Officials Puzzled by Okla. Gas Geysers
By Associated Press
December 11, 2005, 7:47 PM EST
KINGFISHER, Okla. -- An outbreak of geysers spewing mud and gas into the air in rural Kingfisher County is puzzling state and local officials.
Kingfisher Fire Chief John Crawford says initial reports of the geysers came in Friday morning, and that firefighters and Oklahoma Corporation Commission officials were on the scene yesterday.
The geysers have appeared throughout the countryside of rural Kingfisher, with stretches of up to 12 miles between spots, and some as short as a quarter of a mile.
Crawford says the threat of the gas igniting is unlikely, but he says there is a concern the gas could begin coming up through water-well lines.
He says sheriff's deputies were dispatched to inform residents of the possibility of gas coming through wells and water systems.

You understand if you look at the big picture....the great lakes temperatures have been rising, there have been increased incidences of 'mystery odors', an enormous bulge in the mid west is swelling upwards, not to mention Mt. St. Helens roaring to life...these are all symptoms of increased tetonic stress from geologic activites on a major scale beneath the entire continent of North America. If you keep up all geologic activites, there is a clear indication that we are about to enter a very active geologic cycle. I expect to see an increase in earthquakes in the Mid-West and Eastern states.

No, they did not say what I'm saying their excuse is- but basically, what I did was go over EVERY kind of excuse they have ever used over the century for informational supression measures, and basically sum it up into a single statement.
Here's what their excuse is: 'It's in the best interests of national security not to keep the public immediately informed of severe crisises, mainly due to preventing a national panic- we'd prefer everybody remain calm and under control until we can ascertain the severity of the situation and determine the appropriate public response before notifying the general public of the said situation.'
Translation into layman's terms: 'We don't wanna tell ya right away, we'd rather wait until everything hits the fan BEFORE admitting we have a problem, but not before we figure out a way to pretty up whatever we wanna say so it looks like we know what we're doing in spite of the fact we don't know what the heck is going on.'
Wonderful, eh? >.<
My mom lives in Oklahoma, thanks for bringing this to our attention, I'm definitely giving my mom heads up.

Where's that volcano map link of Jeep's? I have to see things to really get a grip on them. (Wow, talk about walking by sight and not by faith--I have a long way to go!) I'm just a very visual person--I learn by seeing. I'm getting a pretty scary picture in my mind already, but I'd still like to see where the faults are and stuff. (How scientific!)

I have a grand daughter that lives in OK so I put in my favitories all the newspaper in OK.
Here is one I found in Kingfisher Ok. Not sure about the paper but there is a place where you can put a message on.
http://www.kingfishernews.com/summary/news/Have fun!
Living in Arkansas I had already heard the story but could not find anything in the papers about it. I wonder what large town it is close to so I could look it up in their paper. If any one knows let me know.

Here is another map that I check out every couple days. Along with the ones that Kimi already gave you
http://standeyo.com/Reports/041222.EQ.warn...ml#Anchor-49575Cornilius - are you anywhere near this area?
Africa: Seismic stress showing again on the east side of the southern tip near Madagascar. This signal usually indicates seismic events about to occur much farther inland along the way to Lake Tanganyika.
Summary: The main concern today is the threat of a large quake in SE Africa near the coast or between the coast and Madagascar. If it happens there it could generate a tsunami of considerable strength along the Bombay coastline in India. Under the right conditions I believe it could focus its energy into the Gulf of Khambha toward Indore causing huge damage. HOWEVER,.... it is not cast in stone. Watch the animals in India and Pakistan near the coastline should there be a large quake where I have seen the signal. More as the situation develops.... IF it does.
Just to let you all know, I am very much more to the south. My country forms the tip of Africa. I am worried about a friend on holiday in the area though. When do they think this might happen?

Those are great links guys, thank you.
Does anyone else think it is odd all these gas-oil problems suddenly arising? Not to mention the hurricanes threatening the oil refiineries too.
