2Kings 2:1,9-11 – And it came to pass, when the Lord was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha. “Ask what may I do for you, before I am taken away from you.” And Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” So he said, “You have ask a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not it shall not be so.” Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

ELIJAH’S LETTER TO THE KING
2Chronicles 21:12-15 – And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet. saying,

Thus says the Lord God of your father David: because you
have not walked in the way of Jehoshaphat your father, or
in the way of Asa king of Judah, but have walked in the
way of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the
inhabitance of Jerusalem to play the harlot like the harlotry
like the house of Ahab, and also have killed your brothers,
those of your father’s household, who were better than
yourself.
behold, the Lord will strike your people with a serous
affliction – your children, your wives, and all your
possessions, and you will become very sick with a disease
of your intestines, until your intestines comes out by
reason of the sickness day by day.

The above is a letter that Elijah wrote to the king sometime after he was taken up to heaven.

Elijah had a habit of being taken up/transported from them by God so this man was concern for his life that God would take Elijah away after he told the king that Elijah was back.

1 Kings 18:12 (BBE)
12 And straight away, when I have gone from you, the spirit of the Lord will take you away, I have no idea where, so that when I come and give word to Ahab, and he sees you not, he will put me to death: though I, your servant, have been a worshipper of the Lord from my earliest years.

Elijah was not the only man of God that was lifted up from the ground and taken to another place

Acts 8:39 (NKJV)
39 Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.
Apparently this is one of the ways that God use to transport His prophets/messengers possible because the place He wanted them to go the distance was long, or maybe urgent.

All died in faith and did not receive the promise

Hebrews 11:13 (ASV)
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

ONLY JESUS HAS ASCENDED TO THE THIRD HEAVEN
John 3:13 – No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is the Son of man who is in heaven.

Elijah did ascend to heaven as the Bible said the question is which heaven did he ascend to? The first heaven is the expanse of space that seems to be over the earth like a dome: firmament. The second heaven is the region beyond the earth's atmosphere or beyond the solar system, the place where the stars, Galaxies, solar nebulas are: outer space. And the third is the dwelling place of God, from where He rules over His creation. There is no dought that Elijah ascended to the first heaven. In other words he was lifted up into the air by a whirlwind and taken to another place on the earth.

Yes, i believe he did, since there were different stages of heaven. I enjoyed the post.

Too bad you would still insist this, despite what the scriptures show.

David wrote about the first and second heaven in the Psalms.

Psalm 19:1-6 (ASV)
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament showeth his handiwork.
2 Day unto day uttereth speech, And night unto night showeth knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language; Their voice is not heard.
4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoiceth as a strong man to run his course.
6 His going forth is from the end of the heavens, And his circuit unto the ends of it; And there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

Why do you beloeve that the third heaven is the new heaven? The third heaven have been around since the begining of creation.

Notice that it in Genesis it says heavens and not heaven; all three heavens were created in the beginning along the earth.

Genesis 1:1 (ASV)
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Notice also that the Father is in the third heaven now, who Jesus said would be glorified when others see our good works.

Matthew 5:16 (ASV)
16 Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Jesus is in the third heaven on His Father's throne.

Revelation 3:21 (ESV)
21 The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

So the third heaven and the new heaven are completely two different heavens, one has already been created and the other is yet to be.

The third heaven is mentioned by name in this verse.

2 Corinthians 12:2 (ASV)
2 I know a man in Christ, fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I know not; or whether out of the body, I know not; God knoweth), such a one caught up even to the third heaven.

In 2 Corinthians the author did not say that this was the new heaven he was caught up into. It was important to distinguish this heaven from the other heavens; the sky or the second heaven beyond the earth's atmosphere, the solar system.

II Corinth. 12:2 is a revealing, not an actual going into the third heaven. Also, notice that it speaks of a man in Christ, and not of Christ himself, but a man in Christ. Which means a man in fellowship with God. It was a "revealing" of the third heaven, which is the New heaven.

The Word of God speaks of a New Heaven and New Earth in conjuction with one another - II Peter 3:13 - Look for new heavens and a new earth <- Notice once again of the Word of God speaking about heaven in the plural - heavens. New means "New"

Three or third means complete and is in conjuction with new. Jesus was raised the third day. The third hour -Acts 2:15

I Kings 18:34 & 35

The third heavens and earth are the new heavens and earth.

