Iran’s FM Arrives in Beirut

(IsraelNN.com) Iran’s Foreign Minister arrived in Beirut a short time ago. According to senior analysts in Israel, his presence signals direct Iranian involvement in the ongoing warfare, stating he is most likely working to strengthen Hizbullah interests against Israel.

Raise readiness, Assad tells Syrian Army 41 minutes ago
DAMASCUS (Reuters) - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad told the Syrian military on Monday to raise its readiness, pledging not to abandon support for Lebanese resistance against Israel.

"We are facing international circumstances and regional challenges that require caution, alert, readiness and preparedness," Assad said.
"The barbaric war of annihilation the Israeli aggression is waging on our people in Lebanon and Palestine is increasing in ferocity," Assad said in a written address on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the foundation of the Syria Arab Army.
Diplomats in Damascus say the Syrian army has been on alert since the Israeli onslaught on Lebanon began on July 12 after Hizbollah fighters captured two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border operation.

What's Wrong With Picture
If you have Fox News channel, you know how fast the words along the bottom scroll across the screen. What are the odds of catching a sentence -- let alone a particularly revealing sentence? Well, I apparently did. And, it was completely by accident.
After reading the bottom sentence, read the larger words above that I was really after -- the words explaining the message that's being delivered by Secretary of State Rice. Here's my point: If Israel needs two more weeks to defeat her mortal enemy Hezbollah, why is Rice -- who has been Israel's strongest supporter in this crisis -- suddenly seeking a cease-fire?
Perhaps here we find our clue.
I happened across the French Ambassador to the UN speaking after yesterday's emergency session in New York. Two things caught my attention. The first thing I noticed was that it was Sunday. The second was the alarm revealed in the French Ambassador's conversation with the reporter. Although I didn't catch all his words, the Ambassador expressed his concerns how the current Middle East crisis could spread throughout the entire Islamic world all the way to China. And, as he named the countries to which the crisis could spread, he provided the numbers of the peoples that could potentially become involved. I forgot the numbers. But, what I specifically remember, the numbers he gave as he got to China were the highest.
Let's take a look at what caused the French Ambassador such noticeable stress and what caused Rice to suddenly call for a cease-fire.
In order to understand what's really going on in the Middle East, Fox News turned to former Secretary of State Henry Kissenger. Whether they like him or not, people in the know consider Kissenger one of the world's greatest diplomats. If anyone knows what's going on, it's Kissenger. And, Kissenger wasted no time pointing his seasoned finger directly at Iran, and Iran's continuing nuclear standoff with the so-called "six powers."
Let's put this together. Israel was evidently suckered into bombing a building where over fifty civilians -- half of whom were women and children -- and suddenly a cartoon intifada style civil unrest sprung up in the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan and Iran. The reason I say "cartoon intifada style" is, as it turned out was the case with the cartoon intifada, it's becoming obvious the response in the streets to the Israeli bombing in Qana may have been coordinated.
If so, this brings up the question who coordinated the uprising. Again, the finger may point to Iran. In fact, it turns out the Hezbollah leader who ordered the cross border attack against Israel may actually be hiding in the Iranian Embassy in Beirut.
Now, let's put this together again, but this time from the perspective of Bible prophecy. The most interesting part to me is the alarm in the French Ambassador. You see, France is one of the most important elements in the 10-nation Western European Union (WEU) alliance. France is both a nuclear power and one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. So, what's a concern for France, is a concern for the entire WEU alliance. And, if the UN convened an emergency session on a Sunday over what's going on in the streets of the Middle East, you can bet that France and the WEU alliance is conferring about the crisis too.
So, it's no wonder that France is pushing the Finish EU Presidency to support Javier Solana's peace efforts in the crisis. Solana, as you may know, is not only the EU's High Representative and future super Foreign Minister, Solana is also Secretary General of the WEU 10-nation alliance.
What we're witnessing is biblical. If these events continue in there current direction, the fear is the entire Western world -- including Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, China, Russia and many others -- could be swept into a conflict of apocalyptic proportions. So, Iran must be stopped.
But, what if Iran can't be stopped? What then? If these events can't be stopped, the only solution left to the world may be an attempt to elimination the flip side of their problem -- the State of Israel. Unfortunately, such an attempt is what the Bible actually predicts. And, that's what's wrong with the picture.
I wonder how I caught that sentence?

