Miles Mcpherson is speaking today. Ex-NFL player & coke addict who turned his life to God.

Miles Mcpherson:

"Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1960, McPherson was raised on Long Island in a strong family led by his father, Rudolph McPherson, an immigrant from Jamaica. Miles attended the University of New Haven, where he majored in engineering. He was the university's first player to achieve All-American honors in football and be drafted into the NFL. He went on to play as a defensive back for the San Diego Chargers.

But off the field his life began to spiral out of control. Two years into his pro career, McPherson was battling a drug problem and living an immoral lifestyle. That's when teammate Sherman Smith, now an NFL coach, asked McPherson a simple question. "If you were to die right now, would you go to heaven?"

It took over six months for McPherson to answer. In April 1984, having been up all night doing cocaine and realizing that his life was empty, McPherson gave his life to Jesus Christ.

The change was dramatic and instant. Soon McPherson began attending Horizon Christian Fellowship in San Diego and reaching out to teenagers. He also began motivational speaking with the Chargers' organization. In September 1986, within a week after retiring from football, McPherson went to work as a Youth Pastor for Horizon, and enrolled in Azusa Pacific University's School of Theology. He received his Master of Divinity degree in 1991. In 1992, he founded Miles Ahead, a non-profit organization that reaches out to America's youth with the Gospel. Miles Ahead Ministries has expanded to include evangelistic events in other cities, states, and international locations. Since 1996 over 290,000 people have attended 19 evangelistic events, and over 42,000 people have responded to his message."

From his website: http://www.milesmcpherson.com/#home

Looks like the gospel and a powerful testimony will reach hundreds of millions tonight. smile.gif

On another note, I'm a politician, so, I guess you wouldn't like me. sad.gif wink.gif wink.gif smile.gif I believe the truth is necessary to win arguments. All forms of it. smile.gif

As long as there is truth!! I get so tired of backing someone and then when they get in office they turn. Mostly I am speaking of reservation politics! I used to campaigne for some of them and then gave up and walked away. Although our chairman now I have alot of faith in. Our government has gotten so corrupt. When my husbands murderer was on trial I just could not believe that his lawyer in closing arguments just got up and started lying. It really showed me that our justice system is anything but good. Its just a big game.

PS I guess not all politicians lie!! blush.gif

Yeah, I've worked with lawyers, and, it's true, they lie, or.. manipulate what happened. 0_o
Of course, I've seen both sides lie, the prosecution, and the defense. It's like a vicious circle and tough to get out of. :\

Sarah Palin is speaking tonight. 10:30 Eastern, 7:30 Pacific. On FOX and CNN.

biggrin.gif

I so hope that Obama and his wife and all the Democrats are watching this Republican Convention tonight.

Rudy is awesome! And Palin hasn't even started yet.

USA! USA! USA!

"Some advise for Obama.....next time....call John McCain". smile.gif
happy2Bfree
Oh my Goooshhh....

All those Democrats are going to eat CROW tonight for dinner!

This is so great!

She's doing good so far. biggrin.gif

I like the email story about the plane.
happy2Bfree
She sold the Government plane on e-bay!

And got rid of the Executive Chef. Didn't think the people of Alaska needed to be stuck paying for those things.

YEP! WE NEED THIS WOMAN FOR OUR VP!

And if the Lord is willing...we need her for a future PRESIDENT!

I have almost started crying. She is so awesome and it feels soooo good to feel like we have someone who
actually cares about us, the people, for a change.
kim48
That's what I'm thinking also. I like when she said Obama was busy parting the waters and healing the planet. (Like he is pretending to be God)
happy2Bfree
I smell CROW cooking. laugh.gif
kim48
I am enjoying the convention alot more this year than other years.
What John McCain went through as a POW is unreal. He has come a long way.
kim48
WOW!!!!!!!

I am in tears Kim.

Seeing her with her family....and I just loved it when she told us about her husband and said after all this time...he is still her guy. smile.gif

I loved that.

I love her personality. Her sincerity comes through very loud and clear.

