As most of you have probably realized i haven't been on this forum for quite a while. I've been sick for the past 2 months and have been flat out with uni and other things. Anyways, its near the end of the semester and i have around 12 assignments due, with the majority of them over 1,000 words and a large percentage of my marks. Im supposed to be graduating this year but im down by 7 subjects and 1 elective so im doing spring school 19th-28th Nov - a course called understanding Asia through food. yep thats right...we get to eat in class!!!! the only catch is we have to do: Journal 30% 2000 words, Poster presentation 30% 1000 words, Final examination - take home 40%
i plan on going to Indonesia next year to do a professional placement with uni and i should, if all goes to plan, graduate at the beginning of 2010 and then continue on with a new degree in teaching
thats the plan lol whether it goes to plan or not i dont know. but i am soo snowed under with so much stuff to do.

Also, just a note to everyone that i am keeping you all in my prayers, even if i dont post or im not on the forum much.
and thanks to everyone who has kept me in their prayers, much appreciated.

Based on the premise that 'food' is more than simply fuel for human sustenance, this unit examines a number of staple foods of Asia and reveals the connections between food, eating and cooking practices on the one hand and demographic trends, gender roles, religious beliefs, ritual, social tensions and colonial conquest on the other. The representation of food in the visual and performing arts and in literature in Asia will also be examined. The foods to be studied are rice, noodles, soybeans, cassava, bananas, coconut, corn, chilli, cloves, nutmeg, coriander and tea.

if i can give you one some sound advice dont snob the culture or the food that is going to be pressented to you or do not listen to what is said in this forum concerning what to eat and what not to eat

the reason i am putting this hear pinky our old worship leader is know living in Indonesia full time he moved his family and is reaching out to the indonesians my friend is a true blue Aussie with a good heart


our church is supporting him he is ussing his skills due to him also being a teacher he is teaching English and is pressenting the gospel in their language through their local air ways

dont belive in everything you have heard concerning Indonesia when it comes to what is said in the posts in this forum

the people are welcoming but study their laws pinky so you dont end up offending or in trouble our worship leader did this while he was weighting for his residentual visa to be approved he is living in Indonesia full time not part time he is a resident but has a dual citazen ship he did not get rid of his Australian citazen ship

the food is good and it takes time to get use to their food dont go for junk food like mac donalds you wil see they have this in indonesia i nearly did this when i landed in manila i saw mac donalds and kentucky fried chicken


you wil get a chance to get to know the students and the locals everyone has a mobil

to gain acssess in to a community you first leave your mobil ph number and you weight you leave your number to a friend they talk to their leader and then you get an invite our worship leader was hear for two weeks he told me how it works in Indonesia i spun out but they are very prottective when it comes to their neighbour hoods

our worship leaders son is only 18 pinky he has been preaching to the indonesians and has also given out bibles and he had a chance to share to some muslim students and their immam

but you wil need to learn about Indonesia as much as you can i have some friends who i keep in touch with and i keep in regular contac with our worship leader eat what is put in front of you it wil not harm you or wil it offend god or kill you trust me you will see what i mean when you land in Indonesia


let god help you through your assignments one of my friends did this she was failing and had to pull her head in we prayed over her and god did the rest she got her major in mental health

you wil be told what areas are safe as long as you show respect and obey the laws of the country you find your self a guest

thanks mum. been trying to work on my assignments....havent even completed the intro. i found some stuff out today but will tell you later in an email. your not going to be happy. i will write tomorrow cause im so tired. but thank you for your prayers. im a bit better now, have been talking to a friend online who lives on the mainland and we have been mucking around lol. also a friend dropped round with some goodies to cheer me up *grins*

please keep me in your prayers as i have 2 exams this week - one tomorrow (thursday) and one on friday. they are seen exams so the expectations are much higher then any other unseen exam. i have to strap my wrist for a couple of days after each exam as it puts so much stress on it from writting and it swells up so exams begin to get difficult when my wrist is sore...which is why my exams go for 3 hours instead of 2.

also, yesterday i was munching on an almond and i dislocated my jaw and couldnt do anything with my mouth, it was really painful. i eventually got my jaw back into place but its been dislocating and popping out of joint all the time since the first time it dislocated yesterday.

so please keep me in your prayers. your prayers are much appreciated
