Evangelicals excited about Palin
McCain's running mate was raised in a Pentecostal church.

VOTE 2008

By ERIC GORSKI
Associated Press Writer

Sarah Palin already has energized conservative religious leaders who had fretted that John McCain would pick an abortion rights supporter as his running mate. The Alaska governor was raised in a Pentecostal church and has called herself "as pro-life as any candidate can be."

To Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religion Liberties Commission, Palin is "straight out of veep central casting." Land said he had urged the McCain camp to consider the political unknown.

Gary Bauer, one of McCain's most enthusiastic evangelical supporters, said the Arizona senator had hit a "grand slam home run" and that adding Palin to the GOP ticket is "guaranteed to energize values voters."
The 44-year-old mother of five, who led her high school chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was baptized as a teenager at the Wasilla Assembly of God Church, where she and her family were very active, according to her then-pastor, Paul Riley.

She now sometimes worships at the Juneau Christian Center, which is also part of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God, said Brad Kesler, business administrator of the denomination's Alaska District. But her home church is The Church on the Rock, an independent congregation, Riley said.

"The church was kind of a foundation for her," said Riley, who said he gave the invocation at Palin's inauguration and had her address students at the church last month.

Maria Comella, a spokeswoman for the McCain-Palin campaign, said Palin attends different churches and does not consider herself Pentecostal.

As a politician, Palin has sided with the majority evangelical view in opposing gay marriage and expressing a desire to see creationism discussed alongside evolution in schools.

During a 2006 debate, she said she was a proponent of teaching both evolution and creationism in schools. She later clarified her stance in an interview with the Anchorage Daily News, saying that she doesn't think creationism needed to be part of the curriculum and that she would not push the state Board of Education to add such alternatives to the state's required curriculum.

Not only does Palin oppose abortion as a matter of policy, but she chose to give birth to her youngest child, a son, after a prenatal exam indicated Down syndrome. Studies show that about nine in 10 pregnant women who are given a Down syndrome diagnosis have chosen to have an abortion.

"That will resonate in a big way," said Quin Monson, a Brigham Young University professor who studies religion and politics.

Focus on the Family founder James Dobson, who initially said he could not vote for McCain but has since opened the door to an endorsement, called Palin "an outstanding choice that should be extremely reassuring to the conservative base" of the GOP. Dobson added that the ticket "gives us confidence he will keep his pledges to voters regarding the kinds of justices he would nominate to the Supreme Court."

"It's an absolutely brilliant choice," said Mathew Staver, dean of Liberty University School of Law. "This will absolutely energize McCain's campaign and energize conservatives."

Staver called Palin a "a woman of faith who has a strong position on life, a consistent opinion on judges. ... She's the complete package."

While driving to my next job assignment Friday afternoon and listening to talk radio, they broke in the show to bring McCain's announcement of this VP pick live from Dayton, Oh.

I pulled into a parking lot to listen attentively. I had researched the possibility of this woman being on McCains short list for picks and I was quite impressed.

While very few people outside Alaska have ever heard of her before, we live in the information age and it's out there if you look for it.

There's plenty to be found to read and even some videos on youtube. While there may not be as much as some of the other politicians, there's enough for anyone looking to see what they need to see to know what this women is all about. AND SHE IS A WINNER. But unfortunately felt she was a longshot at best for McCains pick.

Anyway, listening to the radio, and McCain giving her introduction I absolutely cried for joy.

As we all know, there is no perfect candidate, and we know she's not running for President. Or is she?

Our choice this election season for President is between Obama and McCain, like any other election thats come before, those are the choices, a republican and a democrat. Any vote for a third party is a thrown away vote. Sad but true.

Like I mentioned on another thread, the real problems that plague this country, particulary moral social ones. The ones that should matter most to us as Christians, are the direct result of our elected for life justices that have no accountability. They can't be voted out if we don't like them and thier decisions. Unfortunately we have to hem and haw waiting for them to either retire or die.

Just look at the makeup of the supreme court. Look at how who decided on what. Thier job is to strictly adhere to and apply the constitution and NOT to reshape.

A liberal dominated supreme court has:

Legitimized abortion
Taken away property rights
Accepted homosexuality
ETC ETC.....

All the result of installments made to the court by liberal democrat presidents. And sad to say George senior who made one very unfortunate choice.

GW Bush has put two very fine men on the bench and I applaud him for that as that is a huge part of his legacy. Unfortunately we also had a good justice retire at the same time so we really only gained one good new justice.

During this next election cycle there is going to be a for sure two new justices needed as two are getting to the age where they will have to retire. All we need is one to tip the scales of justice in our favor, two would be nice.