And she made point after point after point about how unqualified Obama really is compared to McCain (even herself).

I hope all the Democrats are enjoying their CROW dinners. It's probably a little tough to eat....but they ordered it!

LOL!

kim48
Now lets see what the media going to do. Katie Couric(sp) will have to come up with something now. I listen to her last night when she said something about not being able to handle being a mother and a VP. No one has ever ask Hillary Clinton and Obama the question.
yes, I could see people crying in the stands.
I think their will be a shake up in Washington if they get elected.

GRAND SLAM!!!

WOW! Palin and Giuliani set the Obama-Biden snake oil on fire!

Palin is dynamite, brilliant, articulate, REAL, genuine, principle, Godly, responsible, a hard worker, knowledgeable, and a TRUE patriotic American; there aren't enough adjectives to describe her, this incredible role model for anyone regardless of gender.

The Obama Bunch have some fast-talkin' and explainin' to do, because Palin really and dramatically distinguished between the demonstrative SUBSTANCE of McCain/Palin and the complete EMPTINESS of Obama/Biden.

I loved her joke! "Do you know what the only difference between a Hockey Mom and a Pit Bull is? LIPSTICK!" LOL!!! laugh.gif

I wept tears of joy as I heard Sarah Palin tonight. She commented about how the media saw her and portrayed her as someone without experience, but she made it plain that she wasn't going into the Whitehouse to please the media but to serve the people. I also liked how she spoke about Special needs children...and about the contrast she made between a hocky mom and a pit bull...and how she gave credit to our service people and to our POW's...and how she said, "McCain is not out looking for a fight but nor is he afraid of a fight." She impressed me with her whole speach. Her poise....passion...intelligence..love for country. Yes Kim and Cindy, the democrat's are eating crow, I just wish I were serving them that main dish. My own doubts and fears are laid to rest and I firmly support McCain and Palin. And one more thing? She said that they will limit government and not grow government.. that is what we in this country need. Oh and one more thing? She mentioned Scranton in her speech...Scranton isn't a far throw from where I live. God Bless America. Go USA.

Gods Blessings,

Sarah Palin didn't come off as a politician but she did come across as a magnificent speaker who will be able to calmly speak to the people in case of emergency. I think that if we elect McCain/Palin we will be electing a compassionate heart in Washington. It's odd how joyful I feel after hearing her speech. Funny because I need to turn off the TV when Obama is speaking (Makes me physically ill) and I never heard a whole speech given by Bill Clinton because he also made me physically sick.

Go McCain/Palin. A winning team who can win this election. You go!@

USA rocks!

I had a good feeling when she was up there giving her speech.

Havent got to turn the station yet to see what the other stations are saying but it will be fun to watch them squirm in their sets.
I got sick to my stomach today with all the blogs going and Katie Coutic ask about the 17 year old getting a DNA done to prove the five month old baby wasnt hers. This is sickening to hear some of the cazy things they are trying to come up with.

These liberals are coming off as so two-faced now.

When it is someone they want in office...you will never hear them raise these issues.

Now they try to throw all they can at her....but she just keeps coming at them.

I really loved how she said that when it comes to Obama....he had the time to write TWO memoirs....but not enough time to pass one bit of legislation.

THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES!

I'm with you girls. I find so much joy inside when I listen to her speak. But with the Democratic politicians....I also have felt sick to my stomach.

We need to keep her in our prayers. Both of them. For their protection and that God will give them wisdom to rule our country.

Lord, please please bless us with McCain and Palin to be our President and Vice President. In Yeshuas name I pray. Amen.

As wonderful a speech she gave tonight and as lovely as she is, she is going to need a lot of prayer! She is a modern day Deborah or Esther. But the press will not relent. She will be examined up and down, inside and out, and claims and accusations will be leveled against her throughout the rest of the campaign and after McCain - Palin win. It is all because she is a CHRISTIAN who has taken on the Pro-Life mantel. Satan can not stand that, and as you have seen throughout this week, Satan's children - the media types of the world, the feminists, the false witnesses - have come out, arrayed in force against her.