I never said it was speaking about Jesus, but it does say that he, this person was caught up into the third heaven, the only question in the writer’s mind is in how it was done in the body or out of the body? I would suggest that this was a vision (out of the body) - I would imagine that a vision can seem like the real thing to the one having the vision. Nothing in what is said or imply that it's the new heaven, it just an assumption on your part. Just as it would be an assumption if I said someone came to see me today, so you believe that that person came to my home. Even though I never said that I was at home when that person came to see me, I was some where else. I have already shown the three different heavens that God has already created in the beginning, so if you want to insist that the third heaven is the new heaven ok, I am not going to force the issue with you on this…we will just have to disagree to disagree.

2Kings 2:11 "And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, [there appeared] a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

v.12 And Elisha saw [it], and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more"

After Elijah was taken into heaven, he was seen no more... except at the transfiguration where he appeared with Christ and Moses. (Mat.17:3)

Regarding 2Chronicles 21:12:

Because Elijah was taken up in King Jehoshaphat's time (2Kings 2 and 3:11), and it is not recorded that he was ever seen again (except at the transfiguration of Jesus), the possibilities are that:

It actually was Elisha, or a different Elijah, OR Elijah could have written the letter before he was taken up, but that it was delivered to Jehoram afterward... having an added sense of doom; a voice of rebuke coming from the dead per se.

Regarding John 3:13:

Strong's H8064 - "heaven" :

heaven, heavens, sky; visible heavens, sky (as abode of the stars; as the visible universe, the sky, atmosphere, etc)
Heaven (as the abode of God)

It is unclear where Enoch and Elijah were transported, but simply because the Word indicates how they were highly
favored of God, we know that God's presence was where they were... "because God took him".

Gen. 5:24 "Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away."

v.12 And Elisha saw [it], and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.

The scriptures must be taken as a whole and not one or two in isolation of the others because it will give the impression that the Bible contradicts itself. So you have to take what is said in one part of the Bible on a subject with other parts to get a full picture. This is all I am going to say on this topic.

Elijah is dead, like all the other prophets. Lets go to stJohn 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

I want to explain something to you people, this is very simple, read the Lord's prayer.
The Lord's prayer talks about the earth and heaven, lets take a look.

Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Lets read verse 10:Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
So this means that earth will look like heaven, right.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

Here's the transliterated interpretation of 2 Kings 2:11

Chariot in Hebrew =

a vehicle; by implication, a team; by extension, cavalry; by analogy a rider,
i.e. the upper millstone:--chariot, (upper) millstone, multitude (from the
margin), wagon.

Horses in Hebrew =

from an unused root meaning to skip (properly, for joy); a horse (as leaping);
also a swallow (from its rapid flight):--crane, horse((-back, -hoof)). Compare
H6571.

Fire in Hebrew =

fire (literally or figuratively):-- burning, fiery, fire, flaming, hot.

Whirlwind in Hebrew =

from H5590; a hurricane:--storm(-y), tempest, whirlwind.

So, Elijah got picked up in a rapidly moving Vehicle burning with fire that caused hurricane or tornadic like winds to form

Hi Ozell, smile.gif

If Elijah is dead... how do you explain his appearance with Moses and Christ at the transfiguration? (Mat.17:3)

Hi Sister Annie

Let's start at the end of Matthew 16

24: Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26: For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27: For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28: Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

I know you are aware that this is Jesus coming, keep in mind, Jesus said when the son of man come in his glory. The is what the conversation is about even six days later.

Now lets read into Matthew 17

1: And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2: And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light

3: And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

4: Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
5: While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
6: And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
7: And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
8: And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
9: And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

what they saw was a vision!

how do I know.

Jesus said

Jn 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

Paul said

Heb 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

Paul said

1Tim 4v1: I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

Paul said again

1Cor 15v
20: But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
21: For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22: For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23: But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

The Lord showed them a vision.

when is the raiment made white?
when do the face shine like the sun?

Dan12v 1: And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

2: And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

3: And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

Rv 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Here Am I
Strong's G3705

1) that which is seen, spectacle
2) a sight divinely granted in an ecstasy or in a sleep, a vision

"Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead." -Mat.17:9

According to Strong's meaning 1... Literally just means...'Don't tell anyone what you saw'. Also, note that in all three accounts of the transfiguration (Mark 9, Luke 9), this word "vision" is only used once.

