Fatah Threatens "Catastrophe" if Summit "Fails"

by Hillel Fendel and Maayana Miskin
(IsraelNN.com) Sources are now saying that the Middle East peace conference in Washington sponsored by US President Bush might be pushed off by two weeks, until late November. The delay would give Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas extra time to agree on a joint statement.

Senior Fatah terrorists threaten a "new intifada" if the PA's demands are not met. If the upcoming conference fails to produce the desired results, Fatah parliament head Azzam al-Ahmed says, "the repercussions will be more dangerous than what happened after the failure of Camp David."

Al-Ahmed was referring to the Oslo War that followed Yasser Arafat's refusal, in 2000, to accept then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak's offer of 95-98% of Judea, Samaria and Gaza. One thousand Israelis were murdered by Palestinian terrorists between September 2000 and September 2003.

Olmert and Abbas were to meet Wednesday to continue talks for a possible pre-conference agreement. While Olmert has said he wants a general "declaration of principles" or "declaration of interests," leaving detailed negotiations for after the conference, Abbas is pushing for specific concessions now. Abbas, head of the Fatah terrorist organization, says the conference will be worthless and even dangerous if it does not produce actual land giveaways to the PA.

Al-Ahmed said that the PA might even boycott the conference altogether if Israeli negotiators do not agree in advance to certain concessions.

Abbas and the PA insist on Israel's withdrawal to the pre-1967 borders and the destruction of the Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria. Abbas has agreed, however, to accept land in other areas of Israel in exchange for three settlement blocs that might remain under Israeli sovereignty. The PA also continues to insist on the "right of return" for millions of Arabs who claim descent from those who fled Israel during the War of Independence in 1948-9.

77 Senators
Over 3/4 of the United States Senate has signed a letter to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice pointing out the importance of Arab states' cooperation in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. The Arab countries must "stop support for terrorist groups and cease all anti-Israel and anti-Jewish incitement" and act for regional peace, the letter said.

The senators also called on Arab states to recognize Israel, "and not use such recognition as a bargaining chip for future concessions." They called on Arab countries and the PA to reject terrorism and to isolate Hamas. If Arab countries do not take these steps, they warned, "peace in the region will remain elusive."

Hamas police take over Fatah office building in Gaza City: Fatah spokesman
The Associated PressPublished: October 3, 2007

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip: Hamas police took control of a four-story office building of the rival Fatah group on Wednesday, a Fatah spokesman said.

Fatah activists were ordered to leave the building without their belongings, said Fatah spokesman Hazem Abu Shanab. Since taking control of Gaza by force in June, Hamas has closed down most Fatah institutions in Gaza.

Wednesday's raid came a day after four people were killed in what Hamas said was an attempt to carry out an attack on a Hamas security compound in Gaza City. Three of those killed were members of Fatah.

Hamas said the assailants were killed when explosives they were handling exploded prematurely. Fatah activists said Hamas had attacked the group with rocket propelled grenades.

The forced evacuation of Gaza, resulting in the forced evacuation of New Orleans and vacinity, was only a bump on the radar compared to the forced evacuation of the mountains of Israel (Judea/Samaria - AKA West Bank) and the resulting catastrophies.

PA: Israel Agrees to Destroy Jewish Towns, Starting in November

by Hillel Fendel

Arutz Sheva

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/123663

(IsraelNN.com) The Palestinian Authority's Maan news agency has published a copy, in Hebrew, of PM Olmert's agreement to expel tens of thousands of Jews and replace them with a Palestinian state.

The report states that Israel has agreed to begin destroying Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria immediately following the US-sponsored international summit this coming November.

The PA claims that the document's eight points represent the principles of agreement between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas, in anticipation of the upcoming Middle East summit.

The document begins by stating that Israel and the PA are to immediately enter a process "that will lead to the formation of two states, Israel and Palestine, side by side," and are "to reach understandings of the type detailed below." The eight points upon which Olmert and Abbas undertake to agree are the following:

1. Israel will end the occupation of the West Bank within an agreed-upon time period. The retreat and the evacuation of the settlements will occur gradually and in several stages. Each area that is evacuated will be transferred to the Palestinian Authority, which will instill law and order there. The existence of a regime in Gaza that is willing to be part of the peace process will enable Israel to view Gaza and the West Bank as one political entity.

2. An unarmed Palestinian state will be established, whose permanent borders will be based on the pre-1967 borders. The precise border will reflect security, demographic and humanitarian needs. An exchange of territory will be enabled on a 1:1 basis, to preserve settlement blocs in Israeli hands and to guarantee Palestinian contiguity and economic development.

3. There will be two capitals in Jerusalem, that of Israel and that of Palestine, and they will be sovereign over the Jewish and Arab neighborhoods, respectively. The two municipalities will cooperate for the enhancement of the quality of life of all the residents.

4. Special arrangements will be emplaced to preserve free access to all the holy sites of the various religions. A special administration will be established to maintain the two nations' bonds with the holy sites in the Old City of Jerusalem.

5. Palestine will be recognized as the national home of the Palestinian nation, and Israel will be recognized as the national home of the Jewish nation.

6. A fair and agreed solution will be found for the problem of the Palestinian refugees, with consideration and recognition of the suffering that was caused to them, and with the understanding that the implementation of national self-definition will be the main aspect of the solution.

7. The two sides will declare their willingness to end the conflict and to act to increase public support for the agreement as much as possible. The two sides will act with all their force, together and separately, against any manifestation of violence and terrorism that is directed from the area of either state to the other.

8. The two sides see this agreement as a significant manifestation of the principles of the Arab League's peace initiative, and call upon the members of the League to take operative steps to bring about its full implementation. Similarly, the sides call upon the entities represented in the Quartet and international community to guarantee and help, in various ways, to promote and actualize this agreement.

The agreement ends with this paragraph:

A document based on principles of the above type must be reached before the international summit in November, must be presented during the summit, and must be anchored in international decisions after it. Immediately following the summit, parallel with the negotiations for a detailed agreement, Israel will begin withdrawing its forces and evacuating settlements from areas in the West Bank. Completion of the various stages of evacuation will be done parallel to the completion of the negotiations.
Clauses 3 and 4 indicate that Israel has agreed to give up the Temple Mount, Judaism's most sacred spot in the world, and allow an "administration" to determine when Jews would be allowed to visit or pray there.

Clauses 1 and 2 do not take into account the tremendous amount of Arab-held weaponry already present in Judea and Samaria, nor the anti-Israel violence emanating from Gaza that increased dramatically upon Israel's withdrawal in 2005.

Clause 6 leaves open the possibility that "Right of Return" refugees would be allowed to live in Israel.

The immediate response of the Yesha Council (the body representing the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria) was this:

"Only a government that acts so totally wantonly would be able to suggest such an agreement, precisely on the day that dozens of its soldiers are wounded from a rocket fired from area we gave over to the Palestinians.

The Yesha Council calls upon all those to whom Israel's security and welfare are of top priority to object to this calamitous process of Olmert. The Knesset Members must thwart this program, which means the division of Jerusalem, as well as Kassam rocket launchers to the outskirts of Kfar Saba and Ben Gurion International Airport."

Palestinian rivals: Fatah & Hamas
Two parties dominate Palestinian politics: Fatah which has been at the head of the Palestinian national movement since the 1950s, and the Islamist movement, Hamas, which won the parliamentary elections in January 2006.

The nation is preparing for its biggest terrorism exercise ever later this month when three fictional "dirty bombs" go off and cripple transportation arteries in two major U.S. cities and Guam, according to a document obtained by The Associated Press.

Yet even as this drill begins, details from the previous national exercise held in 2005 have yet to be publicly released information that's supposed to help officials prepare for the next real attack.

MIAMI (Reuters) - Seven men plotted to bring down the U.S. government by poisoning saltshakers and bombing landmark buildings, a prosecutor told Miami jurors as their terrorism conspiracy trial opened on Tuesday.

The "Liberty City Seven" aimed to create chaos as part of a holy war to pave the way for al Qaeda-affiliated guerrillas to take over the United States, Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard Gregorie said in the prosecution's opening statement.