WE HAVE TO HAVE A REPUBLICAN WHO HAS COMMITED TO THIS BEING FULLFILLED. And although he has his imperfections, John McCain has promised us this.

John McCains selection of Sarah Palin has PROVED to me he can choose wisely and have no doubt that should he be elected, THINGS WILL CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.

"Change" the WORD Barrack Obama has built his entire campaign on.

EVERY presidential candidate has promised change in Washignton since I can remember so why should I now believe Obama?

Another word for change is reform. Both John McCain AND Sarah Palin actually have a record behind them of reform.

Are you going to believe words that have been cheaply used for every election before, or will you believe actions that leave a paper trail of proof?

John McCain can have more than just the legacy of installing some good supreme court nominees, by having Sarah Palin as his VP she is automatically the republican nominee for president when McCain's time is up.

That being said, we have not heard the last of Hillary Clinton. I sure would like to see Hillary have to take on another woman for the job.

NOW, show me you that have an argument for doing anything other than voting for McCain.

Where Palin Made Her Name
Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008 By NATHAN THORNBURGH / WASILLA, ALASKA - Time magazine

"It's Friday night, and there have got to be 500 people packed into the Sluice Box, a beer-soaked clapboard honky-tonk at the Alaska State Fair — the state's biggest event all year — just down the highway from Governor Sarah Palin's hometown of Wasilla. The legendary Hobo Jim, Alaska's official state balladeer, the guy who has opened sessions of the legislature with a song, is onstage, working blue.

"Here's to the girl from the great Northwest," he sings, "with --- as hard as a hornet's nest." The crowd whistles its approval.

For the record, he's not singing about Palin, though the curvature and comeliness of McCain's surprise vice-presidential nominee pick are brought up by just about everyone here, man and woman, in a way that would make lower-48 liberals and feminists cringe. Palin-friendly talk show hosts gush how she'll wow 'em with her toughness — and her legs. State fair t-shirt vendor Kevin Beagley says he remembers one particular customer last year who bought a few t-shirts that said "Alaska: The Coldest State with the Hottest Governor". The buyer? Palin's own father, Chuck Heath.

Hobo Jim, with his old cowboy hat and very new John McCain sticker on his guitar, has the crowd dancing and drinking now.

He plays a Patsy Cline cover. They cheer. He gives shout-outs to the military, then to the great Alaska Railroad. They cheer. He plays the Star-Spangled Banner. They cheer.

Then he takes a set break so everyone can step outside to smoke and watch the fireworks pop off above the adjacent field. When the finale comes, a burst of greens sizzlers, they cheer.

Back inside: "How many of you've seen the Discovery Channel Deadliest Catch? Ice Road Truckers?" Cheer. "We're getting famous up here!" Huge cheer.

"And now our governor's going to be Vice President!" Roar.

That's how it was throughout the State Fair on Friday. The news of Palin's selection is an intoxicating mix for the people here: pride in a hometown hero, good news (finally!) for a scandal-racked Alaska, and, for this deeply red part of the state, relief that the Republican Presidential ticket just got a lot more conservative than it was.

No wonder T-shirts saying Go Sarah! started sprouting up by mid-afternoon. Beagley's own homemade batch of 150 McCain/Palin t-shirts arrived at 2 p.m. and were sold out within the hour, leaving Palin fans sifting in vain through piles of shirts that say Grim Reefer and Chicks Dig Me. In town, businesses have been putting up exuberant messages of support, as if Sarah! was once again on the high school basketball team, headed off to state finals.

Across the row from the State Fair livestock pavilion — with its champion pigs, giant cabbage and 900-lb. pumpkins — Eddie Grasser mans an NRA booth. Palin is a lifetime NRA member — a demographic that has not been particularly high on John McCain — and Grasser couldn't be more excited about the governor he calls Sarah. Like Grasser, everyone here seems to be on a first name basis with their politicians. "It's just one of those things about Alaska politics," says Grasser. So Governor Palin is Sarah, the irascible (and currently indicted) Senator Stevens is Uncle Ted, and even Representative Young, that venal pork-barreler whom few should admit to being friendly with, is Don.

The Palins certainly seem to fit into Wasilla, which has just over 7,000 inhabitants. This town has grown east and west along the railroad, becoming the fastest-growing community in the state. Many credit Palin with helping that expansion, though critics say it is a textbook case of unchecked suburban sprawl. As mayor, she pushed property taxes down to miniscule amounts, and the low 2.5% sales tax has enticed big box retailers like WalMart and Target to come in.