FROM WND'S JERUSALEM BUREAU
Syrian group claims it attacked Israel
New organization says it will stage more assaults against Jewish state

TEL AVIV – A group claiming to operate out of Syria took credit today for what it said was an attack against Israeli troops operating near the Syria-Israel border, according to a source in Syrian President Bashar Assad's Ba'ath party.
The claim preceded statements from Assad today warning Syria would not be deterred from helping Lebanon.
The group, calling itself the Front for the Liberation of the Golan, faxed a letter to Ba'ath party officials stating it planted a roadside bomb that targeted an Israeli army jeep today, killing one Israeli soldier.
A spokesman for the Israeli Defense Forces said no soldiers were killed or injured today near the Israel-Syrian border.
A mine did reportedly explode on the Syrian side of the border, but no injuries were reported among Israeli troops. It wasn't clear what caused the explosion. Military officials have warned the past few weeks Hezbollah may fire into Syria in attempts to draw Damascus into a confrontation with Israel.
Israel is operating in select areas close to the Syrian border at positions near Mount Hermon and the Golan Heights. Israeli officials say the Syrian army has been placed on high alert along the border with Israel and Lebanon, but it hasn't staged any attacks.
Israel captured the Golan Heights, a strategic mountainous territory, after Syria used the terrain to attack the Jewish state in 1967 and again in 1973. It borders Israel, Syria and Lebanon.
Israeli security officials said they had no information about the Front for the Liberation of the Golan.
The Ba'ath party official told WND the Front formed last month and will attempt attacks against Israelis. The official said the group claims to consist of "hundreds" of Syrian volunteers, many from the Syrian border with Turkey.
The claim by the Front was followed by statements today from Assad in which he instructed the Syrian army to "be prepared for all scenarios because we believe that falling for the sake of heaven (martyrdom) is the only way to freedom and victory.
"Syria, which stood by its brother (Lebanon) and sacrificed martyrs to defend Lebanon's freedom as we did for Syria's sovereignty, remains as always adamant in standing by our Arab people who's fighting in Lebanon and Palestine, and by the bold national resistance who struck the enemy. All threats voiced by powers in the world who support t he enemy won't deter us from continuing to support our brothers."
Syria, along with Iran, is a primary sponsor of Hezbollah. Israel says Syria has been allowing weaponry, including thousands of rockets, to be transported from its borders to Hezbollah in Lebanon. The leaders of Palestinian terror groups, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, operate openly from Damascus.
Syria is also accused by the U.S. of allowing insurgents to cross through its borders to attack American troops in Iraq. There have been reports of Syria providing weapons and intelligence information to the insurgents.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Amir Peretz and IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz have stated dozens of times since the Jewish state started its military campaign against Hezbollah July 12 that Israel has no intention of acting against Syria.