"We need to make the people go crazy in the streets," Gregorie quoted alleged ringleader Narseal Batiste as saying. "Allah is going to take over through us."

Defense lawyers said the charges were "nonsense" scripted by the government and orchestrated by paid FBI informants they called Conman No. 1 and Conman No. 2.

They said the defendants, one of whom was devoted mainly to smoking marijuana, had no weapons or intent to do violence and that it was the informants who suggested poisoning restaurant saltshakers and blowing up buildings.

The "Liberty City Seven," named for the poor part of Miami where they gathered in a rundown warehouse, were arrested in 2006 on charges of plotting to blow up Chicago's 110-story Sears Tower -- the tallest U.S. skyscraper -- along with several FBI offices and the Miami federal court complex where they are on trial.

The young men face up to 70 years in prison if convicted on all four conspiracy counts in a case government officials have touted as an important victory in the war against terrorism.

'ASPIRATIONAL'

But federal agents said when they were arrested that the group's plans were "aspirational rather than operational," and posed no real threat because they had neither al Qaeda contacts nor means of carrying out attacks.

The government's main evidence is drawn from 15,000 audio and videotaped conversations made by the informants. One infiltrated the group and introduced the other, a purported al Qaeda operative from Yemen, as a friend of his uncle.

"Unknown to Mr. Batiste, it's Uncle Sam," Gregorie said.

Batiste's attorney, Ana Jhones, portrayed him as a would-be religious leader who aspired to big things but lacked intellect and ability. He pretended to go along with the informants, she said, because he was trying to con them out of $50,000 to turn the decrepit warehouse into a community gathering place.

"All he wanted to do was get his money and run and who better to con than somebody who was supposedly al Qaeda," Jhones said.

She said the taped conversations would reveal plots "so outrageous they're also incredible," such as Batiste's proposal to march to the White House door and announce, "Here I am."

"It will be entertaining," Jhones told the jurors, who are expected to hear about two months' worth of testimony.

The defendants met at the warehouse, which they called "the temple" or "the embassy," to practice martial arts and study religious texts, but their lawyers scoffed at depictions of them as Islamist extremists.

Defendant Stanley Phanor is a Roman Catholic who eats pork, said his attorney, Roderick Vereen. "You will not see one of these guys say 'Yay Allah, yay jihad, yay holy war,'" Vereen told the jury.

Putin's extended power welcomed by investors, worries Europe

President Vladimir Putin's shock announcement that he could remain in power as prime minister encouraged Russian investors Tuesday but prompted charges of a naked power play from the rest of Europe.
Traders snapped up Russian shares led by energy and banking issues to drive the benchmark RTS index up three percent on the day to a new all-time high. The ruble-denominated Micex index gained 3.6 percent on the day.

Front pages of national newspapers in Russia were devoted to Putin's bombshell announcement on Monday that he would run for a seat in parliament and that becoming prime minister was a "completely realistic idea."

The coverage in Russia, however, was mainly factual and neutral or celebratory in tone, in stark contrast to criticism from officials and media abroad, where Putin again took the international community off guard.

While the US administration and the European Union said Putin's announcement was an internal affair, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Washington was concerned about the "concentration of power" in Russia.

The Russian leader brought hundreds of delegates to their feet in a roar of approval when he announced at the annual congress of the ruling United Russia party that he would head its list in December 2 national parliamentary elections.

Putin "has nullified the main intrigue of the presidential election campaign," the centrist daily Vremya Novostei said, referring to speculation on who the popular president would designate as his preferred successor in the Kremlin.

"It's not important who will occupy the presidential post if the parliament and the government are controlled by the country's current leader," the paper said.

That sentiment was echoed by pro-Kremlin national daily Izvestia, which noted dryly that "Putin Has Become His Own Successor" and said it mattered little who replaced him as president so long as the 54-year-old leader held any government post.

Outright criticism in Russia was hard to come by, with even some of Putin's most vocal critics taking a relatively cautious stance.

"The time when the president was the father of the nation with no connection at all to the struggle of politics is gone for good," Garry Kasparov, the chess legend and opposition figure who has said he would challenge Putin for the presidency, commented in a radio interview late Monday.

While political analysts groped for a coherent response to Putin's announcement, Russian officials and market experts described the move as good for investors.

"This is a very important decision for business because it guarantees stability and the continuation of today's direction regardless of who becomes president in 2008," said Alexander Shokhin, head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

Brokers almost uniformly also took that view.

"In the short-term, these developments should be taken positively by the market, reconfirming that the Kremlin intends to secure the continuity of current economic policies in Russia for the period after the elections," investment bank Renaissance Capital said in a note to investors.

In Washington, the White House said that the prospect that Putin might become prime minister is "ultimately a matter for the people of Russia to decide."

Spokeswoman Dana Perino said "We will be paying very close attention to the upcoming elections in Russia and we urge them to conduct them in a manner that is free, fair and democratic."

But Rice said in an interview with the New York Post daily: "I think the concerning thing about Russia right now is just the concentration of power in the Kremlin; leave aside the presidency itself."

It was not clear whether she spoke before or after Putin's announcement.

European newspapers took a more critical stance toward Putin.

In an editorial, The Times of London asked: "Has Vladimir Putin just pulled the plug on Russian democracy?", noting that his announcement indicated that he intended to "simply switch titles" in order to remain in politics "and continue his authoritiarian rule."

Italy's Corriere della Sera newspaper said Putin would now be looking for a "puppet" to take over his position as president in an election in March.

The German daily Frankfurter Allegmeine Zeitung predicted that more surprises from the Russian leader lay ahead. "The Putin era is far from finished -- it has only just begun."

Iran threatensIran threatens to attack 170 US targets to attack 170 US targets

JPost.com Staff , THE JERUSALEM POST Oct. 1, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Iran threatened Monday to attack some 170 American targets in the Middle East and around the world if it is attacked by Israel or the US, Israel Radio reported.

A high-ranking officer from the country's Revolutionary Guards told the force's official journal, The Guards, that Teheran succeeded, after extended and comprehensive work, to identify hundreds of strategic American targets in the Middle East and around the world.

The Revolutionary Guards' Ground Forces Command is able to easily kill American nationals staying in the Middle East. "Several years ago they [Americans] were far away from us by thousands of kilometers. Now they are so close we can touch them," the Iranian general said.

On Sunday former US ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton told Tory delegates in Britain that efforts by the UK and the EU to negotiate with Iran had failed and that he saw no alternative to a pre-emptive strike on suspected nuclear facilities in the country.

A Crack in Israel's Silence on Syria

Tuesday, October 2, 2007 3:56 PM

Article Font Size

JERUSALEM -- In a country notorious for talkative officials, Israel's silence on a recent air raid in Syria has been an anomaly. The official blackout lasted nearly a month, but it finally ended, partially, on Tuesday.

However, the slight easing of military censorship revealed little more than indirect confirmation of the Sept. 6 raid that even Syria's leader has acknowledged.

The uncharacteristic reticence reflects Israel's concern over deepening tensions and the danger of provoking an armed conflict with its northern neighbor.

Israel's little-used military censor has taken an unusually tough line on coverage of the incident, in which Israeli jets attacked a target in Syria on Sept. 6.

The information drought in Israel is such that the censor's seemingly tiny policy change Tuesday _ permitting reports of the attack without appending the world "alleged" or crediting foreign sources _ was the closest thing to a confirmation Israel has issued.

The announcement was widely seen as an official admission.

"Now it can be revealed: Israel attacked in Syria," read a headline on the Web site of the Maariv newspaper.

However, the censor's office insisted this was no confirmation. It also continued to block additional details, such as the target of the attack.

Foreign media reports since the strike, many of them quoting U.S. officials, have said Israel attacked an arms shipment to Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon or a nuclear or missile installation built with North Korean help. Others said the mission was an attempt to gauge Syria's air defenses.