The Palin family lives on Lake Lucille on the western end of town — she's always maintained her residence here, even though the Capitol is a long flight away in Juneau. It's a perfectly Alaskan lake: still waters ringed by evergreens and saw-toothed peaks, staged beneath a wolf-colored sky. You can just make out Palin's house a stone's throw from the public launch at the Best Western Hotel, by the red and white floatplane on the small dock out front (the governor's husband is a pilot in addition to being an oil worker, commercial fisherman, prior Iron Dog snowmobile endurance race winner, and self-anointed "First Dude").

Normal small-town life for the First Dude and his wife is over. Even as Governor, Palin was still spotted at the market, driving her SUV around town, or worshiping at the nondenominational Wasilla Bible Church. On Friday afternoon, I was able to just pick up the phone and call Palin's parents, who live in town. They had just heard the news Friday morning themselves; they had been out caribou hunting and gold mining — how Alaska is that? — so there wasn't any advance warning for them. Her mother Sally told me this before remembering that she's not allowed to talk to reporters now, that they've been told that they have to learn about the new protocol. She seems genuinely sorry about this. "We're very, very proud of her," she told me before hanging up.

And when Marty and Cheryl Metiva, a power couple in town (he's on city council, running for mayor, and she leads the Chamber of Commerce), take me up the Palin's driveway to look at the house, we are met by police officers in two Wasilla patrol cars, who then spend a while copying down our drivers license information. "We're on watch now, you bet," one of the officers said with a smile.

The governor's house is actually somewhat modest: a two-story wood shingled building with a couple hundred meters of road leading up to it. There are a few aging trucks parked on the grass alongside the road, alongside a couple trailers and a shack. There's a portable basketball hoop in the driveway. You can tell it's the governor's home because they've tacked a moose antler with PALIN painted on it to a tree out front.

It's a picture-perfect Alaskan family home. Palin, who hunts, fishes, and says her favorite food is moose, fits into this community snugly, in a way that many carpet-bagging national politicians can only dream of. And her friends here think the rest of America will fall for her just they way they have.

But Alaska is a deeply ... different state. It's more beautiful, more conservative, slightly rougher, though with a protection of privacy that will be hard for her to maintain in the spotlight. Her views, from opposing abortion even in cases of incest or rape to drilling in ANWR, are just more palatable here than in much of the lower 48.

Back at the State Fair, Hobo Jim finishes and starts signing CD's. "Sarah's awesome," he tells me. "We love her here."

The question is, will enough voters in the lower 48 feel the same way?"

Me too, I had read about her before the announcement and I thought, "never in a million years would McCain pick someone as honest and God-fearing as Palin". I'm glad to say I was wrong and have a new respect for McCain, even if he did it for political expediency, she is the right woman for the job.

Dennis,

I was also going to write Ron Paul in on my voting ballot, but something just doesn't feel right in the political air. It is true that Bush and partners have let Americans down....BIG TIME! For instance, anytime that any one of OUR rights are taken away from us because of the so-called fight on terrorism (or whatever other reason they come up with) is the day that democracy is slowly dying. Can any American on this board really say that we are a democratic nation as of this post?

Dennis, to be truthful Obama makes me very nervous. How Obama is presently talking the "change" that he is talking about is a change that will not benefit America. Higher taxes (all though he doesn't use this simple talk), cuts will be made in the defense department, Our soldiers will be coming home and perhaps prematurely. Obama will continue to grow Government and he will grow us into a welfare state.

I do have my share of concerns with McCain but nothing in the magnitude of my concerns with Obama. Now Sarah seems like a fine politician and a nice lady. But since I hardly know her political platforms I am a little weary of her lack of experience and the fact that she is so young and a mother. A mothers first job is with her family but as VP won't she have to split her loyalties?

Lets keep praying for America...

Gods Blessings,

Al
THE SEVEN THUNDERS
It's odd how some Christians forget that the Christian is to execute BOTH civil and spiritual obligations, and DESPITE the ORDER OF THE DAY:

Matthew 22:21 – Then He (Jesus) said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

Those who attempt to create a “Theocracy” on Earth “before” Christ’s Advent, or have the delusion to form a strictly “Christian Political Party,” are operating under "Abraham’s Disobedience" when he attempted to force his inheritance through his second wife, Hagar, with his firstborn, Ishmael. It ultimately leads to great error. And we all know what scourge the forced Arab lineage of Ishmael ultimately produced as a menace to all of Humankind… Islam.

No where do the Holy Scriptures state, “…form a Christian political party.” Besides, it’s Jesus Who does the “forming”… “And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)

So in your apparent disdain for the republican party, which isn't totally undeserving, you're willing to throw away a useful vote to allow the possibility of something much much worse than what you've seen come out of Washignton yet.