Look at these things coming out in the press tonight:

LEGAL ACTION THREAT AGAINST NATIONAL ENQURIER OVER 'PALIN AFFAIR' STORY...
(NatEx claims she had an affair, that Bristol's pregnancy created a furor within the family, and other things...)

Palin: Iraq war 'a task that is from God'...
(making fun of her faith and a comment said to a ministry group)

NOONAN: Open Mic Night at MSNBC...
(Peggy Noonan screwed up, and it sounded like she said "It's over" for McCain)

The Palin Pile-On
(A list of pile-ons from the press)

Top Five Sexist Attacks on Palin
(A list of the claims of why she is unable to be Vice President)

But here is a wonderful article about her that is right in line with Leslie's comment last night:

God Working Through the Unlikely

This gal has GOD's handiwork all over her. The press HATES her - Obama Hates her - feminists HATE her - the world HATES her. She is one of us, a believer in CHRIST, given the opportunity by the LORD GOD HIMSELF to bring HIS message to millions of Americans (and those watching from around the world). Maybe one person who is faithful, who is determined to live by her faith while serving in government will be enough with GOD's help to change the mood in the nation. It will have to be HOLY SPIRIT inspired, and it will cause divisions that can not be bridged.

But that is okay. I am reminded of Psalm 75:

Ps 75:4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:
Ps 75:5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.
Ps 75:6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
Ps 75:7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

I predict McCain - Palin wins, and she ends up becoming President some day. Simply because Obama is all about Obama, and not the ONE who made him.

I know this....

That if we humble ourselves and pray and fast.....

God can put them both in Washington this fall. I think about how Esther told the Jews to pray and fast.

I think we all should do the same.

Now is not the time to let down our guard. God can turn all the bad around for us.

I have seen Him do this in my own life. But there is real power in fasting.

One time I needed some major answers to prayer. There were three things I needed to happen. They all concerned my ex husband (when we were married).

I fasted for three days and prayed throughout the day and quoted scripture to the Lord and reminded Him of what His Word said to me.

At the end of my fast.....all three things happened in the order I prayed them in and they happened very quickly.

God is so awesome!

The American president is God? I am confused...

Chloe is referring to Divine Providence interacting with the destiny of global nations and their people as taught in the Bible, particularly if a people of a nation corporately agrees in mutual prayer to submit themselves and declare their nation and national purpose Holy onto the Almighty and His Will, then God will supernaturally cover that nation with His Divine Protection and supernaturally guide the setting up of Righteous Leaders with principled and honorable character aligned with biblical statutes. Ultimately, the results from this mutual spiritual alignment are national prosperity, wisdom in leadership, a fruitful land and peace on all fronts. However, the nations of the secular world do not understand this biblical and universal principle, and thus do not reap its benefits; and their safety and national security become jeopardized because God lifts His Presence away from them leaving such nations vulnerable to attack, disease, pestilence, plagues, natural disasters and the full onslaught of the Demonic Realm.

Hi, Esteviento...

Not personally, but the earlier U.S. Presidents (up to the last Roosevelt, generally speaking) were extremely devoted to religious matters and prayer on a daily basis. They didn't wait for a day to arrive when some horrible national disaster struck America to finally get on their knees to pray, like American leaders do today, while on all the other 364 days of the year they hypocritically cry out "separation of church and state". Don't you think it's odd that when disasters strike SUDDENLY the leaders evoke the name of God and pray? By then it's too little, too late. Instead, the earlier Presidents' daily prayers and devotion to God acted as "preventive medicine" BEFORE a national calamity ever dared to raise its ugly head and strike.

