I was very suprised to read this today. Australia of all places?
Racial Tensions Overflow In Sydney
Racial tensions have erupted into violence at a popular Sydney beach. Some 5,000 people gathered at Cronulla Beach to rally against youth gangs of Middle East background. It comes after two young surf lifesavers were attacked last Sunday by a group from Sydney's western suburbs.
Some of the crowd could be heard chanting "No more Lebs (Lebanese)".
Others carried Australian flags and dressed in Australian sports shirts, yelled: "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie ... Oi, Oi, Oi".
Fighting broke out around lunchtime as the crowd began targeting people of Middle East appearance.
At one stage an ambulance taking people to hospital was pelted by full bottles of beer. More than 30 people were injured in the clashes.
Police arrested 28 people for offensive behaviour and assault and blocked roads into the beach.
"The behaviour that has been seen down here at Cronulla today is nothing short of disgusting and disgraceful," said assistant police commissioner Mark Goodwin.
"It is certainly not the Australian way."
Cronulla Beach was the scene of two violent incidents last week - an attack on two lifeguards on Sunday and a brawl later in the week in which youths turned on a media crew.

Why Australia of all places ?
They have been severely affected by their choice to support Britain and America in Iraq .
The BBC described it as the 'dark underbelly of racism' .
So Australia is a racist animal in essence , who just needs to be turned over to see the truth . ...
Other reports suggested that these people were extremists ..........far right wing groups ........
I think , maybe, we live in very dangerous times , and the old language is redundant . Maybe if someone had tried to blow up a nuclear facility in Shropshire , I would be feeling angry !
I had to laugh yesterday , the BBC newscaster was choking as he read the News , ( probably a short while after announcing in dulcet tones that the smoke from Buncefield was not toxic ) .
I do not support these Aussie brawlers by the way , who seem thuggish and indiscriminate , but I can appreciate why people would be getting hot under the collar .........

I know what you mean. I was just suprised by Australia because they are a pretty laid back nation. The only racial problems Ive heard of is the aboriginal issues and their land.
I believe we are living in dangerous times too, so much is going on everywhere, its like the demons have been let out of hell to reek havoc on earth.

The problems in Sydney have more to do with Lebanese youth who are involved in organized crime and who have no respect for authority and corrupt police who are in bed with organized crime and turn a blind eye to the violent excesses of Lebanese street gangs.
This problem has been building up in the area for some years now. These Lebanese gangs are moving into the beaches area to take it over and the local population is reacting to the violence of this attempted take over. The authorities have not kept law and order. Now the entire economy of Sydney will pay dearly for the corruption. Tourism is a mayor contributor to Sydney’s prosperity.

Actually I think the trouble came to a head since the gang rape of two Australian girls by a 'group' of Lebs' who are now in Jail. They said that the rape was warranted by the way western women dress. That they are asking for attention from young men because they dress scantilly.
Obviously these were Moslems and on TV one of them got quite indignant and threatening to the female interviewer as if he considered that it was now her turn.
Young Australian men were very annoyed about all of this and a rift between the Lebs and others has been building.
Lowest common denominator in all of this seems to be young moslem men being driven by their 'muftis' to condemn western culture.