John R. Bolton, a former senior Bush administration official, said he had heard from U.S. and Israeli sources that the target was either a joint nuclear or missile facility with North Korea. Bolton is a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Israeli media are aggressive, and leaks from politicians and army officers are the norm. But officials have kept silent on the Syria operation.

In an exceptional step, Israel's chief of military intelligence was even ordered not to discuss the raid when he appeared before a powerful parliamentary panel last month for fear that lawmakers might leak the information.

The silence was violated only once, by opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu. In a television interview, Netanyahu said he had been involved "from the beginning" in the planning for the strike and gave his backing. Netanyahu was widely condemned for his disclosure.

Syria too was reticent to talk about it. It first issued only a laconic report that Israeli planes had invaded its airspace and had been driven off by air defenses.

But on Monday, Syrian President Bashar Assad acknowledged in a television interview for the first time that the incursion had been an attack. He claimed the target was an unused military building.

"They bombed a building, a construction, it's related to the military but it's not used, it's under construction, so there's no people in it, no army, there's nothing in it and we don't know the reason," Assad told the British Broadcasting Corp. The full interview was aired Tuesday.

Assad also said his country has no interest in nuclear projects _ civilian or military.

The airstrike has drawn rare attention to Israel's military censorship office, which dates back to emergency regulations enacted by the British in 1945 when they ruled what is now Israel.

The censor once enjoyed broad freedom to ban media reports. Its powers were clipped, however, by a 1989 Supreme Court decision. The Internet made restricting media reports nearly impossible.

Still, journalists in Israel are required to submit articles related to security and military issues to the censor, which can make changes to stories or bar publication altogether. Violation of the censorship orders can result in the loss of press credentials or other sanctions, though such penalties are rare.

A few days after the attack, the censor informed local media and foreign wire services, including The Associated Press, that all reports connected with the Syria incident had to be vetted. On several occasions, sentences in AP reports were altered or deleted. In an unprecedented measure, the fact that the order itself was issued could not be reported.

The censorship order was met with a flurry of protests and legal action, to little effect. So while the world media dealt freely with the raid, the press in Israel was barred from revealing the considerable information in its hands and reduced to picking up secondhand reports from abroad _ even though many of those reports originated in Israel.

Tuesday's change does not mark a major shift in that policy, and most information about the strike still can't be published by Israel-based journalists.

Newspaper columnist Yossi Sarid, a former lawmaker, condemned the policy, saying censorship is not a legitimate tool for a democratic government.

"The military censor isn't an independent body _ it's controlled by the government, which uses it to relay messages. I don't like a government that holds a censor's scissors," Sarid said.

But Ephraim Kam, a research associate at the Institute for National Security Studies and a former intelligence officer, said censorship has a role in an endangered democracy like Israel's.

"Unfortunately, we're not done with our wars, and there are things we can't publish. We can't permit ourselves things that countries like the U.S. can," Kam said.

Israel Alert!
by Cyndee Pillow

For the past two days, I have felt an alert from the Lord, to really pray for Israel. Something is brewing.

I was reading my daily scripture reads yesterday morning. I suddenly saw a bright light flash to the right of me right off the page, which pin pointed one scripture. It was the one that said, "Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem". I do this every day, but this particular day, the Lord made a point to show me it is VITAL, at this time for those who have access to the throne to Pray intently for our brothers and sisters in Israel. What affects them will most definitely affect us and the rest of the world.

This morning the Lord told me to read Jeremiah 6. The title of the chapter above the scripture read, "IMPENDING DESTRUCTION FROM THE NORTH". I urge you to read all of Jeremiah 6 in your own time if you feel so led.

Thus says the Lord, "Behold, a people comes from the north country, And a great nation will be raised from the farthest parts of the earth. They will lay hold on bow and spear; They are cruel and have no mercy; Their voice roars like the sea; And they ride on horses, As men of war set array against you, O daughter of Zion." The scriptural text is powerful. It magnifies the Lord’s interaction with the nations for prophecy students wise enough to be observant, while the last of the last days approach.

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him” (Psa. 2:1-12).

God’s dealings with man-made government down through the eons of time is wrapped within those Scriptures. However, these words point particularly to the end of days –the time just before Christ returns to put an end to humankind’s self-destruction. Clearly, the nations of the world provide the most effective profile of these last days.

Nations in prophecy can be expressly identified, and the rest are covered, as demonstrated by the body of scriptural text above. The nations of earth versus God, himself, is the most profound and pronounced arena of prophecy that points to things to be fulfilled in the future. Today’s news purveyors are literally everywhere, with sometimes dozens of news organizations covering any given unfolding of a story. Daniel’s prophecy, in this sense, certainly applies to the news organizations of our day: ”But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased” (Dan. 12:4).

This doesn’t always equate, of course, to saying truth will increase. World views have become so skewed because of misinformation, and particularly because of ideological sleight-of-hand from the various points along the geopolitical spectrum, that truth suffers horrifically. Truth can almost never be 100% assured in analyzing what has and has not happened in any given news story. Agendas and flawed ideological perspectives make it more and more difficult for us to get to what really happened.

Despite this unfortunate skewing of the news on a daily, even an hourly, basis, it cannot be denied that the world is shaping a certain way. And –if one is attuned, spiritually, to Bible prophecy, there can be no doubt that the nations of Planet Earth are conforming precisely to the shape of things to come –according –I’m convinced—to the pre-tribulation rapture, pre-millennial view of the return of Jesus Christ.

The news organizations run to and fro, but their knowledge, while increasing in looking at the swiftly developing geopolitical situations and events, is sorely lacking when it comes to having an accurate understanding of history. Revisionists are running amok. This fact is most manifest when it comes to their understanding of history concerning the Middle East and the “Holy Land” and Jerusalem in particular. The media conglomerate, as a whole, has an amazingly shallow understanding/view of facts about the “Palestinians' ” right to the land. And this inadequacy highlights the chief reason that the region is the prophetic center, the nucleus of the problems involving the nations of the world and their rebellion against God Almighty. This world view, completely muddled by luciferian spiritual brainwashing, is what will, ultimately, bring the nations to the Valley of Jezreel for Armageddon.

Chief Reason for Ignorance

World diplomats and global media alike dismiss what the Bible has to say about Israel’s right to a home in the region the world has come to call Palestine. There never was such a land so named in God’s Word. This fact, of course, is of no consequence to the international community, as indicated in Psalms 2:1-12 given above. No other people, as a race, have been in the Middle East region now called Palestine longer than the Jews. At times, they have been there in large numbers. Sometimes they have been there in very small numbers. But, despite the fact that the race has been scattered into all the world several times, there have been at least a few Jews living in the area for more than 3,000 years.

People who have been around a long time usually have made many friends. But they have also met some unfriendly folks along the way. Quite possibly, they’ve made an enemy or two as well. The Jewish nation Israel has very few friends today. Israel has, it seems, more than its share of unfriendly neighbors and violent enemies. That fact is reflected in news reports on the ongoing Israeli-Arab troubles that dominate international headlines. Many accounts point to the hatred at the center of the matter of Mid-East rumblings of war.

God’s Word on Israel’s Islamic Enemies

None of the current hatreds raging against His chosen people have taken God by surprise. The psalmist looked millennia ago down through the corridors of time at the tiny nation and its enemies–whose god is Allah. The prophecy anticipated the diverse Islamic peoples who now occupy the territory promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

“Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah” (Psa. 83:1-8).

Nations of Prophecy Troubled by Israel

Current issues and events that look to be harbingers of the biblically prophesied apocalypse bombard this generation of earth’s inhabitants. Jesus’ Olivet Discourse prophecies, foretelling things to come in the time of “great tribulation,” seem to leap from news reports that are becoming so routine that they no longer shock. No signal is more prophetically significant than present circumstances involving the city where Jesus was crucified nearly 20 centuries ago. This is as the Old and New Testament prophets said it will be just before Christ returns to a planet that is home to a world of rebels against God. That rebellion is scheduled, the prophets forewarn, to culminate in history’s final and most destructive war. Armageddon will be triggered because of both Satan’s and fallen mankind’s determination to install themselves upon the single spot on earth dearest to the heart of God.

