yes catholic world youth day has kicked off we have young people from all over the world staying with familys and staying in schools the muslim community has offered prayers and welcomed the pope and the young people plus for the first time the muslims have also offered help to house some young people in their school in sydney
what puzzled me a group came from africa they where ill prepared and the local christian radio station had to ask us to help some of these young people no warm clothing no blankets its our winter in australia and when the young people began to arive they felt the cold snap as we had activites happening in canberra i was in town on friday and saw sevral young people from diffrent country plus Geoff more he is a local christian artist his band played in canberra radio rehma plays a lot off his music
well all i am hearing its comming from the catholic church here am i a preist had a few things to say he said we have been asked to fork out the expenses for world youth day what the catholic priest had to say was spot on he said we should not have been asked to pay for the world youth day but we al have been told to pitch in our goverment put half the bill up and the rest is left to the catholic church
the pope arived and is resting they did not put him in an expensive motel he has a simple room plus the people that are looking after the pope lent him a kitten for his stay as he loves animals he knows a lot about our country and its history i am very supprised by his knowledge he has on our country and its dark history
i wil be listening to him speak to the young people on thursday on sbs i cant attend as its too far from where i am plus i am working so on my days off i just rest but sbs in Australia has been high lighting the events to world youth day
they have a lot off young people then the catholic church expected
canberra housed young people from diffrent parts of the world i had the chance to talk to sevral young people from germany and from italy they can speak english which supprised me i thought i would have to slow down my speech but they under stood me
kevin rud our prime minster is anglican he welcomed the young people and he had some posative things to say
though the gay community and gay christians are protesting as the new laws the australian police force have been given have been squashed the new laws that came into affect for world youth day are now not in effect so these protestors can wear their t shirts and can hand out condoms with out facing a $5,000 fine
i wil be off air on thursday and watching sbs just to see what the pope has to say
god bless from damo