Have you ever read from the Prayer Journal of the Father of our Nation, George Washington? What an admirable, principled and eloquent man of God having such a great passion for his Faith in Jesus Christ; we should all try to live up to such a heroic standard:

SEE: http://americancreation.blogspot.com/2008/...l-fact-not.html

SEE: http://personal.pitnet.net/primarysources/george.html

The religious affiliations of the U.S. Presidents:

SEE: http://www.adherents.com/adh_presidents.html

And though called an English Deist by historians (something he never claimed himself), Thomas Jefferson was raised as an Episcopalian (Anglican) and was Protestant but held many beliefs in common with Unitarians that he aligned himself with, though he was not an active practioner because Virginia had no Unitarian churches (The Unitarianism of his day was very unlike its modern visage; originally it was an offshoot of Protestantism.) In his day the general public consensus perceived Jefferson as a Christian (or even Protestant) president. He was a progressive vanguard for religious freedoms, including even allowing the freedom not to participate in religion, if an individual chose. As the 3rd President of the U.S. he signed legislation to fund with taxpayer monies the construction of churches across the frontier lands to aid in spreading the Gospel for the purposes of securing societal civility in those wild west regions.

Thomas Jefferson wrote that the teachings of Jesus contain the "outlines of a system of the most sublime morality which has ever fallen from the lips of man."

Hi Esteviento....

Como estas?

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, Seven is correct in what he told you. I was not refering to the American President being god....the total opposit.

I look to the One True G-d for my help. He is the only One that can help me...help us.

I was refering to the power in fasting. When we humble ourselves and pray in unison....there is great power. But there is an added power when we combine it with fasting.

We are telling God just how much we WANT something.

I believe that Christians are the "watchkeepers" on the "spiritual" walls of this nation.

We need to repent for the masses when so many do not know God and pray for His Mercy to be upon us regardless of their actions.

I feel like so many of us are asleep and just letting things fall to the side always just accepting whatever happens to us.

We cannot let our guard down. There is a lot at stake for our nation.

We need Godly leaders NOW more than ever.

Here comes the opposition, getting back at the Republicans for revelations about Obama's preacher and church and aimed squarely at Palin:

AP Next Going After Palin's 'Derided' Religion
By Warner Todd Huston | September 4, 2008 - 06:12

The Associated Press takes the attacks against Sarah Palin to the next level by saying that in her released bio Palin's religion was "obscured." The AP is suggesting that Palin's ostensibly secret religion is really Pentecostalism which, they note, is a sect that is "derided by outsiders and Bible-believers alike." So, the AP is saying here that the McCain campaign is trying to cover up Palin's past because they must somehow know that her real religion is a cult or some wacko, fringe sect.

From AP story:
QUOTE
Sarah Palin often identifies herself simply as Christian... Yet John McCain's running mate has deep roots in Pentecostalism, a spirit-filled Christian tradition that is one of the fastest growing in the world. It's often derided by outsiders and Bible-believers alike.

But for all of the AP's grave warnings about what it obviously considers wacky Pentecostalism, Palin and her hard working, middle class family have for the last 6 years belonged to the Wasilla Bible Church which is not a Pentecostal Church but describes itself as an independent evangelical church. So, even if she were raised in the Pentecostal Church -- and even if we were to be alarmed at this -- she left it behind 6 years ago. So, where is the "obscuring," where is the secretive past?

=====================================================================

My take on all of this:

This will grow into a huge story in some way, I am sure of that. In fact, any pastor of any church that Palin has attended will most likely have their sermons scrutinized to see if there were or are any views presented or sermons given that even hint at a "Jeremiah Wright" issue.

Todd Palin's voting record is being sought out, although Michelle Obama's and Jill Biden's records have not. Even today, the criticism has lowered itself to criticize Palin's hair style (http://news.bostonherald.com/news/2008/view.bg?articleid=1116858&srvc=2008campaign&position=8 ). The press is desperate to defend their man, Barrack Hussein Obama, and get back at his opposition by crawling through Palin's life to see if she has any dirt. Then they will magnify it. That is what happens in politics. It is ----for-tat.