Mt. Moriah sits at the southern end of the ancient city, crested by a golden dome that represents hundreds of millions whose religion demands of its adherents blood-vowed opposition to God’s chosen nation, Israel. This is the place God picked to have His temple on earth constructed. It is the precise location where the third temple will sit –the temple that will be desecrated by Antichrist, earth’s last and most beastly tyrant. Even more importantly, the Temple Mount will be the home of Christ’s Millennial Temple. Moriah, then to be known as Zion, will be supernaturally elevated by the tremendous topographical changes caused when the Lord’s foot touches the Mount of Olives at His return.

Diplomats of the world have, for the past four decades, engaged in effort after effort to bring stability to the region, at whose heart the city of Jerusalem sits. We remember the many jettings to and from Washington D.C., Jerusalem, and other capitals of the Mid-East. From Henry Kissinger, James Baker, Madeleine Albright, and Colin Powell to Condoleeza Rice – America’s secretaries of state have burned mega-gallons of jet fuel in trying to find the formula for peace that would diffuse the Armageddon bomb. And, the former British prime minister, Tony Blair, immediately upon resigning, was named by the so-called “Quartet” (US, EU, UN and Russia) as the overseer of continuing efforts toward constructing Mid-East peace, which has eluded mankind for thousand of years. All of that diplomatic shuffling is a mere prelude to the fretting that is about to take place over this, the most important, thus most volatile city on Planet Earth. Zechariah the prophet foretold in Zechariah 12:1-3 the end-time anxiety that we believe is, observably, now on the precipice of gripping the international community.

Good Reason for Worry

There is good reason for the building anxiety. Israel’s terrorist-sponsoring neighbors to the north strive mightily to develop nuclear bombs and missiles that will deliver them. No one doubts in which direction these missiles will be pointed, should Iran be successful in producing such weapons of mass destruction. Israel’s one common declaration, amidst all of the political infighting, remains the core of its defense: “ Never again!”

The following summary of atrocities to the Jewish race presents compelling evidence why “Never Again!” must be their passionate declaration, backed by nuclear strength:

“Due to [Israel’s] disobedience the Jews have suffered terribly. They were ruled by Rome in Christ's day but rebelled in A.D. 70 and 250,000 were killed. They rebelled again in A.D. 135 and again Rome smashed them killing even more and scattering them throughout the empire. Since then they have been bitterly persecuted. Forcibly expelled from England in 1290 and from France 1306. In 1298 more than 100,000 were killed in Europe. From 1648 to 1658 some 400,000 were massacred. From 1939-45 Hitler's Nazis killed more than 4 million… In its history Egyptian Pharaohs, Assyrian Kings, Babylonian rulers, Persian satraps, Greek Hellenists, Roman Caesars, Holy Roman Emperors, Roman Catholic Pontiffs, Medieval monarchs, Christian Crusaders, Spanish Inquisitors, Nazi dictators, Communist commissars, Arab sheiks and United Nation delegates have all turned against the Jew yet they still survive.”1

The Jewish people of Israel collectively declare they will never again let themselves be enslaved within regimes that want them erased from the earth. Never again will they allow the genocide they have suffered through the centuries. Their national vow is backed by the ominous “Samson Option.” This last-ditch military imperative is not lost on the leaders of the international community, which is headed by the G-8 nations (America, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada, and Russia ).

These leaders of this enlightened age might not believe the Bible is the word of God, but, they know the story of Samson and what happened when he was finally put in a predicament in which he could no longer be free. The world’s diplomats –at least those of the western world—have no doubt that the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) will bring the house down around them, if it comes to that as Israel’s only viable option. The international community –once termed “the new world order”-- has developed a systemic neurosis involving the bleak outlook for the future of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The “Roadmap to Peace” seems to be the nerves-soothing therapeutic course of action upon which the powers-that-be have chosen to eliminate the possibility of nuclear conflict being triggered over earth’s most coveted city. World leaders consider Jerusalem the trigger to Armageddon; they will do whatever it takes to defuse that trigger.

Nations in Prophecy Specifically Indicated

God’s Prophetic Word, in addition to predicting in overall or general terms about the nations and their individual dispositions just before Christ’s return, gets quite specific, even if through description rather than using the modern names of countries at the end of days. We will look at the scriptural passages we believe refer to the nations in prophecy, then analyze the most recent disposition of each of those countries, in present-day terms. European Union

”And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate” (Dan. 9:26-27).

Daniel was given the prophecy for the very end of human history as it is presently known. Daniel prophesies that the “prince that shall come,” Antichrist, who will come out of the people who destroyed Jerusalem and the Jewish temple, Roman Empire, will guarantee the implementation of a covenant of peace between Israel and its enemies. Great world turmoil will follow that action, until the very end (at the second advent of Jesus Christ).

Those who destroyed Jerusalem and the Jewish temple came from the region now inhabited by the nations of Europe and a few Mediterranean areas. Rome is the very heart of where the ancient Roman Empire resided. Antichrist will come out of an area near the center of that general geographical location. The European Union (EU) is comprised of a unification of 25 countries that now represent a growing world power. The EU, many prophecy students believe, forms the matrix out of which the Antichrist regime, as indicated in Revelation, Chapter 13, will grow to become the worst tyrannical government ever to exist upon Planet Earth.

The European Parliament meets on a regular basis now, in many instances usurping national autonomy and sovereignty of the European states that are members of the EU. Some believe the 10-kings economic power bloc prophesied to develop during the tribulation, or just before the tribulation begins, will grow from the EU, which will be its nucleus: “And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast” (Rev. 17:12-13). It is wise to observe developments such as the North American Union (NAU) and other such powerful economic trading blocs, in considering this prophecy.

Russia

“And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords…” (Ezek. 38:1-4).

Although there is considerable controversy over the ancient names given in Ezekiel’s Gog-Magog war prophecies, there is sufficient etymological evidence to conclude that Rosh is the ancient name of the modern nation we know as Russia. Likewise, the other names of the ancient geographical areas have been scrupulously examined, so as to give confidence that Russia and its leader will be the culprits that will lead this massive end-time attack on Israel and the Middle East, in order to take “great spoil”.

China and the Orient
“And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared” (Rev. 16:12).

This prophecy, scheduled to coincide with Armageddon when all the armies of the world will be gathered in the Valley of Jezreel, almost certainly will include the modern nation of China. I view that coming juggernaut as the king of the kings of the east –the leader of all countries of the oriental world. This Revelation 16 prophecy correlates to Revelation 9: 16-18. China exerts hegemony today over its neighbors. It is a growing international player, harboring strength and potential that will soon vault it into superpower class, equivalent to the US and the EU. China’s leadership is still an oligarchy that is maintained and perpetuated by an ever-increasing military. This force is destined –I believe Bible prophecy predicts—to eventuate in the 200-million-man army prophesied in Revelation chapter 9.

Syria
“The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap” (Isa. 17:1).

Syria, under the leadership of Bashar al-Assad, hasn’t improved in its attitude toward the much-hated Israel from the days that nation was under the dictatorship of his father, Hafez al-Assad. The country hosts the headquarters of every major terrorist organization in the Middle East. A prophecy that draws interest of prophecy watchers today is the one above. Damascus, capital of Syria, is prophetically scheduled to be completely destroyed, with no chance of becoming a city again. That, of course, smacks of nuclear destruction. There is little doubt that Israel, with nuclear weapons, could accomplish that foretelling with one bomb.

Iran and Others
“Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet” (Ezek. 38:5).

Iran, occupying much of territory that was encompassed by ancient Persia, is front and center in the news today. The Ezekiel Gog-Magog prophecy says they will be at the forefront of invading to the south toward Israel to take great “spoil”. We are left to postulate, of course, that the “spoil” might be the oil –the vast petroleum deposits throughout the region. Certainly, it looks as if the thirst for oil might be a catalyst in bringing all nations to Armageddon.

Turkey
"Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee” (Ezek. 38: 6).