You are wrong sir! May I suggest you go back to your prayer closet and earnestly pray about this. I know your upset that your candidate Ron Paul didn't even make a significant showing, but get over it. Be real.

Diverteach,

I don't think Dennis Mann is entirely wrong in his decision, although I do hope he changes his mind. In all due respect may I ask you a question? Isn't a vote for the lesser of two evils still a vote for evil? Can we really afford to play the compromising game with any part of evil? Lets remember that the Republican Party has sold us conservatives out...big time. I got to say, I am not real thrilled with this modern Republican Party.

None of us are perfect Dear. None! Have the republicans sold us down the river? YEP! No doubt about it. Now ask yourself after looking at the alternatives and think about how much farther down the river we would be knowing their record.

Reagan conservatism is NOT dead. WE, are still very much alive and that's why I'm so excited about Gov Sarah Palin.

This woman is the embodiment of what our government is supposed to be, a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Could I be wrong? Absolutely, but my spirit is telling me no on this one.

Yes she's only the VP choice of McCain and he's not perfect. But seriously compare to the alternatives. He's really not that bad and we may have to endure some things we don't like from him. But when he's gone we'll have Palin to automatically run again as President in the next election which will most assuredly be Hillary Clinton.

I totally agree with you, Diverteach... Christians have thrown out the window the scripture "you are IN the world, and NOT of it", thinking it means complete and total “isolationism” from the world around them, but in fact, we are to be the Light of Christ IN the MIDST of the Darkness of the secular world. So by example, Christians, like Palin, understand that they are to be that Light of Christ in the midst of secular politics, a LIVING EXAMPLE implemented through PRINCIPLED ACTIONS, not fleeing from an adverse secular system to hide in trembling so that diabolical forces can steel the freedoms of the citizenry. Too often Christians throw the baby out with the bath water. People need to grasp and see the bigger picture, instead of fussing over the immediate shortsighted squabblings.

Amen. Those of you putting down Palin, should read up and what she has done and what she stands for. She has fought corruption every step of the way and it is this fight that has taken her where she is today. Is there any other candidate that is as openly and sincerely a Christian as Palin? To say that she can't do it because she's a mother, what about Father's, aren't their first responsibility to their children? By that logic, no woman should work outside the home and that's just not reality today.

Aaaahhhhh politics.

Ever wonder why Jesus and the apostles stayed out of politics?

THE SEVEN THUNDERS

Does not God bend the ears of leaders, if He so desires? Does not God’s Providence install the leaders of nations as the Holy Scriptures state for His purposes no matter what the surface reality appears to nearsighted men unable to see God’s total perception and vision? Does not God humble and bring down low pompous and proud leaders, like he did with Nebuchadnezzar?

Yes it is true that McCain has a preference for Evolution as he has stated:

"I think Americans should be exposed to every point of view," he said. "I happen to believe in evolution. ... I respect those who think the world was created in seven days. Should it be taught as a science class? Probably not."

But look who was in the court of Nebuchadnezzar? DANIEL. Look who was in the court of Pharaoh? JOSEPH. And if elected President, look who will be in the court of McCain? SARAH PALIN.

Need I say more?

Those with understanding will see the silver lining that God is providing; those who cannot understand, their discernment is highly questionable, and perhaps all that they say should be discounted with a grain of salt.

I don't know if anyone is following this today but the Dem's put out the message that Mrs. Palin's 17 year old daughter, unwed daughter, is pregnant. It reminds me of the slip of the tongue about Cheney's daughter Lynn. Hopefully this announcement will backfire as the Lynn Cheney comment did.

As a side note....I just saw Laura Bush and Cindy McCain make a speech at the convention. I admire the manner in which Mrs. Bush presents and conducts herself....a lady, a true first lady. And, Cindy McCain looked absolutely stunning.

Many times when watching political shows I test myself on spotting the dems vs. the Republicans. I'm seldom wrong. It's funny how most just look the part!