What Peter, James and John "saw" was a miracle before their very eyes.

Also, important to note is that nowhere is it recorded in the Bible that Elijah died or was buried, which would highly unusual for such a prominent figure.

Elijah did not die, the Lord took him to heaven in a whirlwind, but Moses did die and the Lord buried him. So we see these two men standing with and talking to Jesus. They were not asleep awaiting the resurrection, they were in heaven or paradise at that point. With Elijah, I am not sure this is true, but with Moses, his body was asleep awaiting resurrection, but his soul was already with the Lord.

Elijah did reappear on earth along with Moses when Jesus was transfigured.

Where were they? And what about Enoch who "God took" (Gen.5:24) ? “Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death; and he was not because God took him up; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God.” Elijah and Enoch didn’t die when they were “taken up” immediately to the sky “heaven,” God kept them in the “Paradise” portion of Hades until Jesus’ resurrection when they went directly to the heaven where God dwells:

"For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better" -Philippians 1:23

Hebrews goes on to note that this “heavenly hope” was given not only to Enoch, but also to Abel, Noah, Abraham and Sarah: "All these died in faith, without receiving the promises…and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth….indeed if they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them."

Not only does Scripture state that these servants of God who died prior to Christ were seeking a "heavenly" country, but Jesus told his followers that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will be "in" the "kingdom of heaven."

"I say to you, that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven." -Mat.8:11

"In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out. And they will come from east and west and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God." -Luke 13:28-29

None of God’s servants who died prior to Christ could go to heaven until their sins had been atoned for at the cross. Enoch, Elijah and all the souls of the OT saints were in Abraham's Bosom.

"Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)" Ephesians 8-10

"And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth shook; and the rocks were split, and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many." -Matthew 27:50-53

"For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison."
-1Peter 3:18-19

"And He said to him, ‘Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise" -Luke 23:43

Now, that Paradise is the "third Heaven" the spirits of Christians who die, go immediately to be “with” Jesus in heaven:

"I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago— whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a man was caught up to the third heaven. And I know how such a man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows—was caught up into Paradise, and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak." 2Corinthians 12:2-4

"We are confident, [I say], and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." -2 Corinthians 5:8"

So... does this verse mean that no person who died prior to Christ will be in heaven? :

"And no one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven, even the Son of Man." John 3:13

No. By saying this, Jesus simply proclaimed that He was the first one to ascend "into heaven"

Sister

I agree they literally saw Moses and Elijah. Alss take note the the Lord took on another figuration different from what was before he vision.

so they saw Moses and Elijah and they say the Lord at another level than they are use to.

QUOTE
Also, important to note is that nowhere is it recorded in the Bible that Elijah died or was buried, which would highly unusual for such a prominent figure.

nor does it say that he is alive.

QUOTE
Elijah did not die, the Lord took him to heaven in a whirlwind, but Moses did die and the Lord buried him. So we see these two men standing with and talking to Jesus. They were not asleep awaiting the resurrection, they were in heaven or paradise at that point. With Elijah, I am not sure this is true, but with Moses, his body was asleep awaiting resurrection, but his soul was already with the Lord.

consider these verse to the above;

we have two spirit being standing before the disciples. what is called a vision.

who is the firstborn from the dead?

Jesus, Moses, Elijah, Enoch,

Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Jesus is!!

In Matthew 17 Jesus had not died and rose the 1st time, so how could Moses or any one be before then.

next Paul said in 1Cor 15 that the next resurrection is at Jesus coming. How could Moses and Elijah be before then?

16: For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
17: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
18: Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
19: If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
20: But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
21: For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22: For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23: But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

when the Lord comes and the 1st resurrection occur there will be dead and alive people.

Paul let's us know this in 1Thess 4

13: But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14: For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15: For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

you said the soul is with the Lord. show me where the soul is with the Lord?

Elijah is a prophet

Paul said
Heb 11v
32: And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34: Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35: Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36: And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38: (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
39: And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

40: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

Elijah was a prophet and he did not receive the promise. what is the promise? Jesus kingdom, the Father's kingdom which is eternal life.

will he get the promise? yes! when? when we are made perfect. when is that ? the 1st resurrection.

here is a example of what people saw and what actually happened

Ex24v
1: And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.
9: Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel

10: And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.