Again we run into controversy when considering the names mentioned here in the Ezekiel Gog-Magog prophecy. Togarmah is most often put forward as the area that now has at its center modern Turkey. Gomer is thought to be parts north and east, in the Mediterranean and east European regions. Turkey is in flux, politically. It is torn between government factions that are secular and at the same time Islamic in nature. The secular, supported by the military, has proven to be the power that rules. The Islamics have recently taken political power, however, but still are controlled by the army generals. Turkey, we believe, will one day join the Islamic world in marching with Russia and the other nations in the Gog-Magog attack on Israel.

Egypt
Strangely, little is prophesied about Egypt for the end-time period just before Christ’s return. There are Scriptures to indicate that Egypt will yet receive blessings from the Lord –but during the millennial era, which will follow the tribulation.

Saudi, England, and Others
“Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?” (Ezek. 38:13).

These nations seemingly will observe the Gog-Magog attack from the sidelines. There seems no more opposition offered from them than diplomatic notes of protest. They will not resist the attack. Sheba and Sedan seem to be Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations; perhaps the Emirates and small countries of the Persian Gulf area. The "merchants of Tarshish" and her "young lions" have long been interpreted –through considerable study—to be the area of the “land of tin” where England, in particular, is presently located. The young lions are thought to be the nations that have come into existence by breaking away from Britain. The United States would qualify as one of the young lions, as would, for example, Australia. As things presently shape up, it is hard to believe that such a massive attack as prophesied by Ezekiel would be allowed to take place by such nuclear powers as Great Britain –and particularly— the United States. Many believe the rapture of the Church could so confuse leadership of these nations as to make them temporarily incapable of organizing military opposition to the assault into the Middle East by Russia and her coalition hordes.

Iraq
“And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double” (Rev. 18:2-6).

I suggest you also read Zechariah, Chapter 5. That prophecy foretells a time when the concentration of the geopolitical evil of the world will be drawn back to the land of ancient Babylon. The heart of that area is, of course, present-day Iraq. There can be little argument against the fact that the news eyes and ears of the world are concentrated each and every hour of each day upon that region. The United States and its coalition partners–e.g., the leaders—are in a quandary. If they stay in the region to protect the Iraqi government, which obviously couldn’t protect itself against incessant Islamic fanatics, they continue to draw the ire of the world, the political flames fanned by a liberal press that hates the U.S. administration that put the troops there. If the forces are withdrawn, the great oil reserves might fall to diabolist nations –led by the likes of Iran. Babylon is foretold to be a city again, one that will be destroyed in a single hour. Many prophecy scholars disagree with this view, believing that the Babylon of prophecy yet future will be perhaps the greatest (wealthiest and most influential) city of its day, but not the Babylon of antiquity.

Israel
“The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem” (Zech. 12:1-2).

Israel, and Jerusalem in particular, have been at the eye of the growing geopolitical storm since its re-birth into modern statehood on May 14, 1948. Every camera and microphone is focused upon and attuned to that nation while it sits upon a powder keg of potential nuclear conflict. The nation, a tiny sliver of land in a vast region promised it by God, has become marginalized to the point it is rapidly becoming hated by most every other country on earth. This is exactly what God predicts. The United States is Israel’s only real friend in a growingly hostile world. When the rapture occurs, and much of the nucleus of support for Israel is instantly gone, God will deal with His chosen people, and with those who will try to destroy them: “And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it” (Zech. 12:3).

Abbas sees six-month timeframe for peace talks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's government said on Thursday formal negotiations to create a Palestinian state could be completed six months after a U.S.-sponsored Middle East conference.

Palestinian Information Minister Riyad al-Malki said the agreement would then be brought before the Palestinian people, both inside the Palestinian territories and abroad, for a referendum.

It is unclear how a referendum would be organized with the Palestinian territories divided between Hamas Islamists ruling the Gaza Strip and Abbas's secular Fatah faction controlling the occupied West Bank.

Syrian guerrilla group 'ready for attacks'
Hezbollah-like cells plan provocations to force war between Damascus, Israel

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
© 2007 WorldNetDaily.com

(BBC)
A recently formed Syrian guerrilla group modeling itself after the Lebanese Hezbollah militia is preparing for "resistance attacks" against the Jewish state, leaders of the purported group stated during in-person interviews released in a new book.

The information comes as Israel yesterday broke its nearly four-week silence and admitted officially the Jewish state's warplanes struck a "military installation" in Syria last month, prompting some officials in Damascus to call for retaliation, including guerrilla raids against Israel.

In his new book, "Schmoozing with Terrorists: From Hollywood to the Holy Land, Jihadists Reveal their Global Plans – to a Jew!" WND Jerusalem bureau chief obtained access to the leadership of the new purported Syrian group, calling itself the Committees for the Liberation of the Golan.

"If an agreement is not quickly forged between Israel and Syria [for an Israeli withdrawal from the Golan], we will begin attacks," a senior leader of the Committees told Klein, speaking on condition his name be withheld.

The Golan Heights is strategic mountainous territory looking down on Israeli and Syrian population centers captured by Israel after Damascus twice used the territory to attack the Jewish state.

The Committees leader stated Syria watched as Israel "lost" a war against the Lebanese Hezbollah militia in the summer of 2006 and noted the Syrian leadership learned that "fighting" is more effective than peace negotiations with regard to gaining territory.

The leader explained in "Schmoozing" his group will initiate rocket attacks and Hezbollah-like raids against Israeli troop positions and Golan-based Jewish communities in hopes of eventually provoking a conflict or generating domestic Israeli pressure for Israel to vacate the Golan.

Much of the Israeli sections of the Golan look down on Syria, and there are U.N. posts at international buffer areas between the Israeli and Syrian sides of the territory, but the Committees leader explained there are multiple points of vulnerability along the Syria-Israel border that can be exploited, including many Israeli sections of the Golan that are at level with the Syrian sides.

The Committees for the Liberation of the Golan Heights consists of Syrian volunteers, many from the Syrian border with Turkey and from Palestinian refugee camps near Damascus, the Committees leader stated. He said Syria held registration for volunteers to join the Committees last June.

Israel is taking seriously the claims of formation of the Committees.

Amos Yadlin, head of the IDF's intelligence branch, stated Syria is indeed in the early stages of forming a Hezbollah-like group.

Israeli security officials speaking to WND said Syrian President Bashar Assad is under heavy pressure from Iran and from senior elements within his military to retaliate for the Israeli aerial strike, especially since the Israel Defense Forces yesterday officially confirmed a raid in Syria took place.

The security officials said if pressure continues to escalate or if the IDF conducts other operation inside Syria, Assad, realizing his army it not prepared for a direct confrontation with Israel, may respond by launching guerrilla attacks against the Golan Heights.

Yesterday, Mohammad Habbash, a member of the Syrian parliament, told reporters Syria may resort to a guerrilla war:

"If the Israeli side launches attacks, believe me we will be very harsh in our response," stated Habbash. "It will be a guerrilla war. There will be guerrilla warfare coming from Lebanon and Syria, and it will be very harsh."

In an interview with the BBC Monday, Assad said Syria is still considering an "appropriate" response to the Israeli aerial attack. He said it wouldn't have to be "missile-for-missile" but could be a political reaction.

Assad claimed Israeli jets hit an unmanned military facility in the Sept. 6 raid.

The IDF has not announced the exact target of its missile strike except that it was a military installation, but multiple newspapers reports have alleged Israel destroyed a facility at which North Korea was transferring nuclear technology to the Syrians.

EX U.S. OFFICIALS DIVIDE JERUSALEM

Iran, Turkey to sign $3.5 bln gas deal
Wed, 03 Oct 2007 16:26:00

Turkey will make a $3.5 billion investment in a gas project in Iran despite US attempts to discourage doing business with Tehran.

Senior officials with the Turkish Energy Ministry, who declined to be named, told Reuters on Wednesday that the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) would start investing in Iran's South Pars gas field project as soon as a comprehensive agreement was signed in the second half of October.