the repubs are lukewarm (at best)...........and our Lord Jesus will spue them out of His Mouth

i understand that (maybe?) ........the repubs are better than the dems........but, millions will vote for the evolutionist mccain,,,and the fake christian obama

i won't be among them

and Ron Paul is not my man..........he said that he will keep the un-sustainable entitlements going for more years,,,,,,,,,and stop them later.............my position is to stop the entitlements right now

so, Ron paul is a thief,,,,,,,,but he's less of a thief than the repubs and dems

the entitlements are sending borrowed money to current retireees and beneficiaries...........that borrowed money can't ever be paid back..............that's stealing

all the repubs and dems are thieves.........not one has complainly bitterly about the National Debt, evolution, gay rights,

i believe that the National Debt is ONE of the reasons that we're having the Great Trib now...........it is horrific stealing and sin

our National culture and religion is stealing............the economic collapse is imminent

no candidate has called for ending the entitlements,,,,,,,,,so all of them have legalized stealing.
Ron has not called for an immediate end to the entitlements,,,,,,,,so, he's a thief and traitor.
but, Ron has talked better than the rest of the thieves

if they have legalized stealing,,,,,,,,,then, their words mean nothing to me.........they are liars and thieves.........they can't be trusted on abortion or anything else

if i vote for thieves,,,,,,,,,,will i lose my salvation?

if i vote for evolutionists, will i lose my salvation?

a vote for a repub or democrat is a wasted vote

Dennis...

You are a believer.

I would like to think that when it comes to believers....that they would vote for the BEST person who represents their values and morals.

To give votes to anyone other than the Republicans...increases the chance then that the Dems could win.

Ron Paul will not win. I hope you realize this.

The Democratic party does not represent most of the same values that Christians have.

I look at it sort of as voting for the lesser of two evils.

So I vote Republican straight down the line because this party tends to fight for the issues that are closest to my heart.

I hope that when the time comes....you will look deep within your heart and let the Lord guide your decision.

God bless.

By the way....I am listening to CNN right now...and I just heard Obama say that he is very much against anyone speaking out against Palins daughter. He said he thinks families are off limits and he would not like it if he found anyone in his campaign bringing these stories up about her daughter.

I agree with him that the children should be OFF LIMITS under all circumstances....but when it comes to the spouse.....I feel that the ways they think about our nation and their views are very relevant.

By allowing abortion and electing abortion approved justices from an Obama win?

And just how does that leave someone with a clean conscience?

That question is for you to answer to yourself, not me or anyone else.

Dennis....

I cannot understand your reasoning. I have nothing against you. But I don't see what you do in the Republican party. Sarah Palin has been KNOWN by many and they vouch for her beliefs. Her actions also speak VERY LOUD.

Think about it....

If she is the only one in both parties who is really living for God....she is running for the VP spot. If she gets it...she could potentially be President one day if McCain does not want to be re-elected. (if she were to win).

I keep thinking of Queen Ester when I think of her. Sometimes, without knowing it....God could be trying to help us. Many of us are praying for our nation while others want to spew their curses on us.

That is not coming from God when they do that.

We need to humble ourselves as a nation and repent for the masses. God knows that not all in this country know Him. But the believers in this Nation are the Watchkeepers. WE are the ones that should be manning the gates.

But were NOT! So many are asleep even when they don't know it.

The Republican party is certainly not without its faults....but the Democratic party (I consider to be the party of Satan) sorry. That is just how I feel.

They have NOTHING to offer on the table that reflect my own values as a believer in G-d.

THE SEVEN THUNDERS
Palin has learned to not drop the name Hillary anymore... at one of the stops before the RNC she had mentioned to the crowd the credit she gives to Hillary regarding the "cracks in the glass ceiling" like she did at the announcement of her candidacy, but this time the Republican constituency booed the name of Hillary. The race is on.

Evangelical Sarah Palin. Hallelujah!
August 31, 2008 03:00 PM EST

She was reared in the Assembly of God Church. But now she makes her worship home in any evangelical congregation she decides upon.
Bottom line: She's evangelical.

1. She believes the Bible to be the revealed Word of God.

2. She believers in Savior Jesus Christ.

3. She believes in salvation through Christ's shed blood on Calvary.

4. She believes in biblical morality.

5. She believes in the biblical definition of marriage and family.

6. She believes in God's abhorrence of sodomy and killing womb children.

7. She believes in heaven and hell.

8. She believes in America's Judeo-Christian heritage being kept intact.

9. She believes in the Judgment Seat of Christ.

What more could America's believers want in a leader? She is particularly aligned with the Wallisa Bible Church.

The church's theme is printed on its web site: 'Enjoying God's grace to the fullest measure ... John
1:16'

Also: 'Extending God's grace to the farthest reaches ...1 Peter 4:10'

Those two verses accent salvation through Christ's gift of grace extended to the repentant sinner. It also accents the missionary outreach globally, presenting Christ as personal Lord and Savior.

Pastor Larry Kroon states on his site: 'Our desire at Wasilla Bible Church is for everyone to experience the excellence of Jesus Christ in their lives.'