There is an amazing thing going on here in this election as well, one I have never seen before. Obama has been forced to address Christian faith as a top and center issue in his campaign. He feels that the laws and societal norms that govern the US and its local communities must be changed to embrace everyone. He has sarted that process by degrading the certainty that followers of CHRIST have in their LORD as the only source of salvation, and has derided everyone who believes that when he said in a March 27, 2004 interview:

QUOTE
I'm a big believer in tolerance. I think that religion at it's best comes with a big dose of doubt. I'm suspicious of too much certainty in the pursuit of understanding just because I think people are limited in their understanding.

So according to Obama, we should doubt our faith in CHRIST and the certainty that comes with it because we are too limited in our understanding to stick with that only. He is suspicious of too much certainty in the pursuit of understanding, so it is best to just doubt anything that seems certain. He thinks that type of certainty leaves out those who do not believe the same thing and therefore causes divisions. He wants everyone to put aside their individual religious beliefs and define their ideas in "universally accepted" language so that no one is offended or discriminated against. That opens the door for others, like Muslims for example, who want to bring sharia law into thier communities but have not been able to because the overriding judeo-christian ethics have been in play for so long. Sounds like a lie right out of the mouth of Satan himself.

This is going to be a difficult election to watch. If Obama does not win, I can easily imagine the hoots and hollers and cries of "injustice!" and the labeling of America as the most racist country on the face of the earth. The cries might be deafening. If it were not enough when Al Gore screamed about how the election was stolen from him, this will be another repeat. Only much, much louder.

gr82bsaved
kim48
I agree Todd. We will think the election with Gore was mild compared to this.
The picture you posted reminded me of Palin saying last night that she wasnt trying to part the waters and pretending she to be Christ.

No problem, questions are welcome here.

The Presidents today really don't pray as in the days of old; I guess I wasn’t clear on that. The breakdown occurred at the last Roosevelt Presidency. Instead, today when prayer in Washington D.C. comes up the establishment comes against it to combat it under the guise of the misnomer "separation of church and state", or, on the flip side, it is allowed "after" a major crisis or disaster has hit the nation... but it's too little, too late. This reveals a definite hypocrisy on the part of our government and its leaders when it comes to prayer, where it has been reduced to a convenient political tool only when necessary to appease public psyche during crisis driven situations, i.e. hurricanes, terrorist attacks, wars, etc., and thus is no longer a genuine act, while “officially” being against it. As a result they begin doing unprincipled things, like you said, and bad things happen to the nation because the phenomenon is what the Bible calls “prayer amiss” for it is not with a contrite heart and God has closed His ears to it and the nation.

We are telling God just how much we WANT something.

Now I am really confused per favor. Is God Santa? Does He really have a shopping mall and you pay with prayer?
I always believed that we ask nothing for ourselves and let God read the contents of our heart...

But maybe I am just not used to receiving?

Esteviento, true.. you have not because you ask not... that is Scriptural, but I also believe that if you ask for some selfish thing like children do at Christmastime, that you will not receive. But then if you don't ask, sometimes God just blesses you because he wants to, and yes, by knowing what the desires of our hearts are. I pray you will be used to receiving soon. I have received some answer to prayer but in a lot of the churches I have been in, they told me that sometimes God says yes, sometimes no, and sometimes he says maybe. Now, isn't that kind of like the weatherman? It's going to be mostly sunny, with some clouds, with possible showers. That pretty much covers it all. It really is confusing. I never understood prayer, only that we are supposed to do it because we are commanded to pray, for our needs and others, not selfishly, but with diligence and coming to him with a humble attitude, believing that what we pray for will be done. I know God is no Santa Claus, or things I have earnestly prayed for, including the health of friends and loved ones, would have come true. So I'm not sure what telling God what we want is going to help us in our prayers. I think He already knows.

Have I confused you? I pray not. Blessings in your search for truth.

WWJDToday, no not confusing at all! It makes sense.

I see it as this. When I have a doll that two girls both want in their heart, and one keeps jumping and asking, and another sits silent praying that the doll will be put to good use. I would give the doll to the silent girl, and then after a while start helping them to learn to share.

One could call it a win-win situation with the right priorities.