Washington is urging countries to cut business ties with Iran in a bid to pressurize the country over its nuclear activities. Iran says its nuclear program is aimed at peaceful purposes, and the UN nuclear watchdog has confirmed the country's non-deviation from civilian programs.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has defended his government's deal with Iran, saying no country can ask Ankara to give up the relationships it has with energy suppliers.

Turkish energy ministry sources told Reuters TPAO was also interested in investing in Iran's oil sector after the October agreement was signed.

Ex-US officials: Divide Jerusalem

Five former State Department and Pentagon officials tell Rice that Israeli and Palestinian capitals should be established in Jerusalem, Arab refugees to return only to future Palestinian state

Associated Press Published: 10.04.07, 08:13 / Israel News

Five former State Department and Pentagon officials are proposing Israeli and Palestinian capitals in Jerusalem and excluding Arab refugees from returning to Israel as part of an Middle East accord.

In a six-page policy statement submitted to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, they also suggested a series of peace conferences following the one she hopes to convene next month, probably in Annapolis, Maryland, near Washington.

Hamas, which controls Gaza and about one-third of Palestinian-held land, has not met US terms for attending. Those conditions are recognizing Israel's right to exist and abandoning violence against the Jewish state.

But the ex-officials suggested Hamas might be drawn to attend a second conference, which implicitly would accept the first one and Israel's existence. They called the role of Hamas the most difficult issue in peacemaking.

Jerusalem's future and that of Palestinian refugees have snarled past US peace efforts. Former President Bill Clinton's mediation efforts between the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and then-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak envisioned sharing Jerusalem.

Clinton ruled out requiring Israel to take in most Palestinians or their families who claimed to have been forced out of Israel during creation of the Jewish state in 1947-8.

It will be very difficult, "but not impossible," said Robert Pelletreau, a former US ambassador to Egypt and ex-assistant secretary of state for the region. "There is a little bit of momentum starting to build" with talks between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair as a mediator, he said in a telephone interview.

Along with announcement of the conference, he said, "You have several things that can reinforce each other if they are framed properly."

"The refugee issue is the most difficult," he said. "And Jerusalem is right up with it."

'Hamas most difficult issue'

Edward S. Walker, a former ambassador to Israel and Egypt, said Hamas was the most difficult issue. "Unless Hamas changes its stripes there is no way to deal with them on the current situation," He said in an interview. But, Walker added, "A lot of things that appear to be impossible now might well become possible if there is hope that a true and real peace can be established."

The policy paper was prepared by Israel Policy Forum, a nonpartisan American group that promotes sustained US diplomacy to end the conflict between Israel and its neighbors.

Next month's conference should reaffirm that the goal is two independent and sovereign states, with borders roughly along the lines that separated Israel from the Arabs before the 1967 Middle East war, the statement said.

It also called for a "just solution" to refugee questions that recognizes "The suffering and the plight of the Palestinian refugees." They would be permitted to move only to the new Palestinian state, with compensation from Israel, the Palestinian state and other nations.

Besides Pelletreau and Walker, the former US diplomats included Thomas Pickering, an ex-undersecretary of state and ambassador to Israel and Jordan; Samuel Lewis, former ambassador to Israel; and Frederic C. Hof, Mideast official in the Pentagon.

The report was written and coordinated primarily by Steven L. Spiegel, political science professor at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Rice has been meeting with former US negotiators and ex-American diplomats, and has not replied to the policy paper, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Wednesday.

In a separate message to Rice, 79 senators lined up by the pro-Israel lobby, the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee, said friendly Arab countries should participate in the conference as full partners of the United States.

The Arab countries should stop support for terrorist groups and cease all anti-Israel and anti-Jewish incitement while pressing Hamas to recognize Israel and to reject terror, AIPAC said.

The senators praised Rice, Israel and the Palestinian government for working hard to advance the cause of peace in the Middle East but said peace will remain elusive "without a sincere commitment from our allies."

"This is the word of the Lord concerning Israel. The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundations of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him, declares:

'I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. . . . On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume right and left all the surrounding peoples, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place'" (Zechariah 12:1-6, NIV).

Analysis: Lots of talk, but little progress, on Iran
"The creation, continued existence and unlimited (Western) support for this regime is an insult to human dignity," Ahmadinejad said. "The occupation of Palestine is not limited to one land. The Zionist issue is now a global issue."

Ahmadinejad's remarks came as millions of Iranians held rallies across Iran to protest Israel's continued control of Jerusalem.

The demonstrations for "Al-Quds Day" - Al-Quds is the Arabic name for Jerusalem - also spilled over into anti-American protests because of US support for Israel.

In the capital Teheran, hundreds of thousands of people poured into the streets as they chanted "Death to America" and "Death to Israel." Some protesters also burned American and Israeli flags.

State television reported similar large rallies in all other provincial capitals and smaller towns across Iran.

The Iranian president once again said Palestinians should not pay any price because Europeans committed crimes against Jews in World War II. He said they could give a part of their own land in Europe or Alaska so that the Jews can establish their country.

"I ask European governments supporting Zionists and the American people that will you allow occupation of part of your land under a pretext and then talk about a two-state solution?," Ahmadinejad said after the rallies.

Ahmadinejad said a "free referendum" was the solution to the Palestinian issue, saying Jews, Muslims and Christians as well as five million Palestinian refugees should take part in a vote to determine their own fate.

Ayatollah Mahould Hashemi Shahroudi, Iran's judiciary chief, said Friday's rallies was "a good start for the destruction of the Zionist regime."

Parliamentary speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel said the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands was a "blatant oppression" and warned that the relationship between the Islamic world and the West won't improve as long as Palestinians are not allowed to determine their fate in a referendum.

Since the Islamic revolution in 1979, Iran has observed the last Friday of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan as "Al-Quds Day," as a way of expressing support to the Palestinians and emphasizing the importance of Jerusalem to Muslims.

Jerusalem is the third holiest city in Islam after the Saudi Arabian cities of Mecca and Medina.

Meanwhile, thousands of Gazans marched from Beit Lahiya to Jabalya to commemorate "Al-Quds Day." The protesters burned, Israeli, US and British flags.

Also, on Israel's northern border, Hizbullah activists and Lebanese Shi'ites held an anti-Israel protest next to the border fence.

Lebanese troops manned the rally and prevented the protesters from approaching the border.

IDF troops in the North were instructed to raise their level of alert.

Abbas added that “Jerusalem is in the heart of every Palestinian”, and that it is the hope that the Palestinians aspire to achieve. He also stated that there will be no Palestinian state, regardless of its size, without Jerusalem as its capital.

Abbas said ..... the joint Palestinian-Israeli committees will start on Monday the needed preparations for the November international conference on peace in the Middle East.

He also said that at least 36 countries will participate in this conference, including 12 Arab countries and three Muslim counties, in addition to members of the Security Council, industrial countries and others.

Mubarak: Israel Has Not Learned from 1973

(IsraelNN.com) Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said that Israel has not learned the lessons of the 1973 [Yom Kippur] war and still prefers to use force rather than seek diplomatic solutions. "Israeli politicians and military officials still fear the recurrence of such a surprise war," he told Egypt's Armed Forces Periodical, in an interview marking 34 years since the Yom Kippur War.

Calling the 1973 war "a great victory for Egypt and the entire Arab nation," Mubarak said that the war proved that military force is no one's monopoly, and that attempts to force other countries to accept a certain arrangement as a fait accompli are doomed to failure. "These balances of power may last for some time," Mubarak explained, "but it is their nature to change and be upset sooner or later."

The History and Meaning of "Palestine" and "Palestinians"

Did you know that there is no such thing as a Palestinian Arab nation . . . Palestine is a name the Romans gave to Eretz Yisrael with the express purpose of infuriating the Jews . . . . Why should we use the spiteful name meant to humiliate us?

"The British chose to call the land they mandated Palestine, and the Arabs picked it up as their nation's supposed ancient name, though they couldn't even pronounce it correctly and turned it into Falastin a fictional entity."