Concerning Christ, Pastor Kroon states:

'By God's grace everything in the life of this church will revolve around the reality of Jesus Christ – who He is, what He has done, what He is doing, and what He will do.

'In the words of the early Church 'He is Lord' and will be recognized as such in this church with an absolute allegiance that lifts Him above all others in our hearts, in our homes, and in our congregation.

'It is His commands that we will obey, His warnings that we will heed, and His promises that we will hold.

'In every endeavor we will rely upon His power, cherish His presence, and honor His name. We will, in sum, love Him. (John 14:6)'

Every evangelical worldwide will agree with this lifting up of Christ as the Answer to personal and world problems. This is what the John McCain running mates confesses as her personal faith.

Sarah Palin is the exact opposite to the immoral Democrat Party platform and its advocates.

The Dem Party is the party of death.

It is death to biblical morality, womb babies, marriage, and biblical definition of sex.

It is death to civility, the nation's Christian heritage, freedom of religious expression, and reason.

With the Dems committing themselves to open homosexual activity, homosexual 'marriage,' killing womb infants, meshing all religions as one, erasing the Judeo-Christian backdrop, wedding to secularism, political correctness as defined as immorality as prime, and fighting off every Christian voice left in the nation, Dems have become the evil warriors.

Now the Republican Party has given America the chance to return to God—period. The Dems have buried God in favor of their own gods. The Republican Party in Sarah Palin now represents the God of the Bible.

Without the God of the Bible, America will slide off the map, becoming a castoff due to God's wrath settling upon the country. God's anger will descend as never before.

Yet in the face of this awful possibility, the righteous remnant has persisted in interceding on behalf of the Republic. This remnant believes that the effectual, righteous prayers are mighty before the eternal throne. Therefore, the remnant continues to continue and will never quit.

With Sarah Palin as the Vice President alongside John McCain, America still has a chance for divine blessings.
Otherwise, we are open to the curses beyond measure.

It’s interesting how Mondale selected Geraldine Ferraro to be his Vice Presidential candidate 24 years ago on July 12, 1984, an accomplishment that supersedes Hillary Clinton’s failed attempt to land on the Democratic Presidential Ticket, while Sarah Palin, the Republican Vice Presidential Nomination was able to accomplish the same as Ferraro. So Hillary really is not as hot as she “thinks” she is when one considers that only HALF the Democratic Party embraced her, while nearly the MAJORITY of the Democratic Party rallied behind Ferraro, and nearly the MAJORITY of the Republican Party will also do the same for Palin. It’s not so much Hillary that Palin should have recognized for paving the way for acceptance of a woman in the upper branch of government and breaking the glass ceiling in politics, but rather, that honor should in reality go to Ferraro who planted the seed 24 years ago by her maverick accomplishment, and whom Hillary should also thank.

I just can't wait to see and hear Palin's speech tomorrow on the RNC... she's gonna knock 'em dead.

Sounds like you didn't hear the speech she gave when McCain first introduced her. She recognized Ferraro before she did Hillary. IN FACT, Ferraro heard it and was blown away that she was finally recognized because NOBODY including Hillary had done so before Palin did. Ferraro is also on record as saying that it's quite possible that she will even vote for McCain/Palin.

McCain Campaign: News Media Demanding DNA Testing of Palin Family
Tuesday, September 2, 2008

McCain presidential campaign strategist Steve Schmidt went on the record with the Washington Post's Howard Kurtz today, revealing the depths to which the mainstream media has sunk in their efforts to destroy the family of Republican vice presidential pick Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Schmidt said that the campaign has been deluged with demands from reporters that the Palin family submit to DNA testing to assuage baseless rumors promulgated by the Democratic party's favorite website, the Daily Kos.

Schmidt accused the media of being "on a mission to destroy" Sarah Palin.

Kurtz writes that Markos Moulitsas, the founder of the Daily Kos, believes the made up allegations against Palin and her daughter are legitimate. Kurtz fails to note that Moulitsas writes for the Post's sister publication, Newsweek.

Schmidt also said reporters are demanding to see the birth certificate for Palin's newborn.

The news media is treading on dangerous ground with their despicable behavior regarding the Palin family. They are arousing an anger in Americans all across the country who see themselves in the Palin family and are beyond outrage over how they have been trashed.

And then these to hit news stands soon.

Well, well, if the despicable slime-bag media hounds want to gravel and dig in the closet, then perhaps the McCain Campaign might suggest that they will certainly agree to their demands, IF there is ALSO a DNA test to dispel the long lingering rumors that Chelsea Clinton is REALLY the daughter of Webb Hubble. And by doing so, it will be clear to all how egregious the media’s ridiculous demand sounds. With this bunch of scum you have to fight fire with fire, I tell you.