11: And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.

was Moses and the 72 elders in heaven? what did they see? who did they see? They saw God. How? flesh and blood cannot dwell in heaven.

QUOTE
b]Elijah did reappear on earth along with Moses when Jesus was transfigured.

in a vision?

QUOTE
Where were they? And what about Enoch who "God took" (Gen.5:24) ? “Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death; and he was not because God took him up; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God.” Elijah and Enoch didn’t die when they were “taken up” immediately to the sky “heaven,” God kept them in the “Paradise” portion of Hades until Jesus’ resurrection when they went directly to the heaven where God dwells:

Moses and Elijah are dead. Enoch did not die he was translated.

how can Enoch or Elijah be in paradise?

The Lord said

Jn 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

ascend means to take up.

Elijah and Enoch are men.

no man is absolute!!!

"For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better" -Philippians 1:23

when is or when will Paul be with Jesus?

1Cor 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept.

1Cor 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

why at his coming?

Heb 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

It can't happen without us.

QUOTE
Hebrews goes on to note that this “heavenly hope” was given not only to Enoch, but also to Abel, Noah, Abraham and Sarah: "All these died in faith, without receiving the promises…and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth….indeed if they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them."

Not only does Scripture state that these servants of God who died prior to Christ were seeking a "heavenly" country, but Jesus told his followers that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will be "in" the "kingdom of heaven."

where will the heavenly kingdom be?

Jesus is coming to earth! his kingdom is on earth for 1000 years.

the Father kingdom is a after Jesus kingdom, this is the New Jerusalem coming down from heaven,

the kingdoms are on the earth, not in heaven.

QUOTE
"I say to you, that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven." -Mat.8:11

"In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out. And they will come from east and west and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God." -Luke 13:28-29

yes on earth.

Rv 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
we are made kings and priests on the EARTH.

what is Jesus?

Rv 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Rv 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

and Jesus shall be king over all the earth

Zech 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

QUOTE
None of God’s servants who died prior to Christ could go to heaven until their sins had been atoned for at the cross. Enoch, Elijah and all the souls of the OT saints were in Abraham's Bosom.

In the NT the literal act had to be carried out but the atonement had taken place.

Rv 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Jesus was slain from the foundation of the world. When Adam sinned the plan went into affect, even before then.
Adam was not around when the earth was formed.

QUOTE
"Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)" Ephesians 8-10

"For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison."
-1Peter 3:18-19

"And He said to him, ‘Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise" -Luke 23:43

so did the thief beat Jesus to heaven.

keep in mind Jesus did not go to heaven right away. Jesus told Mary

Jn 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Jesus had to be seen of the apostles and many other people before he left.

so the thief beat the Lord to heaven.

If this is the case then Jesus cannot be the firstborn from the dead

Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

QUOTE
Now, that Paradise is the "third Heaven" the spirits of Christians who die, go immediately to be “with” Jesus in heaven:

keep this verse in memory

this is Job, who Jesus said is a perfect and upright man

Job 14v

12: So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

Job said man lieth down until the heaven be no more, nor is he raised out of his sleep.

when is the heaven no more?

Rv 6
12: And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13: And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14: And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

QUOTE
b]"I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago— whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a man was caught up to the third heaven.

when are we absent from the body and present with the Lord. when we appear before the judgement seat of Jesus. then do we receive the things done to this body.

2 Cor 5v8
9: Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10: For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
11: Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

QUOTE
"And no one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven, even the Son of Man." John 3:13

No. By saying this, Jesus simply proclaimed that He was the first one to ascend "into heaven"

It says NO MAN has ascended to heaven! not no one. no one can include the Holy angels.

Jn 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

this is when the Lord comes

Mt 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31: And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

a dead man is dead until the heavens be no more or until the Lord comes.

13: O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!

Job said hide me in the grave until thy wrath be past.

what wrath?

Rv 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

here it is!!

Rv 15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

14: If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

Job said he will wait for his change to come.

when do the change come?

Phil 3v
20: For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

when?

1Cor 15v
51: Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52: In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Job finally say when Jesus call he will answer.

15: Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.

Let's here the Lord call

1Thes 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

and again

Rv 11:12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
13: And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

we all meet in the cloud

Rv 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

because they without us cannot be made perfect

Heb 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