---- Golda Meir quoted by Sarah Honig, Jerusalem Post, 25 November 1995

Palestine has never existed . . . as an autonomous entity. There is no language known as Palestinian. There is no distinct Palestinian culture. There has never been a land known as Palestine governed by Palestinians. Palestinians are Arabs, indistinguishable from Jordanians (another recent invention), Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis, etc.

Keep in mind that the Arabs control 99.9 percent of the Middle East lands. Israel represents one-tenth of one percent of the landmass. But that's too much for the Arabs. They want it all. And that is ultimately what the fighting in Israel is about today . . . No matter how many land concessions the Israelis make, it will never be enough.

-- from "Myths of the Middle East", Joseph Farah, Arab-American editor and journalist, WorldNetDaily, 11 October 2000

From the end of the Jewish state in antiquity to the beginning of British rule, the area now designated by the name Palestine was not a country and had no frontiers, only administrative boundaries . . . .

-- Professor Bernard Lewis, Commentary Magazine, January 1975

Talk and writing about Israel and the Middle East feature the nouns "Palestine" and Palestinian", and the phrases "Palestinian territory" and even "Israeli-occupied Palestinian territory". All too often, these terms are used with regard to their historical or geographical meaning, so that the usage creates illusions rather than clarifies reality.
WHAT DOES "PALESTINE" MEAN?
It has never been the name of a nation or state. It is a geographical term, used to designate the region at those times in history when there is no nation or state there.

The word itself derives from "Peleshet", a name that appears frequently in the Bible and has come into English as "Philistine". The name began to be used in the Thirteenth Century BCE, for a wave of migrant "Sea Peoples" who came from the area of the Aegean Sea and the Greek Islands and settled on the southern coast of the land of Canaan. There they established five independent city-states (including Gaza) on a narrow strip of land known as Philistia. The Greeks and Romans called it "Palastina".

The Philistines were not Arabs, they were not Semites. They had no connection, ethnic, linguistic or historical with Arabia or Arabs. The name "Falastin" that Arabs today use for "Palestine" is not an Arabic name. It is the Arab pronunciation of the Greco-Roman "Palastina" derived from the Peleshet.
HOW DID THE LAND OF ISRAEL BECOME "PALESTINE"?
In the First Century CE, the Romans crushed the independent kingdom of Judea. After the failed rebellion of Bar Kokhba in the Second Century CE, the Roman Emperor Hadrian determined to wipe out the identity of Israel-Judah-Judea. Therefore, he took the name Palastina and imposed it on all the Land of Israel. At the same time, he changed the name of Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina.

The Romans killed many Jews and sold many more in slavery. Some of those who survived still alive and free left the devastated country, but there was never a complete abandonment of the Land. There was never a time when there were not Jews and Jewish communities, though the size and conditions of those communities fluctuated greatly.
THE HISTORY OF PALESTINE
Thousands of years before the Romans invented "Palastina" the land had been known as "Canaan". The Canaanites had many tiny city-states, each one at times independent and at times a vassal of an Egyptian or Hittite king. The Canaanites never united into a state.

After the Exodus from Egypt probably in the Thirteenth Century BCE but perhaps earlier -- , the Children of Israel settled in the land of Canaan. There they formed first a tribal confederation, and then the biblical kingdoms of Israel and Judah, and the post-biblical kingdom of Judea. From the beginning of history to this day, Israel-Judah-Judea has the only united, independent, sovereign nation-state that ever existed in "Palestine" west of the Jordan River. (In biblical times, Ammon, Moab and Edom as well as Israel had land east of the Jordan, but they disappeared in antiquity and no other nation took their place until the British invented Trans-Jordan in the 1920s.)

After the Roman conquest of Judea, "Palastina" became a province of the pagan Roman Empire and then of the Christian Byzantine Empire, and very briefly of the Zoroastrian Persian Empire. In 638 CE, an Arab-Muslim Caliph took Palastina away from the Byzantine Empire and made it part of an Arab-Muslim Empire. The Arabs, who had no name of their own for this region, adopted the Greco-Roman name Palastina, that they pronounced "Falastin".

In that period, much of the mixed population of Palastina converted to Islam and adopted the Arabic language. They were subjects of a distant Caliph who ruled them from his capital, that was first in Damascus and later in Baghdad. They did not become a nation or an independent state, or develop a distinct society or culture.

In 1099, Christian Crusaders from Europe conquered Palestina-Falastin. After 1099, it was never again under Arab rule. The Christian Crusader kingdom was politically independent, but never developed a national identity. It remained a military outpost of Christian Europe, and lasted less than 100 years. Thereafter, Palestine was joined to Syria as a subject province first of the Mameluks, ethnically mixed slave-warriors whose center was in Egypt, and then of the Ottoman Turks, whose capital was in Istanbul.

During the First World War, the British took Palestine from the Ottoman Turks. At the end of the war, the Ottoman Empire collapsed and among its subject provinces "Palestine" was assigned to the British, to govern temporarily as a mandate from the League of Nations.
THE JEWISH NATIONAL HOME
Travellers to Palestine from the Western world left records of what they saw there. The theme throughout their reports is dismal:

The land was empty, neglected, abandoned, desolate, fallen into ruins. Nothing there [Jerusalem] to be seen but a little of the old walls which is yet remaining and all the rest is grass, moss and weeds.

-- English pilgrim in 1590

The country is in a considerable degree empty of inhabitants and therefore its greatest need is of a body of population"

-- British consul in 1857

There is not a solitary village throughout its whole extent [valley of Jezreel] -- not for 30 miles in either direction. . . . One may ride 10 miles hereabouts and not see 10 human beings.

For the sort of solitude to make one dreary, come to Galilee... Nazareth is forlorn... Jericho lies a moldering ruin... Bethlehem and Bethany, in their poverty and humiliation... untenanted by any living creature... A desolate country whose soil is rich enough, but is given over wholly to weeds... a silent, mournful expanse... a desolation... We never saw a human being on the whole route... Hardly a tree or shrub anywhere. Even the olive tree and the cactus, those fast friends of a worthless soil, had almost deserted the country... Palestine sits in sackcloth and ashes... desolate and unlovely...

-- Mark Twain, The Innocents Abroad, 1867

The restoration of the "desolate and unlovely" land began in the latter half of the Nineteenth Century with the first Jewish pioneers. Their labors created newer and better conditions and opportunities, which in turn attracted migrants from many parts of the Middle East, both Arabs and others. The Balfour Declaration of 1917, confirmed by the League of Nations Mandate, commited the British Government to the principle that "His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a Jewish National Home, and will use their best endeavors to facilitate the achievement of this object... " It was specified both that this area be open to "close Jewish settlement" and that the rights of all inhabitants already in the country be preserved and protected.

Mandate Palestine originally included all of what is now Jordan, as well as all of what is now Israel, and the territories between them. However, when Great Britain's protégé Emir Abdullah was forced to leave the ancestral Hashemite domain in Arabia, the British created a realm for him that included all of Manfate Palestine east of the Jordan River. There was no traditional or historic Arab name for this land, so it was called after the river: first Trans-Jordan and later Jordan.

By this political act, that violated the conditions of the Balfour Declaration and the Mandate, the British cut more than 75 percent out of the Jewish National Home. No Jew has ever been permitted to reside in Trans-Jordan/Jordan.

Less than 25 percent then remained of Mandate Palestine, and even in this remnant, the British violated the Balfour and Mandate requirements for a "Jewish National Home" and for "close Jewish settlement". They progressively restricted where Jews could buy land, where they could live, build, farm or work.

After the Six-Day War in 1967, Israel was finally able to settle some small part of those lands from which the Jews had been debarred by the British. Successive British governments regularly condemn their settlement as "illegal". In truth, it was the British who had acted illegally in banning Jews from these parts of the Jewish National Home.
WHO IS A PALESTINIAN?
During the period of the Mandate, it was the Jewish population that was known as "Palestinians" including those who served in the British Army in World War II.