Talk about low. But its interesting that as they attack this woman....she shines even brighter. God bless her.

Michael Moore Posts Vicious Palin Rumor

The reaction to Sarah Palin by far-left bloggers hit a new low when the unfounded rumor was posted that Palin's recent pregnancy was feigned as part of a supposed coverup for her expectant daughter.

This would have meant that the Alaska governor was actually the grandmother of baby Trig.

As a result of the rumors, the Palins made the decision to reveal that their oldest daughter is currently pregnant.

Prior to the Palins’ acknowledgement, Michael Moore jumped on the unfounded rumor and posted the following headline: “Show Us the DNA!; Claim: Palin is the grandmother of her ‘daughter’.”

In addition to being reckless in putting the rumor up, Moore got the gender of the child wrong as well.

The filmmaker has since removed the story from his site.

In their fight for political power you’d think that lefty bloggers could come up with something a little more respectable than a pilfered plotline from “Desperate Housewives.”

Adeline
In all respect, I must ask what scandal? What skeletons is she hiding in the closet? And what right has the media to demand that the Palin family submit to a DNA testing? If people think that this is a scandal than what were people thinking last year when it was shed to light about the immoral and illegal behavior of some of our leaders in government.

I think the liberal media is trying to do a hacket job on Palin reputation which is nothing new. Palin must have understood that once she accepted the challenges as VP that the media would be trying to dig dirt up on her. What is so impressive about her (up to this point) is that she is not herself flinging mud. She is remaining composed and professional. I think this is the perfect time for this particular candidate to gain entry into the White House.

God Blessings,

Al

If McCain withdraws his pick of her....it truely will be the most stupid thing he could do.

She is exactly what he needs to even have a chance to win.

Where did you hear this?

And with all the attacks that the Dems are putting out against her.....that may very well bite them in the backside in the end.

Adeline
It doesn't appear to be that McCain is going to withdraw his nomination...Republicans around this nation are getting enthused and are really excited about this pick. If McCain withdraws nomination of Palin it is a sure bet that he will loose this election. McCain knows this.

I saw it on Yahoo headlines yesterday but then again it could have been speculation as I can't find it now. Some are saying that because of all the ruckus that Gov Palin may withdraw, but if she accepts the nomination, that McCain cannot take her off the ticket. So forgive if I didn't have it accurate smile.gif. I'm all for the ladies, but I think she does have a lot on her plate and if anything happens to McCain, she'd be in charge, and that's a lot of responsibility for a woman that's only in her mid 40's. I know she has more experience than Obama and I will be watching her speech. smile.gif

Blessings all! Meant no harm.

But I'm still all for Mitt getting in and nudging McCain out. I don't know if he can do that now. But I read something on the headlines that says he does have his eye set for the presidency. He had better morals and values than the both teams together. His stepping down speech brought me to tears, but it was so truthful. I felt the need to stand by this man.

You know, you're right. In comparison to Obama's experience, Palin, who is up for a lesser position (VP), has far more experience than Obama. At least she has rolled up her sleeves and governed an entire state, which in order to be a leader of a nation that's what is required, "governance", where responsibilities are "delgated" and the leader empowers others as he/she steps aside. Regional Senators, on the otherhand, tend to "micro-manage", which is a very poor attribute for a national leader because it debilitates adroit action required in snap decision making situations that a national leader continually faces. Obama's "experience" is nothing but hollow "posturing" and "presidential posing"... the emperor has no clothes.

I know she has more experience than Obama and I will be watching her speech. smile.gif

Okay...fair enough.

But let me say this....as you stated....she has A LOT more experience than Obama.

In fact...I was listening to talk radio when I went to pick up my girls from school and they were saying that Newt Gingrich just nailed this reporter who came up to him and started mentioning how unqualified she was. It was really funny to listen to.

Newt turned it back on him and went down the list of all her accomplishments....

*Mayor of Wasilla, AK (1996-2006)
*President of Alaska Conference of Mayors;
*City Council member (1992-1996)
*Executive Experience Governor for 2 years;
*Mayor for 10 years
*she is head of the National Guard in her state
*she protects the oil and gas pipelines from terrorist attacks
*Governor of state that borders two foreign countries (Canada and Russia)

Barack Obamas accomplishments.....?

*State Senator (1997-2004);
*Community Organizer

When you compare resumes of these two people....it is like a boy coming out of high school and trying to apply for President of the United States to a woman with a PhD applying for Vice President.

She BY FAR out does him in the capability to run this country.

