Last Battle by CS Lewis is a spine tingling book... Possibly his most blantant fiction books that outlines his beliefs...

I've also finished reading an excellent book
When Bad Christians Happen to Good People : Where We Have Failed Each Other and How to Reverse the Damage by Dave Burchett. This book really dives into the issue of being burnt by churches and its people and its effects. Yes, the author is Christian.


Currently, I am reading Upton Sinclair's novel "The Jungle"... Somewhat muckraking, but a very good book that opened the eyes to the conditions of meat plants at the turn of the century Chicago.


Do you have any recommendations?

I can recommend Kelly Varner's books. He's an excellent teacher and has great insight.

It's a good book to prove what 'not to do'.

Except it's so awful it's hard to get through.

What type of books do you like to read?

I buy many books from Amazon.com. I like the fact that many books have reviews by people who have read them. For the most part, I have been pleased with all the books I have purchased that had good reviews. Even just to go to Amazon to read reviews and then purchase the book locally. I made an excel spreadsheet of several books I want to buy after reading various reviews.

I also added notes to what they entail, I read books on various viewpoints but I am sure some people would like to read only from a specific view. You can also research them.

I enjoy reading books I can learn from or be inspired by. Christian books, Biographies, medical books, history books, etc. Lately, I have been more fascinated with Bible Prophecy books. I even like poetry. Has anyone read any of the "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" books? I enjoyed those as well. I would also like to read the Last Lecture by Randy Pausch (who recently passed from cancer).

My MIL reads crime novels (like Patricia Cornwell?). I think that is the author's name. I don't care for crime novels personally.

I have not read many novels myself.

Reading is big in my family, I will read sometimes from 9PM until 2AM (once the kids are in bed). When I really like I book it is hard to put down and I finish it quickly. I also take time to read the Bible, many of the Prophecy Books and other Christian books I read, I reference the Bible with them. My husband is not big on reading at all (he gets aggravated when my nose is stuck in a book) ,but my boys love books.

I just finished 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper. It was decent, but not as good as I had anticipated. That is the only NDE (Near Death Experience) book I have read, but I am considering getting another one.

Yes, you are right, but if some of them help me understand scriptures better, I think they are okay. Plus, I think reading a Christian based book (if I am going to read something) is better than picking up a book that I walk away with nothing learned. But very good point you made!

Fere, The Last Lecture is an excellent book. It reminds us to think about the type of legacy we wish to leave behind when we pass on, and live .. and die ... accordingly.

My all-time favorite novels are This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness by Frank Peretti.

I adore C.S. Lewis. His Screwtape Letters is a wonderful read. There are many others, of course. You can never go wrong with him, in my humble opinion.

Not widely known is Rees Howells, Intercessor by Norman Grubb. That is the book that God used to bring me to total surrender and made me understand what real intercession is all about. I re-read it every so often, and its impact on me never diminishes.

My most recent Christian read was The New York City Noon Hour Prayer Meeting by Talbot Chambers. Powerful stuff that teaches us that intercession and God reaching out to unbelievers for their salvation go hand in hand.

i am also reading up on Judaizing teachers since i noticed we have one on this forum for me i am doing this so i can prottect those god has intrusted into my partners care she is the head pastor and i am seeing i wil need to do what paul did study he went away for 3yrs and studied when he was convicted

i am also doing a ministers training course so i will have no free time to read but one book i want to get is called the shack its a christian book most of my friends have read this book so before i get lumped with assignments i am doing as i said reading up on Judaizing teachers and looking at the mosiac law

its good for one to be prepared as i say and i am seeing i have a lot to learn lol i fried my brain when i was smoking marijuana shooting up herroin and speed up my vains so i am praying that god restores the brain cells i damaged

i am seeing i can only take so much in and when i ask god to help me to focus and remember he responds plus i can only afford to buy one book at a time i do go on e bay as i am seeing e bay has good cheep christian books up for sale in Australia

my fiancee is aware and she is working close with me and so is one of her male pastors


there are Judaizing teachers living among us who want to trap us these Judaizing teachers pray on the weak and on the new christians paul wittnessed the damage these Judaizing teachers did concerning how be witched the Galatians were and also seeing that the people of Colossians were tricked

Judazing teachers pray on weak christians more then they prey on strong christians who study there bible and who take ther time

I was called a Judaizer by some "Christians" in another forum once only because they read that I went to a Jewish roots class in my church. I think they might have held some hatred...(without realizing it) for the Jews. I know they believed in replacement theology (which is totally wrong).

I have a feeling they are going to be shocked when they see Yeshua.

May I make a suggestion? Study up on Romans chap. 11.

I think many Christians don't realize and are not greatful enough about where our faith comes from.

If someone does not love the Jews and can only sit in judgement of them and see the bad.....then I seriously question the persons belief in God.

You cannot love YESHUA and not the love the people He came from.

I watched something very disturbing yesterday about the Nazi party infiltrating America back in the 30's. As they gave their sieg heil salute....it was so demonic. And many of them thought they were Christians.

My spirit was so grieved at hearing what they said. And then I got angry.

i am one of these guys that dont hate the jews how can i when my grandfather took a family in to protect them when the jews were running from hitler i know what you mean i see this hear in sydney i am only studying for my self so i can give out the right answers with out geting into biblical debates even though i know christ came for the jews i am saddened to how he was rejected by his own kind and i can see why he wanted to reach his own kind first

i also watch a jewish program on the australian christian channel called jewls but i dont know how spot on these guys are they are a husband and wife team what they have been saying is good and i watch them on saturday afternoon chloe you can get to there web site by typing jewls


i am seeing chloe that my brain is fried and slowy god is healing me i did a lot of damage and i am sort of freaking out with the responsabilitys that wil be expected off me my fiancee and a male pastor under her are working close with me i am seeing i am going to have to study as paul did shut my self of for three years and only preach in our church in la castellana as kristina is teaching me i go over what i want to preach and she helps me she goes over my mistakes she is a power full preacher i am just a normal guy who depends on god to pull him through

when i was in the philippines early this jan she did this with me i read to her like i was preaching to her members and she went over my mistakes and helped me over come some fears i am so great full for the godly women god has put into my life chloe


i will let you know how the book is as i want to get this book a lot of my friends have been giving good reports about the shack

if you can pass any more advice and guide lines i would be great full i am learning my fiance told me not to be ashamed this ministers course is going to challange me but i am going to force my self

Well I don't know about anyone else on here Damo....but I cerainly am impressed with you.

God is so wonderful how he brings some people together. And it seems He is drawing you to learn more.

Please don't ever feel bad for not being as strong in the Word as you see others.

Do you know that I see God many times will take the ones that everyone else would discard and He uses them greatly?

How wonderful is that?

All it takes is a humble heart and a willingness to let the Lord lead you. And I think you have that covered.