British policy was to curtail their numbers and progressively limit Jewish immigration. By 1939, the White Paper virtually put an end to admission of Jews to Palestine. This policy was imposed

Voting begins in Pakistan election (Musharraf could still be disqualified by Court)

By MATTHEW PENNINGTON, Associated Press Writer

Quote:
Lawmakers were voting Saturday in a presidential election that Pakistan's military ruler is expected to sweep, although he could yet face disqualification by the Supreme Court.

President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who seized power in a 1999 coup, faces a retired judge as his chief rival, in his bid to secure a new five-year term.

But with opposition parties either abstaining or boycotting the election in protest at Musharraf running while army chief, he looks bound to win the most votes by far.

Lawmakers at a joint session of the National Assembly and Senate in Islamabad, and in the four provincial assemblies began voting around the country.

Called in alphabetical order, senators cast votes first, going behind a black curtain to mark their ballots then placing them in a transparent plastic box. The voting was broadcast live on national television.

However, the Supreme Court on Friday ruled the official results can only be declared after it rules on petitions lodged by Musharraf's opponents that his candidacy is unconstitutional.

Hearings will resume on those petitions Oct. 17, meaning even if Musharraf wins he would have to wait at least 11 days before knowing whether he could take up office.

His current presidential term expires Nov. 15. Speculation persists that if he is blocked, he might declare martial law.

Syria will not hesitate to start a war with Israel in order to restore its control over the Golan Heights, A-Baath, the official newspaper of President Bashar Assad's government, warned Saturday.

In an article to mark 34 years since the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War, A-Baath said: "Our people and our leadership are determined to liberate our conquered lands using all means, methods and ways."

Meanwhile, ABC News quoted American officials as saying that the IAF raid in Syria during September was planned for several months and was postponed a number of times due to heavy US pressure.

According to the report, Israel presented US officials with satellite imagery which clearly showed North Korean nuclear technology in a Syrian facility. According to a US source, Washington officials were astonished by the imagery and by the fact US intelligence had not picked up on the facility previously.

"Israel tends to be very thorough about its intelligence coverage, particularly when it takes a major military step, so they would not have acted without data from several sources," said ABC News military consultant Tony Cordesman.

A different source told ABC News that Israel had planned the strike as early as July 14, and in confidential meetings with high ranking US officials, debated over the appropriate response. Several officials supported Israel's decision to strike, although others, led by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, firmly opposed it and offered to publicly condemn Syria for operating a nuclear facility instead.

US officials who initially opposed the raid, according to ABC , apparently feared the negative influence it might have over the whole region. Consequently, officials in Washington persuaded Israel to push back the raid, but in September, Israel feared that information about the facility might be leaked to the press, and went ahead with the strike, despite objections by Washington.

Bush on Arab TV says US is 'country of peace'

In interview to al-Arabiya TV, President Bush denies reports of planned attack on Iran, saying reports are 'baseless gossip'. President adds he is optimistic about November peace conference, calling it 'opportunity for serious discussion on two-state solution'
Associated Press

In a rare interview with an Arabic satellite news station, US President George W. Bush denied that the United States is gearing up to attack Iran and said he remains committed to working diplomatically to resolve the standoff with Tehran over its nuclear program.

Bush, in an hour-long interview with al-Arabiya TV, also reiterated his pledge to negotiate with Iran if it gives up its nuclear program.

Message to Tehran?

Bush: US will defend Israel / Associated Press

US President says American perseverance in Iraq positive signal to Iranian people that young democracies are supported, says Iran has made very worrying statements but that US would ultimately be willing to sit down with Ahmadinejad if he complies with international demands
Full Story

"I have said that if they suspend their nuclear program, we will be at the table," Bush said, according to a transcript of the interview the White House released on Friday. "But they have so far refused to do that."

Bush brushed off as "gossip" reports in the Arab press that he has issued orders to senior US Military officials to prepare for an attack on Iran at the end of January or in February.

"I would call that empty propaganda," Bush said. "Evidently, there's a lot of gossip in the parts of the country - world that try to scare people about me personally or my country or what we stand for. And that kind of gossip is just what it is. It's gossip. It's baseless gossip."

In the hour-long interview, Bush acknowledged that some people in the Middle East think he is against Islam and is a man or war. The interview was conducted on Thursday in the Oval Office and two other areas of the White House by the Saudi-owned satellite news broadcaster. "I understand the images of my country have been distorted," Bush said.

"And I understand people say things about me personally that simply aren't true. And so I appreciate the chance to come and talk to you directly and to talk to your viewers directly about what's in my heart and about the fact that my country is a country of peace."

Optimistic about chances for Mideast peace

The president said he was optimistic about the chances for Middle East peace ahead of a US-sponsored conference expected to be held in Annapolis, Maryland, in mid- to late-November.

Israelis and Palestinians are in deep discussions over the framework of the talks, while Arab leaders have expressed deep skepticism over the conference. "I'm very optimistic we can achieve a two-state solution," he said, as Israelis and Palestinians are preparing for US-sponsored peace talks set for November.

"It's an opportunity for there to be a serious, substantive discussions about the way forward, and a two-state solution."

Bush pledged to support Palestinian security forces and help President Mahmoud Abbas financially so that ordinary people's lives would be improved.

He added that US Strategy is to get all parties to the table for general peace, with the first step being a commitment from Israelis and Palestinians to the concept of peace before embarking on the road map to create two states living peacefully side by side.

Arab leaders, however, have expressed doubt over the seriousness of the conference and expressed fear that it will be little more than an empty photo opportunity. Bush said he was "deeply concerned" about interference from Syria and other neighboring countries, into presidential elections in Lebanon.

He also urged the international community to follow through quickly in holding an international tribunal to bring to justice those who killed former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, slain in a massive 2005 truck bombing.

"I'm frustrated, frankly, by the pace at which the tribunal is lingering. It's not moving," Bush said. "There needs to be a definitive moment where the evidence is laid out, and if it's clear evidence."

It would probably be a good idea for me to apologize for not writing sooner, I could tell you how busy I’ve been or how much I’ve been troubled and praying for certain answers in regards to saving Jewish lives as the time draws nearer. Both would be the truth, but it is also true that if I really tried I could have written sooner, but without inspiration from the Rauch ha Kodesh I feel it would only be words to fill time without directions from God. To continue daily writing about the corruption in the Israeli government seems useless as the average Israeli seems to have fallen asleep under the power of the prince of this world, once again ready to be lead into the gas chambers like sheep to the slaughter without to much protest. Daily I pray for an awakening in the Ruach ha Kodesh knowing that God will not sit by and allow the destruction of Israel. You might want to know how I have come to that conclusion, I could give you plenty of Scriptures as can those who twist God’s Word and prove the opposite mostly to satisfy their own wishes or to prove their superior intelligence or spirituality. But it all comes down to the fact that God is sovereign and He never lies and it was God who brought us back to the land He promised Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as an everlasting covenant.

But there is a more personal reason for me to come to that conclusion and that is God’s call to prepare to rescue the thousands of Jews who will soon be running for their lives out of Europe and elsewhere. Once again Connie and I will be in Turkey for all of next week in search of safe houses, safe routes and looking at boats in hope of raising the needed finances to buy the larger boat. Like any organization things have to be fined tuned and rearranged from time to time so this will be a busy trip for us, I should also remind you that we will be in the midst of a country with 99% Moslems and your prayers are asked for.

I am asked all the time what about the Jews in the US and South America, my answer is simple, I am but one man and one with limited capabilities, in fact so limited that I often ask God why me. But it is more than amazing how we see the Rauch ha Kodesh move before us opening doors on these trips. So many times we have walked through danger without even being noticed by those who would kill us simply because we are Jews. But as for those in the US and elsewhere we will be able to assist them as well in small numbers at this time if they can get themselves to the Greek Islands, Turkey or Cyprus and all the above should be possible, it is the move from those places to Israel where they will need our help and God willing we will be there for them. It is the larger boat we must all be praying about and time is running out, so now is always the best time to say yes to God.

So once again for those who would like to know how to support this Ministry they can click on this link. http://www.thegoldenreport.com/asp/jerrysn...?a=1013&z=2