And it is so interesting how when a woman is running for the Democratic party....there is never any issue being brought up about her responsibilities as a parent. Even Biden was a single father when his wife died. Why didn't anyone bring HIS responsibilites to his children up? And he was single.

NOW that it is a WOMAN....(married to a wonderful man by the way) and has proven that she can do all that plus be a Governor and she just happens to be a Conservative Republican......

NOW there is some issues with her being a parent and what if this or what if that....

I am so looking forward to hearing Palin talk tonight.

You know.....one of her nicknames is Sarah Barracuda. As I have heard those from Alaska say....she did not get that name for nothing!

God bless her!

Sarah Palin's Resume vs. Barack Obama's Resume

Obama’s “EMPTY SUIT”

Clearly this demonstrates Obama doesn’t even qualify to be a Vice President, let alone President of a World Power... -7

ALSO:
John McCain vs. Barack Obama Resume Comparison

Political Resumes:

The following is to show how incomparable the nominees’ resumes are. John McCain is qualified and experienced. Obama has accomplished nothing in his life besides winning elections.
John McCain (condensed version):
Graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1958
McCain requested a combat assignment so he could put his life on the line for his country despite the fact that there was a strong chance he would lose his life.
While on a bombing mission over North Vietnam, he was shot down, badly injured, and captured as a prisoner of war by the North Vietnamese. He was a prisoner of war for 6
years.
McCain was almost killed on July 29, 1967 when he was at the epicenter of the Forrestal fire. He escaped from his burning jet and was trying to help another pilot escape when a bomb exploded
The North Vietnamese wanted release McCain to make it look like to other POWs that elites like McCain were willing to be treated preferentially. McCain said no and was tortured horribly for turning down release. This shows he is able to put his country before himself.
Commanded a large squadron of ships
US congressman for 26 years
He is a Ranking Member of the Armed Services Committee.
Member of the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs.
Showed an ability to negotiate with people who disagree with him by joining Senator Feingold to pass Campaign Finance Reform despite fellow republicans claiming the bill was not conservative enough. He showed he could put his country before his party allegiances. This is something Barack Obama has never done.
He spearheaded the line-item veto bill.
Chairman of the powerful Senate Commerce Committee
He stood up against Rumsfeld’s Iraq strategy despite resistance from his party. The change in strategy that resulted is credited for major progress made in the war.
Worked with many democrats to stop the disastrous Harriet Miers nomination by George Bush. His actions led to the appointment of Roberts and Alito. They are two of the strongest constitutionalists on the court.
Spearheaded legislation to stop torture of prisoners of war
Spearheaded legislation against Bush and the rest of his party including HMO reform, climate change, and gun legislation
Spearheaded an effort to reduce spending.
Spearheaded effort to stop earmarks. He has been nicknamed the sheriff for the amount of earmarks that he has stopped.
He has voted with his party only 63% of the time showing he is willing to put the country ahead of political parties.

Barack Obama (expanded version):
Did cocaine and marijuana in his youth.
State senator for 7 years.
Here is a list of his accomplishments while he was in the state senate:
Voted “present” 130 times rather than actually voting to represent his constituency on issues like partial-birth abortion, gun control, and the prohibition of strip clubs.
(the end of accomplishment list)
US Senator for less than one term:
Senate Foreign Relations Committee member, but has yet to attend a meeting on Afghanistan.
Has not spearheaded ANY legislation.
Voted with his party 97% of the time according to an independent study (the highest percentage of any senator).

Whoa! I said I meant no harm, just giving my side. I'm sorry you took this so personally, I am on the republican side and not the dems... so no worries. I'll watch the speech, but experience or not, she just may crack under pressure of the media, and the nasty media seems to ruin everything. This is evident by all the news reports that want to drag up her past, her present, etc. This is life, she needs to be able to handle the stress of her life being under a microscope now like every candidate, or high profile person. I just made mention that she has a lot on her plate. Nickname or not, can she do 4 years of this and be in the limelight while raising a full family? Or does she leave it to her husband to take over. Only time will tell.

Really, this was not meant to cause a big problem. There are all different thoughts running all over this forum, I thought I was allowed to have one too. I'm glad I didn't say I was going to vote for Obama! wacko.gif

I need for you to know....

The first two lines were for you....and then the rest of my post..... I was just speaking generally.

I'm so sorry that I seemed like I was directing all that toward you. I wasn't.

I am frustrated with the Media. They are so very liberal for the most part and it is disgusting how unbalanced they are.

The media in the United States is a JOKE!

I could tell what side you were on brother. No worries. And I'm so glad you have joined us.

Bless you.

Again...I'm so sorry that I sounded like I was jumping you about this.