Manage Alerts | What Is This? JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israel's Security Cabinet has approved an expansion of the ground campaign against Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office announced early Tuesday.
The announcement came hours after Olmert said Monday there would be no cease-fire in the coming days.
"Quite a few days of fighting are still before us," Olmert told a conference of local officials.
"We will stop the war when the [rocket] threat is removed ..., our captive soldiers return home in peace, and you are able to live in safety and security."
"We are paying a very precious and almost unbearable price in terms of loss of life, major damage to public and private property and tranquility -- and we're not prepared to give up our right to live perfectly ordinary lives, which are not subject to terrorism and hate and fanaticism," Olmert said.
He said Hezbollah has suffered a "heavy blow" in the fighting. Israeli troops and airstrikes have inflicted serious damage to Hezbollah's capacity to launch rockets into Israel, and its supply routes from Syria have been hampered, he said.
Other developments on Monday pointed to a lengthening of the 20-day-old conflict.
The United Nations Security Council postponed indefinitely a meeting on setting up a new peacekeeping force for the area.
President Bush said Monday there could be no cease-fire until Hezbollah was reined in and international borders respected, reiterating the U.S. stance on the conflict. (Watch Bush call for 'a cease-fire that will last' -- 3:22)
Meanwhile, Hezbollah's Al-Manar television station claimed Hezbollah missiles hit an Israeli warship. An Israeli security source said no Israeli vessel had been hit, according to Reuters news service.
Reuters also reported that Hezbollah said the attack was retaliation for Sunday's bombing of Qana, Lebanon, that killed at least 54 civilians. ( Watch how the massive blast made a sanctuary into a tomb -- 4:45 )
The airstrike -- which killed many children and sparked international outrage -- threatened to derail work toward a resolution in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas.
Israel has called the Qana airstrike a tragic mistake, and Olmert apologized for the pain the Lebanese people have endured. But he added, "We are fighting terrorists who know no bounds."
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Monday directed his country's military to heighten its readiness, vowing to back Lebanese resistance against Israel, the state news agency SANA reported Monday.
U.N. talks on hold
At the United Nations, a Security Council meeting on planning for a new peacekeeping force had been delayed "until there is more political clarity" on the path ahead in the Middle East conflict, Reuters news agency reported
U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan had called the meeting last Friday, but the world's major powers have said no force can be put in place until fighting stops and Israel, Lebanon and Hezbollah agree to its deployment, Reuters reported.
And Israel's defense minister told the nation's parliament it would increase military pressure against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Despite an agreement to stop airstrikes for 48 hours, Israel dropped bombs in southern Lebanon on Monday.
In its agreement, Israel had reserved the right to hit targets that it considered an immediate threat. (Watch Lebanese town heavily damaged -- :44)
But the Israeli army said Monday's strikes near the Lebanese village of Tayba were meant to protect ground forces operating in the border area and were not aimed at specific targets.
The Israeli military expressed regret that one of the strikes hit a Lebanese military vehicle outside Tyre, Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces said it was unclear how many people were killed. Earlier, a senior Lebanese Interior Ministry official said the airstrike killed an aide to a Lebanese general and wounded three soldiers. The general survived the attack, the official said.
The IDF said it thought the car was carrying a senior Hezbollah militant involved in directing rocket fire on Israel.
Israeli troops enter village
Also Monday, Israeli troops entered the southern Lebanese village of Aita Al-Shaab, according to the IDF.
"There is an operation going on over there -- this is the first time troops have been in this area," an Israeli army spokesman told Reuters.
Hezbollah said its guerrillas were engaging the advancing force in fierce fighting, Reuters reported.
Earlier Monday, the IDF said its aircraft fired on open fields surrounding its ground forces in the Tayba area. Three Israeli soldiers in the area suffered minor injuries after Hezbollah fighters hit their tank with a missile, an Israeli army spokesman said.
Two Hezbollah rockets hit in an open area of the northern Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona on Monday, but no casualties were reported, Israeli police officials said. The firings marked the first Hezbollah rocket attacks into northern Israel from southern Lebanon in a day. Police officials said 134 Hezbollah rockets slammed into the Jewish state on Sunday, injuring 48.
The conflict began July 12 when Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers and killed three others in a cross-border raid.
Israeli airstrikes and artillery have pounded Lebanon since then, leaving nearly 500 people dead, Lebanese Internal Security Forces said. Hezbollah has responded by firing scores of rockets a day into northern Israel, killing at least 18 Israeli civilians, according to IDF.
Clashes with Hezbollah have left 33 Israeli troops dead, IDF said. Hezbollah's casualties were not known.
Bush, speaking in Florida on Monday, said Israel had the right to defend itself and called on Iran and Syria to stop aiding Hezbollah.
"Iran must end its financial support and supply of weapons to terrorist groups like Hezbollah," Bush said. "Syria must end its support for terror and respect the sovereignty of Lebanon." (Full story)
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, speaking earlier Monday, said she believed a resolution to the crisis could be reached this week. (Full story)
In New York, Olmert's deputy, Shimon Peres, said Israel's problem is with Hezbollah's Syrian and Iranian backers, not Lebanon.
"Though Hezbollah is a Lebanese body, they don't serve any Lebanese purpose," he said. Their purpose, he said, is to "make Lebanon part of the sphere of influence of Iran." (Full story)
CNN's Nada Husseini, John King, Elise Labott, Richard Roth and Ben Wedeman contributed to this report.

Lets say that the Bible Code is correct for August 3rd, 2006. Iran and Syria come into the conflict and Israel strikes back. What could the scenario look like? I can easily surmise that Iran has convinced Assad to take his Syrian forces and attack Israel with the promise that Iran would back up the attack. Iran, not caring about Muslim blood would also then convince Syria to launch SCUD missiles that include chemical warheads. Further, Iran will enclose a nuclear weapon bought off of North Korea or the former USSR to light up the sky above Tel Aviv. Iran knows that Israel will respond and that response will include nuclear weapons upon Damascus and parts of Iran. The day after Israel's response, a supernova explodes, creating a sign in the sky indicating the end-times are now upon the Earth. China and Russia, not willing to permit Israel and the U.S. to control the Middle east, launch their own battle plans in coming to Iran's aid. At the same time, Chavez starts an oil embargo on the U.S. and sends forces across its borders to take over South America. In Korea, the North attacks the South and starts its own nuclear exchange. Nuclear weapons are detonated over the U.S. from muslim terrorists aligned with Iran, North Korea, and Russia and the U.S. is partially brought back two centuries and the anti-christ soon appears by September to create a false peace after Israel is seen to miraculously survive the attacks from many muslim nations, Russia, and Chinese elements. (A difficult story to swallow, but more plausible every day.)
