WAR IN NOVEMBER?

Last month, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed that the United States and Israel would soon be "annihilated." Today, he has just authorized a new series of Iranian war games. He has ordered the digging of 320,000 graves to bury the enemies of Islam. He is calling for the unification of the Islamic world politically and economically, including the creation of a single currency. What's more, Iranian TV is currently running a new anti-Semitic documentary series entitled, "The Secret of Armageddon," accusing Israel -- not Ahmadinejad and the mullahs -- of planning to commit genocide against the entire planet. "There is a genocidal Zionist Jewish plan for the genocide of humanity at the hand of the Zionist Jew-boys," claims one Iranian researcher interviewed for the program. "The Zionist Jew-boys talk about a 'Greater Israel' -- from the Euphrates to the Nile -- but their actual goal is world domination."

Top Israeli intelligence officials, meanwhile, increasingly believe Iran could have nuclear weapons within a year. A former Mossad chief is urging his country's leadership to launch a massive series of air strikes against Iranian nuclear and other military facilities before it is too late. Israel's Air Force just conducted a test run of such a bombing mission. John Bolton, the former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., says he believes Israel may strike Iran sometime in late fall or early winter, after the U.S. elections in November but before the inauguration of the next American President. A senior Pentagon officials told the Washington Post several days ago he is worried about the same scenario -- a November surprise -- prompting both President Bush and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs to make strong public statements warning the Israelis not to take such actions.

The U.S., however, does not seem to have a convincing plan from stopping the Iranian nuclear weapons program in time. Diplomacy isn't working. Economic sanctions have been imposed on Iran since 1979 to little strategic effect. Developing....

I was very interested in the wording of this bit -

"After an aide to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that Iran would "set fire" to Israel and US ships in the Gulf if attacked, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice warned that the United States would defend itself."

Does the use of the phrase "set fire" have any connection to any scripture? It jumped out at me as something that might but I don't know enough of the bible yet to find it for myself

Yes, it appears God is going to use Israel to set fire on her neighbors in the Isaiah 17 War:

Obadiah 1:18 The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them,

Isaiah 17:14 As the fire burns the woods, And as the flame sets the mountains on fire,

* If Obadiah is in fact parallel scripture to Isaiah 17, then we see in Obadiah 1:18, that Israel will be God’s tool to cause destruction on her neighbors. (see also Amos 1-2)


Then, in Ezekiel 38&39 God Himself will bring fire on Gog and horde:

Ezekiel 38:22 And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.
